By rent I mean a local council owned hall. Has toilets and a stage. Holds upto around 600-700 people. I have to inquire about the going rates for security. I'm looking at having it on a friday night at the end of the second school term, gives me a bit more time to organize everything

Not sure where I should put this topic so move it if necessary. I plan on doing an "all school social" in my local area. Basically its what you would call an U18's event. There is roughly 10 high schools all within 30minutes of eachother. I plan on marketing to all of them (with permission of course). Having only graduated high school a couple of years ago I know the local crowd pretty well. I have all my own gear, i'd probably have to hire a bit more lighting and probably another dual 18" sub however everything is readily accessible for hire. I'm just wondering what sort of things other people have encountered when going about an event such as this?

Budget is <$300 Could potentially push my budget for traktor. Can anyone give advise on both TSP and mix vibes cross?

I just bought 2 second-hand citronic pd45's. I want to run timecode as lugging around crates doesn't look appealing. My question is simple. Is the following package; http://www.djcity.com.au/dj-gear/digita ... vibes-pack a decent soundcard and user friendly software? I've never used any mixvibes program and was wondering if anybody here uses it, if so please give me any positive or negative feedback. SSL is way out of my budget so please don't suggest it. OR would it be in my best interest to purchase this package instead: http://www.djcity.com.au/dj-gear/digita ... vibes-pack I understand is a $200 price difference but im not exactly sure what the difference is between the two packages Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The small black cable, I think it's a 1/8 plug. If you look at the back of a 700 you'll see 4 channel inputs (RCA) and next to those in the first two channels is a small black input which will say "control" over it. When you hook up your decks to a mixer you use two RCA's and 1 control cable. My question is, can you hook up 4 decks to a 700? From what I can see you can't...

My djm300 decided to fry its 2nd channel when I was doing a 16th last weekend. Tested it out yesterday and I'm cant visually see the channel output levels and I'm getting barely any sound out of my monitors. It's under warranty but I'm getting cash back and upgrading to the 700. However when I had a look at the back of the DJM700 I noticed that there was only 2 deck control inputs (channels 1 and 2), so my question is, can I hook 4 decks upto the 700?

If they're certain it's the power supply get the serial number or any info on the actual power supply itself and take that info to any electrical wholesaler for a quote (L and H, cetnaj, cnw etc), then call up a few different sparkies and ask if they can change a power supply in a speaker, they shouldn't charge anymore then $80 an hour and my guess is it should take under 15 minutes for a sparkie to change a power supply... I have no idea how anyone could quote $1000 to change a power supply...

The speakers are from an American supplier so youll probably have to get new IEC leads or just cut the end of the lead off and replace it with a new 3 pin plug. Everything i've been told about Djing is "you get what you pay for". If you want to get a controller then you will need a decent laptop to run Traktor, personally I use CDJ's (slowly getting into vinyl). I'm only relatively new to djing aswell, however i've spent around $5000 just on gear alone. As an electrician i've managed to get my PA extremely cheap (Turbosound and AMPRO gear). Really it's upto you if you really want to invest into djing gear although if I was you I would probably save up some more coin and do it properly.

So where do you buy the majority of your vinyl from online, any online stores to avoid?

Thanks heaps for clarifying the differences in vinyl. I was talking to one of the tradesmen at work today and he was saying something about how the "thinner" vinyl can 'warp' if left in crates during the hotter months, has anyone had this misfortune before? Personally I'll be buying alot of my vinyl online as there's not really any designated vinyl stores around Byron/gold coast tht I know of

Ahh mobbn deep - shook ones II instrumental? Definitely a killer tune Yeah I'll never get rid of my cdjs but I want that feeling of finally finding that track on a 12inch instead of just going over to beat port for the mp3... Physical media is where it's at

http://www.djcity.com.au/dj-gear/dj-tur ... -turntable Would they be acceptable for a bedroom setup to learn on? So the basic concept still applies to vinyl though? Play track 1 To the crowd Cue track 2 in your headphones Put track 1 in your headphones Play track 2 on the first beat (1-2-3-4, 2-2-3-4, etc) Use the mixer channel volume outputs to send track 2 to the crowd.

Hey, Ive been looking at making the transfer to vinyl from cdjs. I have no knowledge in vinyl and would like to have a bedroom setup to muck around on and possibly play put in the future. I'm just running a 350. Complete setup and was wondering exactly what I would need. Is my 350 mixer suitable? What is the industry standard program for viny, serato? If so why? What sort of budget would I need for 2 turntables, no I won't need 1200s, just something that is around the intermediate level. And what is the difference between all the different "types" of vinyl available? I know all these questions are very beginner ish but I thought this would be the best place to ask them. Thanks in advance for any answers
