Mixvibes introduces an update for Cross DJ, its Mac/PC flagship software. Blend tracks seamlessly, create mashups in seconds and record smooth mixtapes. Indeed, the 2.5 version features buildin key detection and control, new full screen collection and more. Accurate Key detection for smooth harmonic mixes There’s accurate buildin key detection right in Cross DJ: no need for third party software anymore. Key can be displayed in classic notation or harmonic code, making it easy to find matching tracks. Key control and dynamic display Key is just as important as BPM. Cross DJ displays it straight into the deck header. Match it automatically to the master deck, or change the pitch manually by semitones. The dynamic key display reflects those changes, and turns white when in harmony. Browsing by key is now super easy: key compatible tunes are highlighted in bright orange. Focus on other search criteria, and the key still pops up. Easy browsing with new full screen collection Selection is the heart of DJing. The collection view is now more intuitive than ever with the new miniplayers. It gives more space to browse tracks, while keeping an eye on what’s playing. Additionally, you can now drag and drop tracks between players and samplers useful when you have only one turntable or CDJ. Peak view markers : better understanding of track structure DJs are used to production software grids to understand a track’s structure. Cross DJ is the first DJ application to show those markers on the track’s peak view, making it easy to mix musical phrases. Seeking a couple regular members who have the ability to commit time for the greater good of ADJF. All I'm looking for is a couple people willing to scour the net for DJ and relevant music related media for reposting (while crediting the original site/author of course). Let me know your interest and commitment level below. I just want to get some more proper content on here, nahmsayin? Pros: You get a staff tag and become forever elite Cons: You may have difficulty dealing with all the women who want you now

Watch the video above to see a video from when Future Music visited Joachim Garraud's incredible Paris home and studio in 2011. Here he explains how he's managed to merge a live show complete with Keytar control and the flexibility of a regular DJ set. Below FM get the lowdown on the live rig and how it came together. Were you using Serato before you started developing the tools for the show? "No, I was DJing with CDs before the new show and Serato were the first company to help me achieve this video project and they are a really cool bunch of guys. Together we are working the product live and I report back to them with bugs, or things I think that could be added or changed." Do you think there'll be lots of competition for these types of shows now that you have condensed the equipment used? "Yes, because of you! [laughs] No, but you're right, touring with just a laptop is the dream. Making a flexible, compact and reliable setup that you can just show up at a venue, like a DJ but produce this synchronised AV show, with a performance aspect too – it's great. The keytar is actually the biggest part of setup. All I need at the venue are the screens, two CDJ-2000s and a MIDI-enabled mixer like the DJM-800." What model is the keytar? "Ah, this is the cool one, the [Roland] AX-1. They stopped making these in 1992 though so I have to buy them from eBay. I actually have five black ones and one red one! I tried the new one that came out recently, the AX-7, but it was too big and heavy for me. I like the idea that I am making music of the future with these tools of the past. One of the keytars was actually the one they used on the Pink Floyd world tour, which is so cool to have – that one is special and doesn't get used." [laughs] Source: musicradar

