We are gradually learning more about The Many Saints of Newark, the upcoming prequel film to HBO’s celebrated television series The Sopranos. Last week show creator David Chase divulged that the movie would explore “Tony’s boyhood” and feature prominently the stories of his father Johnny Boy and uncle Junior Soprano. Now, Variety reports that Vera Farmiga and Jon Bernthal have joined the cast, although their exact roles are yet to be revealed. Farmiga is known for playing paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren in the The Conjuring franchise and recently starred alongside Hugh Jackman in The Front Runner. She is currently filming the Netflix series Central Park Five and has roles in the upcoming films Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Captive State. Bernthal plays the titular role in Netflix’s Daredevel spin-off The Punisher, which is returning this month for its second season. He will also star alongside Shia LaBeouf in the forthcoming indie film Peanut Butter Falcon. The pair join Alessandro Nivola, who will portray Dickey Moltisanti, the deceased uncle of Tony Soprano and father of Christopher Moltisanti. We’ve heard no other casting details at this time, but production for The Many Saints of Newark is set to begin by New Line and Warner Bros. later this year. Source

Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd recently unleashed their collab together, which stirred up some initial excitement. Now, it’s making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Weeknd’s lyrics have always been sexualized and graphic, but he may have taken this one too far. The singer is being called out for some controversial lyrics, as heard in “Lost In The Fire.” Particularly, there’s one verse causing debate for obvious reasons. Basic synopsis: The Weeknd pursues a girl who is into girls, dismisses her lesbianism, and proposes a three way so he can fuck her “straight.” Yikes. [Verse 2] I’m tired of being home alone (Home alone) I used to have a girl a day (Girl a day) Yeah, I want you to stay (I want you to stay, hey) You said you might be into girls (Into girls) You said you’re going through a phase (Through a phase) Keepin’ your heart safe (Keepin’ your heart safe, oh) Well, baby, you can bring a friend (Bring a friend) She can ride on top your face (Top your face) While I fuck you straight (While I fuck you straight, yeah) I’m guilty of listening to the song, even breezing through the lyrics, and not realizing that some of the message could be hurtful and offensive. Honestly, we wrote it off as a “Starboy 2.0” and had already moved on, but this is certainly a conversation that needs to be had. Read some of the discussion going on via Twitter below. “Lost In The Fire” Lyrics Well done to @theweeknd for managing to deride, fetishise and dismiss lesbianism all in one verse. pic.twitter.com/iefdhs8ACw — Marika Hackman (@MarikaHackman) January 11, 2019 i don't like cancel culture & i'm not saying "cancel the weeknd," but these are the kinds of lyrics that fucked me up when i was younger & subconsciously kept me in the closet. so it's important to talk about and say "this is isn't ok" — Jill Gutowitz (@jillboard) January 11, 2019 RT if you think the weeknd should take a weekend off to think about respecting a. sexual orientation b. women and c. himself https://t.co/Q3Fvea68pE — Ellen Penrose (@ellenpenrose_) January 11, 2019 absolutely not here for @theweeknd's new song which is #1 on @Spotify's new music right now despite its blatant lesbo and biphobia https://t.co/HhyHuVpHh5 — Trish Bendix (@trishbendix) January 11, 2019 H/T: Tone Deaf | Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. The late country-folk icon Townes Van Zandt would have turned 75 on March 7th. To mark the occasion, TVZ Records are teaming up with Fat Possum to release a collection of previously unreleased music the songwriter drafted back in 1973 with his close friend Bill Hedgepeth. Sky Blue runs 11 tracks that span raw demos of TVZ’s celebrated classics, traditional covers, and two new originals. The album is led by the single and opening track “All I Need”, a weathered, plaintive strummer. Across verses of run-on sentence reflection, TVZ outlines his trials and troubles – wishing for just a little bit of relief over music that carries itself like a shoulder to rest on. You can listen below. Find the Sky Blue tracklist below. The album is out March 7th. Sky Blue Tracklist: 01. All I Need 02. Rex’s Blues 03. Hills of Roane County 04. Sky Blue 05. Dillon Francis and Alison Wonderland‘s new collaboration is almost here! “MIXED MASTERED ALL DONE GET FUCKING READY,” Dillon shares in