Bass Bin Mk1...

Recently decided to go ahead with a project that I've been thinking about for ages (inspired by a street busker with a similar set up but he was using a midi unit and was creating the music live!).

Basically its a inexpensive 5.1 surround system mounted in a bin. The music is controlled by a Hercules console with Virtual Dj software. I have since recessed the 'monitor speaker'under the top deck.

Hi Buck...

Its mains powered but I have seen one (on the net) that had a 12 volt battery and car stereo sytem installed (6X9 speakers on either side). I'm not sure how long it would last especially if you also installed a sub woofer.

The lower third of mine is empty so I've always wondered if I could get a battery of some kind to run the bin.

The first bin I came across was a guy with a similar set up but with just a midi controller (no computer) on the top deck. He was busking in the city centre and was making some really cool basslines etc on the fly.

I think BBV2 will have more powerfull swing out speakers on the side and a downward facing sub with ports arround the bottom of the bin. I'd also like to fit me CDJ400s on the top deck but am yet to figure out how to squeeze in a mixer.