Hear 16 remarkably similar EDM drops edited into a single 60 second track Swedish DJ duo Daleri highlight the repetitiveness of 'big room' house It's hardly a new phenomenon. Numerous summers have played out across Ibiza and the festival circuit in a similar manner: one track will become a huge summer anthem thanks to a distinctive hook, or 'drop', and suddenly hundreds of other tracks emerge that use that exact same sound. And it's not exactly a pattern that's limited to mainstream house music either. To highlight the point though, Swedish DJ duo Daleri have produced a minute long mash-up, titled Mashleg, comprised of the 'drops' of 16 tracks currently sitting near the top of Beatport's electro house and progressive house charts. The results are both amusing and fairly remarkable - it's a blur of identikit percussive leads and beefy claps, and it quickly becomes genuinely difficult to differentiate between one track and the next. Listen below to hear for yourself: http://soundcloud.com/daleri/epic-mashleg It's worth noting that Daleri themselves aren't exactly a pair of avant-garde boundary pushers. The duo are very much part of the big room house circuit; themselves producing notably drop-focused tracks, some of which have been released on the same labels as artists used in their mash-up. Speaking to Spin the pair defended their productions, claiming their music "is more like complextro, and a lot of things are going on in the drops, which I think is different from the songs we put in the mashleg." We'll leave you to listen to their music for yourself and make your own judgement on that one. Tracks used in Daleri's mash-up: Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike - Wakanda (Original Mix) [intro] Alvaro & Moti - NaNaNa (Original Mix) Pyero - Genesis (Original Mix) Chuckie, Dzeko & Torres - Down To This (Original Mix) Makj - Springen (Original Mix) Sini - Razz (Original Mix) Pelari - Cango (Original Mix) Krewella - Alive (Hardwell Remix) Shermanology - The Only Way (Original Mix) W&W - Thunder (Original Mix) Gta, Henrix & Digital Lab - Hit It! (Original Mix) Sultan, Ned Shepard, Fedde Le Grand - No Good (Extended Mix) Henrix, Wayne & Woods - Jumangee (Original Mix) [Tiesto Club Life Rip] Alvaro & Mercer feat. Lil Jon - Welcome To The Jungle (Original Mix) Klauss Goulart & Mark Sixma - Rio (Original Mix) Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike - Wakanda (Original Mix) [Outro] Source: musicradar

Offering the likes of cue point, loop and sample control, the idea is that the app enables you to use many of the software's functions without you having to touch your laptop. You can also load tracks, tweak FX and see your virtual decks and track overview. The app is compatible with all Scratch Live- and Serato DJ-compliant hardware and promises a clean and clear interface that's easy to use in a performance environment. You can find out more on the Serato website or buy Serato Remote on the Apple App Store. It costs £13.99/$19.99. Source: musicradar

Nicolas Jaar ditches Clown & Sunset, launches new label Other People After four years of pushing the envelope with a string of stellar releases, the odd live exhibit at MoMA and one lofty, music-playing prism, Nicolas Jaar’s Clown & Sunset imprint is no more. Speaking to Resident Advisor, the New Yorker has revealed that he’s rebranding: C&S is out, new label Other People is in. Jaar hasn’t offered much of an explanation as to why he’s launching a new label, but devout Clown & Sunset followers should be pleased to hear that most of the original cast of artists seem to have stuck around. The first Other People release, a compilation titled Trust, is due to arrive on September 2 and will feature contributions from various former-Clown & Sunset names: Dave Harrington (one half of Jaar’s Darkside project), Acid Pauli, Nikita Quasim, Valentin Stip and Jaar himself all feature on the tracklist. So what else do we know? According to the label head himself, Other People will be a “serial label”. Jaar explains: “Like a magazine, we deliver new content each week. Every Sunday, our members will receive a new issue.” Over the weekend, Jaar got behind the decks for underground streaming pros Boiler Room in Chicago, his laptop plastered in hard-to-miss Other People stickers – unfortunately, though, it seems the set was plagued by technical difficulties. There’s been no official word on what went wrong, but Jaar’s perfectionist streak is well known, particularly when it comes to sound quality. The full Trust tracklist is below – more info on the new label is, hopefully, to come. Trust tracklist: 01. Will Epstein – Trust I 02. Nikita Quasim – The Way I Felt Today 03. My Girl & Me – Always Back To You 04. Quentin Pistol – Qè 05. David Terranova – Kinq 06. High Water – Railroad Song 07. Benjha – Gravity 08. Acid Pauli – The Gap And The Grip 09. Triangleline – Chronon And Echo 10. Valentin Stip – Temple 11. Nicolas Jaar – Break My Love 12. Dave Harrington Remix Feat. Tamara – Why Didn’t You Save Me 13. Will Epstein – Trust II Written by Katie Cunningham

Not sure if the same level of staff involvement can be applied here. Many have become busy with project/work/study etc so won't be able to apply the same high level of involvement as the last noob comp.