the short video clip below. Of course, the collab is front and center — and it’s impossible to take our ears off it. “Lost My Mind” is sounding incredibly clean and as heavy as ever. After first premiering the ID at EDC Orlando, it has become a fast favorite among both fan bases. Two months later, this collababy is ready. Dillon and Alison have been playing it out during live sets like a hidden gem, but soon enough we can listen to it anytime. Which will probably be often. Check out the polished version “Lost My Mind” — or at least 11 seconds of it — right here! P.S. See them both in action on their co-headlining Lost My Mind Tour. For some reason, Diplo’s sexual orientation has long been a debate among gossip blogs and intolerant fans. Diplo has exhibited elements of both hetero- and homosexuality, and has even tweeted before that he was “only half gay.” (Back in 2016 this apparently caused some confusion, but even just 2.5 years later, the world is much more tolerant of nonbinary sexuality.) Tweeting last week about Gossip Girl character Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, some grouch replied wondering, “Y’all sure he is str8? [sic]” Diplo responded simply, “masculinity is a prison.” blair waldorf is the upper east side tony soprano — YBN Grouchy (@diplo) January 8, 2019 masculinity is a prison https://t.co/Rx9LeP1CYN — YBN Grouchy (@diplo) January 8, 2019 Diplo’s answer is both a scathing condemnation of toxic masculinity as well as a broader look into what makes the renowned producer/DJ/musician tick. Diplo has had two children with his ex, Kathryn Lockhart, but he’s also kissed Pabllo Vittar last year in the Brazilian drag star’s “Então Vai” music video. He’s also been a huge supporter of producer/DJ KANDY, who came out as gay last year and has been a major advocate for gay culture in his music. If this is the Diplo we get to know in 2019, rather than the one picking fights with Zedd, or awkwardly hitting on Cardi B after her very public breakup with Offset, we’re about it. Instagram revolutionized the “like” system with its double tap. But much of that love has been reserved for the biggest celebrities and influencers — that is, until now. On January 4th, the World Record Egg set out to break the record for most likes. In just over a week, Kylie Jenner has been dethroned. This simple shot of an egg (and all of its natural curves) proves anything is possible with the power of social media. “Let’s set a world record together and get the most liked post on Instagram,” the caption reads. “Beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner (18 million)! We got this.” The World Record Egg is now, officially, the most liked picture on Instagram. The post has racked up 31 million likes and counting. EGG GANG! After the tragic passing of another teen at the recent FOMO music festival the last people you’d expect to be demanding for pill testing would be the family, but they have released a statement pleading for the premiere to consider pill testing. 19-year old Alexandra Ross-King sadly fell ill while at the Sydney leg of the festival and was rushed to hospital from a suspected overdose from an unknown substance where she passed away with family by her side. She is the 5th person to tragically die in just a handful of months following deaths at a number of music festivals including Lost Paradise, Defqon and Knockout Games. Alex’s uncle Phil Clarke told Ten News First “Strong leadership isn’t always about sticking to an ideological decision or a position when there’s possibly mountain evidence or advice that maybe something else should be tried,” adding “Strong leadership is trying something different.” – some evidence to note was the successful pill testing trial last year at Groovin the Moo in Canberra, enough so that it satisfied the ACT Chief Health Officer to back it. Denise Doig, Alex’s grandmother also told Ten News First “I just don’t want this to go, just pass by. I’d like this to have some legacy, and that is to get these pills tested,” going further by saying “The reason I want the pills tested is, we’re not stopping them from being out there. adding “Premier, please: can we have this pill testing done. It’s such a small thing to do, it’s not hard. Let’s try and get it out there.” before finally adding “If it saves one life — one life is a life. And these are children. In the news, they say ‘young woman’; to me, she’s still a child.” The Ross-King family and friends join a chorus of voices pushing for pill testing including; Australian Medical Association Royal Australasian College of Physicians National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre Former Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Palmer ACT Chief Health Commissioner Dr Paul Kelly Independent MP Doctor Keryn Phelps NZ Police Commissioner Stuart Nash Music event and festival organisers The Greens European counterparts UK Festival organisers Majority of young people and live music patrons according to recent polls There is already a group called STA-SAFE who will soon rebrand to Pill-Testing Australia who are ready to work with festivals around Australia but only when state governments change their views towards the scientific process. NSW Premiere Gladys Berejiklian went on Sunrise, an early morning TV program with an older demographic to argue her case but was met with Kochie and a surprising case for pill testing when he outlined that testing removes some of the dangers and could save kids lives, watch it below. “You’re not listening, they’re kids”@Kochie_Online takes on NSW Premier @GladysB over her dismissal of pill testing, which experts say will prevent drug deaths at music festivals. pic.twitter.com/a67EG4uHwR — Sunrise (@sunriseon7) January 13, 2019 Source

There is a Hot New Sensation Coming Out of Nashville Right Now Fast-rising star Mogli the Iceburg is making a breakout name for himself in the new year, following a buzzworthy 2018 with breakout tracks, “Some of Yall” and “BlackonBlack”. The Nashville, Tennessee-native drives into 2019 all gas, no breaks, with the release of his attention-grabbing new single, “Tread Lightly”. A dark production, layered with crafty wordplay and attitude, Mogli the Iceburg makes a statement on the new single. Bringing awareness to many unfamiliar with the producer/recording artist with slick punchlines, eye-opening play on words, over the battle-tested production. Undeniable that Mogli the Iceburg is a name that Hip-Hop needs to become very familiar with in 2019. On “Tread Lightly”, Mogli grabs fellow rising stars Nate Rose and Vic Sage along for the ride. The new track is the second collaboration between Rose and Mogli as the two previously released a single, titled, “Terra” Mogli on making “Tread Lightly”: “I wanted to build off the angsty and alternative vocal style that I incorporated on my last album, but bring it back to a Hip-Hop foundation.” Brief backstory on Mogli the Iceburg, glimpses of his mainstream arrival originally becoming present in 2015 with previous releases, “Back Then”, “Fallin”, and “15 Minutes”. The producer/recording artist has a traditional Hip-Hop style infused with a heart-pounding dance sound. Unique coming from his region; however, innovative move for the new breakout star. Mogli’s new single is receiving a lot of attention in Entertainment. “Tread Lightly” was recently featured on the new season of the hit NBC show, NBC’s Titan Games, hosted by movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. “Tread Lightly” is the perfect introduction for the emerging star as fans eagerly anticipate what coming from Mogli the Iceburg next. The NFL has made it official: Maroon 5 will headline the Super Bowl 2019 Halftime Show with special guests Travis Scott and Big Boi. Though the participation of both Maroon 5 and Travis Scott had been rumored for months, the NFL had to overcome several hurdles to get to today’s announcement. Before settling on Maroon 5 as its headliner, the league reached out to several other artists, including Rihanna, Pink, Nicki Minaj, and André 3000, but were rebuffed by each of them, reportedly in solidarity of Colin Kaepernick, the former NFL QB who was seemingly blackballed from the league for protesting police brutality. At the urging of JAY-Z, Scott himself nearly dropped out of the festivities, but agreed to move forward after the NFL made a substantial donation to social justice initiatives. Specifically, the NFL donated $500,000 to Van Jones’ Dream Corps, an organization which works on criminal justice reform and other social causes. “I back anyone who takes a stand for what they believe in. I know being an artist that it’s in my power to inspire. So before confirming the Super Bowl Halftime performance, I made sure to partner with the NFL on this important donation. I am proud to support Dream Corps and the work they do that will hopefully inspire and promote change,” Scott said in a statement. As for Big Boi, the Outkast rapper and Atlanta native brings some hometown talent to the Halftime Show. The Black Madonna, just like everyone else, had an amazing time on Holy Ship. So much so that she’s now reflecting on EDM music and the community as a whole. “I used to hate EDM and I still really don’t care for the music,” she opens up on Twitter. “But… I remember something