Editing track details

so im trying to clean up my tracks. mainly for private usage.

now for some tracks i can simply go in and edit the contributing artist easy as u like.

but for some reason it wont let me click and edit for others

so far as i can see there is no difference between teh tracks. same types bit rates etc.

but idk why i cant edit them to show artist

what is the process your using to try and edit?

Also what program are you doing this in?

just through properties menu

my music>track>right click properties>details>contributing artist

sometimes i can edit then, sometimes i cant

1st step - try this

1. Right click on the folder where ALL your music is kept (e.g. C:\users\alexj\Music\)

2. Click properties

3. Click the security tab then click edit

4. find your user and make sure full control is ticked

5. Click apply and ok

6. go to the general tab, untick read-only (if it is supposedly unticked already tick it and hit apply, then continue).

7. click apply. select apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files. click ok.

then try edit a file.

another suggestion is to use an Id3 tag editor program. they usually read more formats then built in windows id3 tag reader.

if you use itunes use that, also traktor should edit the file directly.

i cant get properties for my music? its a library?

go to C:\users\whateveryouruseraccountis\

music folder is there

yer it still didnt work

same folders wont let me add artist

Try right click on those individual folders and do above instructions

K So i can add them in traktor.

but why wont it let me do it in normal menus?

still no dice

and changing tags in traktor doesnt change them in main(the root) folder

also, i unclick 'read only' hit apply but then then it reapplies itself when i go back into properties menu again?
