  1. ^ summed it up pretty nicely there! thanks again guys!
  2. O. That makes sense then, ta! Alright thanks all. I'll go traktor!
  3. Alright so hopefully getting a mixer on monday - (numark m4) decided what tt's im getting - stanton t62s monitors decided too,- reloop adm5s had some final questions regarding software, i.e. Serato scratch live 2 VS Traktor scratch A6 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. ive heard some mixed opinions on the stability of traktor on windows. im not sure if this is because people who have windows and traktor have crappy computers, or if its actually just windows. I have a custom built gaming computer, and its pretty slick on performance. so just just just to be sure, reckon this will suffice? 2. for you people out there who use either, i'd love your opinions. pros and cons ?! 3. for traktor A6 people, i looked at some sample setups: http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... s/?type=99 i know they're only examples, but there is still a setup in which you can connect the decks, mixer & 2xmonitors and a computer to the A6 right ? 4. SL2 is close to 600 bucks, whereas traktor a6 is 380. ..any idea what might be the difference in the two which leads to a 200 buck difference?!!
  4. true. i have a guitar amp, but thought that getting decent monitors was a good idea cause itll gimme sterio sound and avoid getting new ones later itlll gimme 200 bucks extra , might not get anything anythin spectacular with that in com, parision with the 62s, or will they?!
  5. oh okay. screw them then haha. i just looked at the 180 W and then the price, and didnt really make sense. ill look at some others! cheers!
  6. Hey found these: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Audioline-2x-6-ACTIVE-STUDIO-MONITOR-SPEAKERS-180W-as-new-both-active-ALSM60-/170871884868?pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item27c8c20c44 I have no idea why they are so cheap, considering they are 180 Watts. any tech-junkie wanna take a look and advise if these are worth getting ?! Ta!
  7. wonderful thanks for the info again! i also found this on gumtree : Pioneer DJM400 http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/st-kilda ... 1003779211 these are selling for 350 lol, other people selling it for 500 + might give this a shot if dflux doesn't have his anymore o ok, ill think about this! thanks a bunch mate
  8. the mixer dflux is selling has 3 channels. - hows the crossfade work with that!? with 2 , the middle allows for both decks to go live, with 3, will the middle just allow channel 2 ? but, if he's still got it, im defz gonna contact him! its a good deal! btw, theyre goood, but crundys turnies are 750 each lol, .
  9. they look great, but had a look at prices , and at llyodc's offer, still a bit too dear. im thinking i may get those 2 stanton 62s for 500 bucks, then later on get a pair of pioneer cdj's.
  10. i see..! mm haha, blah, doesn't interest me at the moment then! ~ thanks man, well, I have, things like if the 'soundcard' was the hardware thing- AUDIO 10 , you get with traktor scratch pro a10 and stuff, thats not explicitly mentioned so had to ask that. and haha well, since this is the beginners section, i thought i should ask some basic questions like what midi is, benefits of traktor and sl, and etc. but i assure you, im researching a lot! spent all day yesterday! and yeah there are, but in australia i dont think there are many. ill find some groups or forums regarding it and see what they reckon! thanks! but isnt 2 turntables the norm? for convenience sake ?! and what if im scratching and wanting to play a normal track at the same time... ? ill need 2 wont i ? and yeah, well, i cant do any of that stuff yet, because i don't know any of it, being a beginner i think i can handle the serato/traktor with turntables, learning the basics, - scratching, beat juggling, mixing in general. i reckon once i become proficient at that, ill move onto midi stuff. 2 turntables and a microphone.. haha yeah two turntables is the norm but as wazza pooints out due to the technology is not needed. i was down at the golden monkey in melbourne (live band and dj on thursday nights! check it people) and the dj there was using one 1200 and serato. what happens is once you have transitioned to the track you want you clone it onto the other deck and then specify the turntable as a new deck. then you load the next song (or some scratch samples) and then do the next transition. once done clone, and then repeat. having said this though, the reason why i learnt to use traktor without using any features is because i play at mates houses where it is straight vinyl. oo yeah, and a microphone! .. speakers and a mixer ? i see.., well, for the sake of some turntablism, getting 2 decks sounds preferable ! although that is a very smart idea!!