Carl Cox said about how he was fine with EDM because it’s basically an entry point for young people in dance and how those people will stick around, the implication being tastes change.” She goes on to describe the various styles of music she experienced while on Holy Ship this year. Over five sets, she played “all the things” she usually plays. But, Holy Ship warmed her up to a world full of other music as well. “And to reiterate, I heard excellent music on this boat. I also heard EDM and it’s not my thing but I respect the diversity of listeners all sharing ideas and supporting each other and exploring new sounds. Remember that?” After being given more hugs and kandi than she knew what to do with, it’s safe to say her overall experience was a heartwarming one. She continues on with her relevant thread… “I will always be most me and most comfortable in a dirty basement or warehouse, but I’m glad I know these people and those hugs made me feel great and these are great kids figuring out who they are in dance music just like us old ravers used to be.” “Being jaded is lame,” she adds. This is your warm and fuzzy post for the day. Enjoy! deadmau5 low key just put out a “secret track” that’s really not so secret anymore… The mau5trap legend teamed up with fellow music producer and Twitch streamer dronehands on this new production. The mystery track entitled “The Horn Of Jericho” is part of October Forever, the new album from dronehands. In a live stream on Twitch, deadmau5 spilled the info on the collaboration. He says he was quite involved in making “like half” of the track including some of the melody. As you can hear, it’s totally different than what we’ve come to expect from mau5, but it’s a refreshing change of pace. “The Horn Of Jericho” is available here as a free download — but remember — it’s important to support the artists involved. In the endless saga of “will those Trumps ever do a single thing in public that doesn’t embarrass them in some way or another?”, we seem to break exciting new ground with each and every passing day. This time: apparently Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner didn’t take too kindly to Vice, a movie which exists to explain to audiences how Dick Cheney helped to usher in the kind of targeted cultural warfare that allowed for everything since November 8th, 2016 to happen. People reports that the duo took in a screening of Adam McKay’s Oscar hopeful around the holidays, starring Christian Bale, who you’ll remember from the sitting President of the United States possibly mistaking him for Batman. While visiting the Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, FL, the senior aides to the White House reportedly left well before McKay’s film was done playing: “Partway through the showing, she and Kushner and their Secret Service detail got up and left … It remains unclear what prompted the exit, though the witness describes it as abrupt.” Considering that Vice is pretty much the cinematic embodiment of what right-wing pundits love to condemn as “liberal bias,” it stands to reason that two beneficiaries of the systemic abuse the film chronicles wouldn’t be all that into it. We can only hope it was the Shakespeare that drove them out of their seats. Vice is now playing in theaters nationwide, and Ivanka and Jared remain two of the more powerful people in America right now. Source

We still have over a year more to wait for Wonder Woman 1984, as the full-on return of Gal Gadot‘s hit take on Wonder Woman won’t hit theaters until June 2020. In the meantime, however, Gadot is at least warming back up as the Amazonian superhero, as she’ll be among the many, many top stars lending their voices to the upcoming surefire-hit sequel The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Flickering Myth reports that Gadot will reprise her role as Diana Prince, albeit in small yellow block form, for the upcoming family sequel. This follows on the heels of news that Jason Momoa will also appear as his superhero doppelganger, Aquaman, in the sequel, as will Margot Robbie and Harley Quinn. Funnily, Will Arnett and Channing Tatum will respectively return as Batman and Superman, meaning that the DC-Warner Bros. synergy is clearly only partial. (And deferential to the surprisingly terrific The LEGO Batman Movie.) Gadot’s had a solid few months in animation, between this and her charming turn as a rebel-with-a-heart in Ralph Breaks the Internet. It’ll also surely continue to sate appetites for another Wonder Woman movie, especially the nostalgic period piece Patty Jenkins’ sequel is sure to take. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, meanwhile, will slowly clop its way into theaters, foot nub by foot nub, on February 8th. Source

