Emalkay, who hasn’t given us much in the way of new music since May, has announced today that he’s aligned with AEI Music to start his own imprint, Bring It Down Records. And for those of you who grew with Emalkay the dubstep producer, “For The People” is definitely a trap track. It won’t be the first time he’s strayed from the 140BPM lane, but judging by the words he’s received on his Facebook page, his followers aren’t too happy with this look. Emalkay made sure to explain what the situation with this forthcoming EP, For The People, is about: The For The People EP is said to be four tracks (three originals and a remix), although the iTunes pre-order only lists the three tracks. Everyone has their panties in a knot and we’re jumping on the bandwagon after news hit the interwebs that Justin Bieber’s new single “All That Matters” is a collaboration with Diplo. Diplo took to the mighty Twitter stage to correct the mistake, informing the world wide web that the single isn’t a collaboration between the two knuckle heads. Unfortunately it’s not a complete mistake because Diplo does actually have plans to release a collaboration with his tiny dancing friend – much to the insane anger of Diplo’s fans (who seem to have forgotten that Diplo and Biebs have collaborated before). As usual, the best thing to come out of all of this is the rage seen below: Source: doandroidsdance.com

Fanatical blues collector explains why he spent $37,100 on one record John Tefteller recently paid $37,100 for a single 78rpm blues record on eBay; now he’s explained why. What is wilder than spending $37,100 on a record? Spending $37,100 on a record you already own. Sitting on a pile of over 400,000 records, blues collector John Tefteller already had a copy – albeit “in hammered condition” – of Tommy Johnson’s Paramount recording “Alcohol and Jake Blues”, when he found himself in the final stages of an explosive eBay bidding war that saw prices for the pristine duplicate soar from $16,000 to over $37,000 at the last minute. Making a living buying a selling blues records and memorabilia (to the extent he can no longer remember how many thousands he spent on his first copy of “Alcohol and Jake Blues”) , John Tefteller spoke to Fuse to try and rationalise why he actually got a good deal. On why the record was so valuable: “These original Paramount delta blues records have attained such a mythic status over the years, and they are loads of people who would love to buy one of these things, that it just becomes so legendary. When you actually see one for sale, which happens once or twice in a lifetime, you have to make a decision. It’s also historically extremely important because there are no masters on these records… So when you find one of these blues records in really super nice condition, that’s an earth-shaking event in the record collecting world. ” On whether he plans to sell it: “No. If I buy something for my collection, it stays in my collection… They can offer me $400,000 for it and I wouldn’t sell it.” On what he’s still looking for: “There are a handful of legendary records on the Paramount label of which no copies exists that we know of. I believe they exist and are sitting in the garage or the basement and the owners don’t understand how significant they are. Those are my Holy Grail records and I will not lose them. My challenge to the world is, you go find those records, bring them to me and you’ll see how big the check will be.” Read the full interview on Fuse.TV

Anyone wanna collab on ambient/triphop/downtempo shit?

Not a lot of drums. More atmospheric style shit with occasional trip hop beats that I can do anyway. I just want to work on and release something with someone else for a change. -
Giorgio Moroder releases an EDM track, fans cry in disbelief
Cupe replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
I think the point is his track sucked balls -
Fans of disco legend and Daft Punk collaborator Giorgio Moroder were no doubt surprised when he revealed that he was producing tracks for Avicii's new album, though it appears that nothing could have prepared them for the shock that is his new EDM-centric track 'My Name Is'. Moroder released the new cut via his soundcloud yesterday (it's since been deleted), with it's panicked horn-synth stabs and stomping beat sounding a million miles away from the chic italo-disco that made his name. It also bears the same vocal sample from his Daft Punk collaboration 'Giorgio By Moroder'. This hasn't gone unnoticed by his fans, many of who've left shocked comments on his soundcloud and facebook ranging from "Is this a joke?" to "No way this is giorgio, fucking dreadful". You can listen to the track below. What do we here at Pulse think of Giorgio's new slice of EDM? In the words of one of his fans, "even a master is going to release a turd now and again". You can't dismiss the talent of a true legend off just one track. Giorgio, we still love you.

ADJF Soundcloud - The new networking hub for ADJF tunes
Cupe replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
FYI we will still have ADJF Radio for some months as it's been paid for. We simply won't be renewing the contract again. Big ups to Gandy and Capfive, and the other donators, for allowing us the chance to have it running in the first place. Big love. -
So we will be eventually moving away from ADJF Radio and using the Soundcloud for all things music. Every new thread will be still pumped through Facebook & Twitter, but for the sake of tunes we will utilise the Soundcloud platform. I suggest EVERYONE (if you haven't already) join the ADJF Soundcloud group: https://soundcloud.com/groups/ausdjforums When you upload any new tracks or mixes, tag ausdjforums and ADJF - We use these for searches. Also, share them to the ausdjforums group. The main account is: https://soundcloud.com/ausdjforums With 1000+ followers, every track/mix shared to the ADJF Soundcloud group will be Liked and Reposted. HOKKAY? Gut.

Sales of LPs have doubled to 550,000 this year and the format has become the favourite of nearly nine in 10 vinyl buyers, according to the record industry body BPI. Releases from bands such as Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys and David Bowie have helped to push the popularity of vinyl recordings to renewed heights. The figure reflects year-on-year growth of more than 100 per cent. LPs now account for 0.8 per cent of all albums sold in the UK. As recently as 2007, the share was 0.1 per cent. Record Store Day, a celebration of independent record shops which took place in April, generated £2 million of vinyl sales. With 15,000 LPs bought every week, BPI estimates that more than 700,000 units could be sold by the end of the year, the highest since 2001, potentially generating £12 million at retail. While Daft Punk lead the charts for the biggest-selling LP of the year with Random Access Memories, it is Manchester’s Britpop pioneers, Oasis, who hold the title for the two bestselling LPs since official charts records began. Their album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory has sold the most vinyl records since 1994, edging the band’s debut Definitely Maybe into second place. Geoff Taylor, BPI’s chief executive, said: “The LP is back in the groove. We’re witnessing a renaissance for records — they’re no longer retromania and are becoming the format of choice for more and more music fans. Kim Bayley, of the Entertainment Retailers Association, said it put paid to the idea “that either vinyl or record stores themselves are on the way out”. Source: telegraph.co.uk