  11. Haha, sweet. Wasn't sure if it was an actual sound card, or a piece of hardware/dongle.. thanks. EDIT. Dont know what happened, but i wrote up my findings.. anyways here it goes again: I did some research and looked at the storeDj website. Firstly, the A10 is selling for 579 bucks, and yes, that is including the hardware, software, and a 'free' remix deck. - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NI-TSA10 Now i thought this was a fair deal, but when you mentioned that the 4deck thing, I had a look at some others, and i came across: Traktor scratch pro A6 ! - https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NI-TSA10 its exactly the same as A10 except the soundcard thing is different, and differs in that: "And if you're looking for even more connectivity and a MIDI port (e.g. for MASCHINE sync),check out TRAKTOR SCRATCH A10." so it doesnt have more connectivity and a midi port.. the good thing about it is, its selling for 379 bucks! now, looking at serato : https://www.storedj.com.au/products/RAN-SL2 this is selling for 589 bucks..! So basically, at the moment, i'm particularly keen on the traktor SP A6 because it is cheaper, suits my deck needs, i get that remix deck haha, and its got the latest software. i just need to determine if the software issues are going to bother me much, - more on this below.. ^this! I have to think about it. If its better to get the A6 or the A8.. which i think is now discontinued by NI. But again, hahah, for PC, yeah.. which is better is the question. I'm hearing you, TSP isn't as good as serato on pc! I just need to figure out what I need based on the fact im still a beginner and my budget which is probably 1500 bucks all up. :\ and also, won't be working in clubs or stuff for a while still, so I don't really have to consider it for club use anyway Second hand gear is also an option in terms of money, but if i'm getting some decent stuff brand new with the warranty and ease of return option, i'd rather opt for that. But, ill consider it. lemme do some more research and I'll try and find some good deals. Hey nah thats okay:) haha oo ok, well if I do get that A6, it'll come with the soundcard by the looks of it, so, based on my budget i'll opt for some mixer which is good but not expensive. found this : https://www.storedj.com.au/products/NUM-M101 looks simple and its relatively cheap anyway back on topic: the stanton t-62s are direct drive as are the previously mentioned audio technica lp120 usb tt's. yeah, well for home use, and even if i want to use it outside home, i wont be needing to share it now, so ill opt for 2 decks , which the a6 covers. Mm, well, I dont know if ill be using all the features,. I will probably use the remix deck if I get traktor, and I honestly don't know how much of the software i'll use. in mind, i had pictured myself using the control vinyl, my own songs, some scratching and dj techniques, then some effects.. once i get it ill learn it and then i'll use it, but i cant tell now ! and aw haha, bad luck..! :\ Hello okay, well thats assuring i see, well .. since I am at home, i could just use my desktop.. which is a gaming computer hahah, its pretty juiced up for when it was built, - last year, but if cpu, ram and stuff are a matter of concern, desktop could relieve that? and when i decide im going to exit the bedroom & enter the real world, i could get a good laptop . and the hassling of cables bit wont bother me for now! o yea? not bad.. i'll read up on em. I wanna be able to scratch and stuff so lemme have a little read thanks thanks thanks everyone, you know you're at the right place when theres so much help around!
  12. haha, regardless of what clubs do, im not at that level yet. I wanna basically be a bedroom dj for a while, learning everything on turntables, before i get cdjs. regarding the traktor, eggssell, do you recommend it? or have you used serato before? btw i had a question eggssell, in my other thread, you said : firstly, which mixer do you use? secondly, are the soundcards actual soundcards you have to get put into the laptop, or is it a dongle type thing? cause ive been trying to look em up on the net for a while, and all that comes up in reference to soundcard is the actual hardware piece you get. i.e. http://www.native-instruments.com/en/pr ... 0/?type=99 in terms of value for money, that A10 sounds better. because IF i want to connect 4 decks i can, and im paying the same price for the rane sl2 ! seems to be some conflict in terms of whether serato or traktor is better for windows lol.. ill find some reviews on the net about it and get back to you guys
  13. I You only need one turntable......to control 2 deck in your DVS software I love my vestax PDX 3000 mk2....the midi input on the vestax 3000 is the best thing ever...it opens up to a hole new world off scratching using tones/ notes.. Heres an old vid off me on my vestax pdx 3000 ....using the midi sampler / sequencer to control the Vestax turntable ( by moog VSTi ) and the sampler in the software at the same time but isnt 2 turntables the norm? for convenience sake ?! and what if im scratching and wanting to play a normal track at the same time... ? ill need 2 wont i ? and yeah, well, i cant do any of that stuff yet, because i don't know any of it, being a beginner i think i can handle the serato/traktor with turntables, learning the basics, - scratching, beat juggling, mixing in general. i reckon once i become proficient at that, ill move onto midi stuff.
  14. haha, mm, will need to look at some tutes regarding this first.. any good ones you know ?