Denver is making some serious mushroom moves! The city could become the first in the U.S. to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms, now that a petition has garnered enough support with approximately 9,500 signatures. The next step is to allow voters to decide on the May ballot — make magic mushrooms legal, or not? The advocacy group supporting the movement, Decriminalize Denver, has 25 days to verify the legitimacy of the signatures. Only 4,726 of the signatures need to be valid to move forward, according to a report. Psilocybin, the active ingredient so to speak in psychedelic mushrooms, has been known to help with a number of problems, including psychological stress and opioid addiction. However, the substance is still considered a Schedule I category drug, right up there with LSD and heroin. “We want people kept out of prison, families kept together,” Decriminalize Denver campaign director Kevin Matthews said. “That was the main motivation for this.” Decriminalizing marijuana really worked out for Denver and the entire state of Colorado. We’ll have to see about this. Sources: Rolling Stone, CNN This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Denver Might Just Become The First City To Decriminalize Magic Mushrooms Source

The airing of Lifetime’s Surviving R Kelly docu-series has prompted several musicians and former collaborators to finally distance themselves from the controversial R&B singer. The likes of Lady Gaga, Chance the Rapper, and Phoenix have all publicly apologized for working with Kelly and vowed never to do so again. Meanwhile, John Legend declared Kelly “a serial child rapist.” At least one musician is sticking by Kelly, however. TMZ caught up with rapper French Montana in Los Angeles over the weekend. While Montana acknowledged that Kelly is likely a sexual predator — he pointed to the lyrics in Kelly’s song “Bump N’ Grind” as evidence — Montana also said Kelly should be allowed to “enjoy [his] legacy.” “They don’t let nobody have their legendary moments. They did Michael Jackson like that, they did R Kelly like that,” Montana said. “All the greats went down like that. Let somebody enjoy their legacy. Whatever happened, happened, man.” Montana also noted that Kelly “went to court of law and won,” an apparent reference to his 2008 acquittal on 21 counts of child pornography. Update – 5:45 p.m. ET: Montana has issued a statement in an attempt to clean up his problematic comments about Kelly. He said, “Let me clear. My heart is with the victims. I never thought the people I looked up to as a kid, who sang and danced and gave me hope to become a superstar would become drug addicts, child molesters and rapists. I am hoping we as a culture create better leaders. We need them.” What Montana failed to mention is that Kelly is facing renewed scrutiny and legal questions following the premiere of Surviving R Kelly. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Georgia has reportedly opened an investigation in response to the stories of assault, imprisonment, and other misconduct detailed in Surviving R. Kelly, while prosecutors in Chicago have asked Kelly’s alleged victims to come forward. He’s already been visited by Chicago police not once, but twice this week. Source

At a show last night, a friend leaned over to me and mentioned, “You know, I feel like dubstep is getting way more punchy in 2019.” Now, punchy isn’t a technical term by any stretch of the imagination, but you still immediately know what it’s referring to. That heavy, relentless pounding bass and synth stab in a drop… you know what I’m talking about, don’t pretend you don’t. Listening to the new Misfits EP from KJ Sawka and Hi I’m Ghost, out now on Kannibalen, that conversation came to mind. One of my favorite things about any KJ Sawka production are the clean drums, augmented by his decades playing drums for the likes of Pendulum, Destroid, and more. In that same vein, Hi I’m Ghost have proven time and again that they’re nothing to f*ck with. This relatively new pair of producers are absolute beasts in the studio, so it’s no surprise that tracks like “Misfits” and “WAT” are as bombastic as they turned out to be. These aren’t early-hours dubstep tracks either; these are peak hours, sweaty faces and aching feet dubstep tunes that are sure to revive even the most weary headbanger and get them right back on that rail. After more than a year of seeking out the elusive Gammer flip of Ran-D’s cover of The Cranberries’ “Zombie” (that was a mouthful), the edit finally sees an official release. Alongside