I don't quite know what you mean about "the most common way" or the "best" way; every track is different and will have different requirements depending on the other track you are mixing in and what feel you want for your mix. But you seem to be getting the phrases to match well.. I think it's just a matter of what kind of energy you want... If you go through the buildup, breakdown, outro for every track it can get a bit tiresome for listeners though, imo.
