  10. The more likes the more posts spread around the more exposure we get. Please take the time to 'Like' a few random posts each couple of days on @AUSDJFORUMS Every little bit helps.

  12. So oxykon's set leads into spitfires set? Sorted
  13. Sex sells. The world needs DJs (for at least a while longer). A hot girl with big tits that flaunts them will land better jobs than a better DJ who doesn't have tits. Open your eyes, this is how it works. Just take a look at some of the 'talented female DJs' on your facebook lists and see how many more 'likes' their pages have than DJ mates you KNOW are good.
  14. Yea I can't imagine this sort of shit happening with quality DJ's like this around
  15. So back in 2006 I had a little idea.. I saw that the back-then djforums.com had a section for Australia tucked away in 'Other Countries' and had a chat with one of the head admin. I pitched the idea for an AUSdjforums.com and to them it sounded as feasible as I thought it was myself. I purchased the URL and launched an ugly looking thing, running it all on my own at that stage. It picked up a little interest over the next year or so, then I ran out of time to manage it and the site went down. Jump to 2008, and the unofficial re-launch of ADJF went down on the 28th of September. I spent the next few months tweaking shit for a 2009 public launch. You can take a look on the Wayback Machine at how the look has changed over the years: http://web.archive.org/web/200803010000 ... forums.com We were on an old custom PHP-Nuke CMS back then, and about two years after official launch myself and a programmer from the Netherlands worked to port it over to a standalone phpBB3 forum. It was the longest 50+ hours of my life, with us working in shifts to get everything done, sleeping while the other worked and vice versa. In the end we managed to complete the task with a few errors to tidy up. Stepping up to today and we have a tight community, with great regulars dropping in and out, a growing team of staff and the quality face of ADJF changing for the better constantly. We've set-up clothing, got our own 24/7 radio, had some mad competitions, pumped the world full of posts on our growing social media and had some epic fucking parties. Big ups to the next 1000 years of ADJF's reign. Much love.
  16. Great news world! You don’t have to travel to the 500 acre Bouckaert Farm in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, America to enjoy the inaugural edition of TomorrowWorld. Yep, word has leaked that the festival will have live streaming for listener’s delight. With the helping hand of Youtube and Motorola, the festival will go live for seven hours each day – from 7pm to 2am – so those of us who can’t pull a sneaky trip down to the US will be tuned up and in. For those in Australia, the stream will be from 10am to 5pm AEST each day from Saturday Morning until Monday afternoon in coordination with the time zone of September 27-29th in America. We’ll be seeing a combination of artist sets filmed across stages hosted by Q-Dance, Mad Decent, OWSLA, Dim Mak, Laidback Luke’s Super You&Me and A-Trak’s Fool’s Gold. You can head to TomorrowWorld TV to check out the sweet lineup of the festival, as well as some exclusive interviews and backstage (Buck Staaaje) treats ahead of some ridiculous music including dedicated ‘House’ and ‘Belgium’ stages. The service will be available via mobile (for those of us who like to grove on the move) and will feature a live chat so you can rag on producers on the run. We’ll be hosting a stream on site as well! Check out what you’ll be missing below: Source: stoneyroads.com
  17. It’s probably fair to say that amongst dance music circles, Will.I.Am has stooped to levels generally reserved for Satan and Pitbull. With his needlessly geometric haircut, shoddy pop productions and kleptomaniac tendencies, the former Black Eyed Peas front man has incurred the wrath of EDM fans worldwide a few times in the past year or so, more recently stealing beats from Arty & Mat Zo. Now he has stirred the pot even more, launching a tirade against dance music and claiming it is only successful based on how intoxicated people get while listening to it. I have no words. Well actually, I have a few. The comments were made in Josh Eells’ latest article for The New Yorker, which raises the question, ‘Can Las Vegas make more money from dance music than from gambling?’ Speaking to the New Yorker, he says, “What makes a hit in pop music is how many times a song gets played on the radio.” Considering that the amount of plays a pop song gets on the radio is generally predetermined by how much the record company feels like dishing out to promote the track, I have to ask, how is that a valid point? Will.I.Am continues by stating “A hit in DJ land is how much alcohol is bought.” It should probably be noted here that he was commenting on the revenue of a Las Vegas club that he occasionally headlines himself. Because what happens in Vegas is definitely an accurate reflection of trends around the world, am I right? He adds that today’s definition of a DJ amounts to no more than the following: “You put your music on the Internet for free, and promoters fly you out to DJ and pay you three million bucks a year.” Stones and glasshouses, William. Will.i.am then goes on to have a pop at the lack of physical movement from the Vegas crowd, “They shouldn’t even call it dance music; they should call it look-at-the-DJ-and-get-drunk music.” By his logic, does this make a rock gig “Look-atthe-band-and-get-drunk music”? Of course it doesn’t. Does it make a Will.I.Am concert “Look-at-the-twat-and-get-drunk music”? Absolutely… That and we’re still a little peeved about Cassian and Anna Lunoe getting kicked off the decks for this nut job. Source: stoneyroads.com
  18. OWSLA label owner Skrillex is set to slam his craziness at the famous 2013 New Years Eve party Shore Thing, held at the iconic Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. This years event has been delivered with a twist through the announcement that Skrilly will be choosing the supporting artists to perform before he enters his live show space ship. Although his set will probably be a tad nostalgic for the early movement (RIP Dubstep), we are sure Sonny will be wobbing out some of his new material that he’s been producing with Diplo under the Jack U moniker that saw some play for the first time a few weeks ago at Mad Decent Block Party as well as Dog Blood, his project with German techno producer Boys Noize, who recently released a killer new EP. With the line up in Skrillex’s hands, we have money that the former emo band member will be keen to have Flume involved in the line up as What So Not, who coincidently was spotted in the studio with Sonny and recently released ‘The Quack‘ EP on his label a matter of months ago. First release ticket at only $125 for the fast & well-organised fans When: 31/12/13 Where: Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia Tix: On sale now via Shore Thing 1st release – $118 + BF* (Ends when allocation is sold out) General release – $138 + BF* (Starts when 1st release sold out) Final release – $178 + BF* (Starts when general release sold out) Source: stoneyroads.com
  19. A recent spiel on the Huffington post has blown sh*t up on sexism in EDM. Written by Sara Gates, the article features Krewella, a trio comprised of the Yousef sisters, Cassy, Brazzabelle and Jack (aka. Jaqueline) Novak, whom changed her name for what can only be assumed as business purposes. An in depth look at what female DJs face in the industry, the article gives a pretty bleak outlook regarding the concept that female’s can’t produce their own beats. It’s a good one, and worth a read for sure, but we’re slightly concerned about the structure of the article. Gates still opens the piece with what the Yousef sisters are wearing (tank top, harem pants and a skirt if you’re interested), which gives the whole thing a bit of a Woman’s Day vibe. She also puts a sub heading ‘Learning to Produce’ which is a bit off. We would have liked something a bit more neutral to introduce some talented ladies to the industry.