a remix from Bassjackers, Gammer’s “Zombie” flip is now publicly available to the masses and we just can’t get enough. Apart from Gammer himself playing it out, the flip was widely popularized by one of his good friends, Kayzo. Additionally, The Chainsmokers played it out with help from drummer Matt McGuire at Ultra 2018 for a particularly stunning display of theatricality, physicality, and lights. Ran-D’s “Zombie” is a cover of the classic song of the same name from The Cranberries, released in 1993. The lyrics are known the world over, brought to life by lead singer Dolores O’Riordan’s uniquely Irish-tinged voice. Ran-D officially released his cover in June 2018. Listen to the Gammer flip below. If there’s one thing we can count on Party Favor for — it’s a twerk-worthy beat. The producer turns back time with his latest single “2012” and it’s a hell of a tune. Trap is alive and well and Party Favor is one of the core artists that embraces it to the utmost degree. Bringing a new school vibe to the classic sound is what his latest,”2012,” aims for — and he delivers like a pro. Expert rhythm, spotless sound design and unexpected switch ups make the new production simply irresistible. But, the bounce is really where it’s at. Our 2012 selves would have gone absolutely crazy for the trap madness that ensues with this track. Honestly, even in 2019, we’re just as about it. Enjoy! You want it all but you can’t have it! Rock fans were excited when news broke yesterday that Faith No More singer Mike Patton would be performing the national anthem at the NFL playoff game between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams on Saturday evening at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. However, just a few hours before kickoff, Patton broke the news that he would not be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the football game, after all. The vocalist, who also fronts the bands Dead Cross and Fantômas, posted the following message on his Facebook account: “Sorry football folks, I woke up feeling horrible. No anthem today for me!” We reached out to Patton’s publicist, who confirmed the cancellation. The news was also divulged on Twitter by Associated Press reporter Greg Beacham, who tweeted that a violinist filled in for Patton: So Mike Patton of Faith No More was supposed to sing the national anthem, but he canceled earlier today because he didn't feel good, and a violin player filled in and sounded fine, but we're pretty sure he skipped part of the song. Anyway, Cowboys won the coin toss. — Greg Beacham (@gregbeacham) January 13, 2019 Definitely a bummer for fans who were eager to see what the man with the six-octave range was going to do with the national anthem, but we hope Patton feels better in time for Wednesday’s Chris Cornell tribute concert, for which he was just added to the performance lineup. Lil Uzi Vert has made some serious waves over the past few years, forever making his mark on hip hop. But, he’s completely over it. The “XO Tour Llif3” rapper is calling it quits from music for good — and we heard it straight from the source. While most artists are gearing up for a huge 2019, he’s setting his priorities on being “normal.” “I deleted everything,” he shared in a final social update. “I wanna be normal … I wanna wake up in 2013. You are free.” The talent that brought us one of the most famous lines of recent years — push me to the edge, all my friends are dead — has apparently found fame to be less than desirable. We hope he can find peace following this undoubtedly difficult and complicated life choice. There aren’t enough artists who put mental health first. We’ll miss your art, Lil Uzi Vert. Thanks for the memories. Lil Uzi Vert – XO Tour Llif3 H/T: Complex This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Lil Uzi Vert Just Quit Music & This Actually Sucks Source

Facebook’s story isn’t over. That’s not lost on screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, who’s considering a follow-up to his Oscar-winning screenplay for David Fincher’s 2010 masterpiece, The Social Network. “First of all, I know a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I do in 2018,” Sorkin tells AP Entertainment, “but I know enough to know that there should be a sequel. A lot of very interesting, dramatic stuff has happened since the movie ends with settling the lawsuit from the Winklevoss Twins and Eduardo Saverin.” He’s not wrong. In recent years, Mark Zuckerbro has suffered a number of scandals, from the Russian hacking during the 2016 election to the recent controversial “pivot-to-video” nonsense, which has since led to the loss of hundreds of