  11. 1. Where did your DJ/Producer name come from? Well i currently go under 2 names. the first one being 'knocked up noise' is a collaboration with a good friend, tbh not to sure where the name came from, i think his brother suggested with it, and we just took it and kept with it. My other is Swiss which is one of my few nicknames, i also have 'swiss' tattoed on my lip. 2. How long have you been playing & how did it all begin; What factors came together for you to take an interest in DJ'ing/Producing? Production ive been doing since march 2008. that all started when my brother started a short music course at tafe, which he got a free copy of Fl studio's, my brother being pretty computer illiterate at the time just gave it to me. I had no idea what it was at first, but like alot of things, youtube taught me haha. I started djing around december 08/january 09. a good mate of mine had recently got his own cdj's. after seeing him do a few mixes on them i was hooked on buying my own, seemed to be a good choice as i was making electronic music as well. 3. What do you spin? How would you describe your sound and what sort of style/DJ's influence you? When i play out i mainly play your ussualy club sounds, Electro/house and all its sub genre's. At home its a bit of everything, dubstep, breaks, party, old school, disco, house, electro, hiphop, id like to incorporate all of these into my live sets but im not well practiced enough at switching between all those genre's just yet. my biggest influences would probaly be ajax, his style of mixing is awesome, although i havnt seen him live for a while, most dj's just mix in and mix out. ajax is jumping from tracks, using acpellas and sample, making things entertaining with out using the mix in and mix out technique. 4. What are your weapons of choice? Djing 2xcdj400's, dxm 06 numark mixer and a djm 700 mixer. And for production currently using Logic pro 9, no monitors yet, using some headphones. and a laptop. thats it. 5. If you could change 1 thing along your way up to where you are now, what would it be and why? id of liked to of started on vinyl's and not cdj's as im now to poor to buy TT's haha. 6. If you could put yourself as the resident DJ in any scene, where would you choose and why? tough question. id love a residency at the smart bar playing jacking house wonky fidget along side the pottymouth crew, that'd be ideal haha. 7. What other Australian DJ's/Producers do you rate? Dj's i rate highly would be ajax, ember, bounce crew dj's, all do great live shows, seen most of them more then 5 times and never get bored. Producers would be Audiobotz, not big yet but love their stuff, check em out. Tom piper is killing it, and one last one would be nick thayer, been turning some heads internationally 8. What was the first album you ever bought? first album i bought was Parkway drive's Dont close your eyes album haha. Used to be a bit of a 'HxC' kid

  18. 1. Where did the name come from? Hmm that's a hard one to start things off , the name comes from gandalf the grey from lord of the rings, so i usually go by the name gandy or wizard. Why am i called Gandy? I've had the name for so long I cant actually remember why it was given to me, but seeing as everybody knows me by that i thought i might as well roll with it for my DJ name as well 2. How long have you been playing & how did it all begin; What factors came together for you to take an interest in DJ'ing/Producing? I have been playing for approx 6 months now. I have always had a passion for music since I was a little rug rat, played piano from a young age and got up to theory level 5 I think it was. Had a bit of a break during high school then started going clubbing and fell in love with music again. I really enjoyed the fact that it didn’t matter that I had the worst week in the world, I could go to my favourite club and see my favourite DJ and I would be the happiest person on the planet. To be able to invoke so much emotion in someone I felt was a very powerful and rewarding feeling, especially seeing the floors reaction when you drop a bomb that everyone loses their shit too. 3. What do you spin? How would you describe your sound and what sort of style/DJ's influence you? I seem to swap every week, but it usually flicks between prog house and electro house. On my prog house weeks I would describe my sound as ministry of sound esque with pinch of filth, a dash of electro and a blend of beautiful female vocale. When I'm on my electro rags I would describe it as dirty chunky bass beats with the tendency to induce uncontrollable wobbles and vibration 4. What are your weapons of choice? At home for Club Kin Kora I spin on 2 x cdj 350s with a djm 350 mixer. I get wet when I get to jump on the 2000s though I wish I had those babies 5. If you could change 1 thing along your way up to where you are now, what would it be and why? remove dvs. I honestly feel that this has taken away the art form. You cant wake up one morning, buy a laptop with a dvs system and decide your going to be a ballet dancer, push 2 buttons (beat sync and play) then be a ballet dancer. It takes years and years of dedication and hard work and finesse to be able to perform that in a show (as does being a true DJ). To me being an entertainer and performer takes passion and deep seeded commitment to always bettering yourself, and really putting on a show that everyone will enjoy and remember. It irks me that "everyone’s a DJ" and spoilt little upstarts are getting mummy and daddy to go buy them a laptop and tsp/serato then calling themselves DJs just to be cool /end rant (In my humble opinion) 6. If you could put yourself as the resident DJ in any scene, where would you choose and why? I want to end up at Ibiza, I want to be the best. Ibiza is still regarded as "the" place to play in my opinion, I think I could finally say "I made it" when I get a residency there, and id love to catch up with Sarah Main and buy her a drink and thank her for her beginner videos 7. What other Australian DJ's/Producers do you rate? Vandalism, The Potbelleez, Dirty South, Goodwill 8. What was the first album you ever bought? Ministry of Sound Annual 2007, oh my what an album. Soooooo many good memories from this I get goosebumps every time I listen to it. Nearly every track on this album reminds me of a personal story. Its quite interesting listening to recent annuals and seeing how much they have changed since then. http://www.facebook.com/djgandyau http://soundcloud.com/djgandy
