so overall i guess i would like an external Sata.

so for that i will buy an Internal sata disk with a housing and the housing having Esata outputs/inputs and USB too.

and also get what dj dennis has posted for my desktop computer. because it doesnt have any esata slots.. and that should be ok?

what are the speeds of a Esata transfer? from the top of my head i think i heard usb2.0 is 250 mB/s

I did some more light reading last night and I would now suggest you got for a USB 3.0 external. I wouldnt bother with Esata as it requires an external power source.

-USB 3.0 is as fast as Esata...

-It supplies more power than the past, which means It can power desktop size drives without externalpower...

-It has more bandwidth than what the hard drives max transfer ability

-It IS compatible with USB 2.0 which means it will work anywhere anytime.

Something to think about.