jobs. The demand for a sequel is there, too, as Sorkin says the original film’s producer Scott Rudin has been hounding him for one. “I’ve gotten more than one email from him with an article attached saying, ‘Isn’t it time for a sequel?'” he admits. Rudin’s not wrong either, seeing how the original film was a blockbuster smash and won three of its eight Oscar nominations, including Best Adapted Screenplay for Sorkin, Best Original Score for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and Best Film Editing for Angus Wall and Krik Baxter. Sorkin recently unveiled his Broadway adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird and waiting to get the green light again on The Trial of the Chicago 7, which was shut down for budgetary reasons. He’s also been teasing the possibility of a West Wing revival. So, consider this a distant possibility. Source

Kanye West is absent from this year’s Coachella lineup due to a disagreement over his stage design. According to a new report form Billboard, the issue stemmed from Kanye’s desire to perform inside a giant, custom-built dome situated in the middle of the festival grounds. The John McGuire-designed dome would have been big enough to hold a large portion of the 125,000 festival attendees. The plans called for Kanye to perform in the center of the dome in an in-the-round format, complemented by high-tech production and immersive video, Coachella organizers told Kanye such a dome would be impossible to build in four months and would require the rearrangement of the entire festival site, including the removal a large section of portable bathrooms, Billboard reports. Kanye reportedly became agitated when organizers mentioned their logistical concerns over the placement of bathrooms, saying he was an artist with a creative vision who shouldn’t be spending his time talking about port-a-potties, Billboard adds. At one point, he hung up during a phone call with festival organizers. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Coachella founder Paul Tollett addressed Kanye’s cancelation. “He has some great [production] ideas, but we just weren’t able to pull them off right now,” Tollett said. “I’d like to circle back with him and figure out a future plan of what to do with what’s in his head. He’s very capable of coming up with ideas that work that are pretty great. Up until Jan. 1, we were making a poster with Kanye on it. We started realizing we’re probably going to have an impasse production-wise.” Billboard also reports that Kanye was slated to headline Governors Ball, but was dropped over similar disagreements with stage design. On Friday, R Kelly received another visit from police — this time at Trump Tower Chicago, where the R&B singer has been hiding out, according to TMZ. Following the airing of the Lifetime documentary Surviving R Kelly, prosecutors in Cook County, IL encouraged Kelly’s alleged victims to “please come forward” in order to initiate an investigation. According to the Chicago Tribune, one tip they received said two women were being held against their will at Kelly’s Trump Tower residence. Officers visited Trump Tower on Friday and spoke with the two women identified as Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary. The women said they were not being held hostage and the officers left without making any arrests. The parents of both Savage and Clary appeared in Surviving R Kelly and believe their daughters may have been brainwashed by Kelly. This was the second time in as many days that Kelly was visited by police. Early Thursday morning, officers crashed Kelly’s birthday party after receiving a tip that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. However, after speaking with Kelly, officers determined the information to be inaccurate and let him walk free without incident. For his part, Kelly maintains his innocence and contends the docu-series is a “vendetta” against him by individuals who “hated him throughout his professional career.” He previously threatened to “sue everybody” involved and also launched a website and Facebook page with the aim of discrediting his numerous accusers. In a new interview with The Associated Press, Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg denied all allegations of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls. “The allegations aren’t true because he never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone,” said Greenberg. He also said that in the past women have “come on to” Kelly in the hopes that he would assist them in furthering their own careers, then became “disgruntled” when their own careers stalled and issued false allegations.
