That's cool man. You're doing the right thing there especially with the track experience. Get use to the car and hone the skills on track and then chase the time and power. That's what I did. I got on track and learnt how to drive the car and then did small upgrades so I got better and better. It's so good your missus is into it! I was dating a girl that was into cars but it didn't work out in the end
It's also good that the cops don't turn around. I'm worried that mine will attract some attention but so far the cops haven't done a lot.
Yeah the 207's are probably the best motor in the range. Some guys go the 257's but they're not as good. The 2L is definitely a better engine.
So here's a question... how do you go about juggling the car and music? Haha does your missus have a few words to say about it?

Aww no way, defs stay clear of the tuner. I don't know too much about the Subaru engines, but my lil bro has the 2012 model STI with bigger turbo, injectors e85 tune and coil overs, had a full tomei titanium exhaust which was just a cop magnet lol. And his mate is a mechanic who said the 207 engine was bullet proof.
For ours it has a few mods but nothing major. Exhaust, intake, aftermarket inter cooler, bilstein suspension, Yokohama ae08 semi slicks, turbo smart, slotted rotors and project mu pads. Do want to get a bigger turbo and possibly injectors, and it's running fairly low 200hp tune at 22 psi, pulls like a train up the rev range and holds from 24 to 22. For me that's fine for now. It's got a total of 64,000 kms on it and is the weekend toy. We have it tuned by guys who run an evo in time attack, we could put more into it but for now it's just a nice safe fun car, and even cops see it, have a good look but don't hassle us which is really the goal. Plus the missus drives it so want to upgrade slowly as skill develops.
we have tracked it a few times, and that's where we decided to leave it so she could get more confident and used to boost coming on, plus my times around Wakefield v hers, thought it was best to slowly upgrade as time goes by. But full jap spec, the papers for it are in Japanese and trying to leave it unmolested as much as possible.  But your right, both cars are just super fun

Hahaha what?! That's crazy! Nah I haven't got an sti. It's a standard wrx but the bottom end let go while it was at the tuner (safe to say I've not gone back). I've spent 10 months working on the car and the recent part of 7 of those was on this new bottom end. Most people would've gone with the 207 but I decided to build the 205. It's a bit of an odd one but I got a mate who's built forged 205's before and he reckons no dramas at all so I thought I'd be a bit different and go for that option - plus, I was using the heads off my old motor so didn't wanna try source 207 heads. It was a lot of work but it now puts out 280hp at the wheels at 19psi. It's easily got 300 in it but we were a bit worried about the head studs the guy put in. He put nitrated head studs from a late model sti. The car goes good at this point so I'll leave it here for now... easier said than done  I got it back 2 weeks ago and I'm still running it in. It sucks
Haha nemesis but the AWD fam sticks together  I do love me an evo 8. Any work done?

Yeah that's a really good way to look at it. I've felt like bailing out so many times haha but I wanna do this so I'm getting over that hurdle. I use to be a sign writer and recently I decided to quit my job and go into a more specialised field and work with vinyl applications so things like wrapping cars, wall graphics and so on. It means I still know the industry well and i don't have to swing from boom lifts anymore and i can be my own boss!  thats the part i like the most haha

It's never the same when things go wrong and there's this weird tension that follows. It has been hard to rise above it but there's some moments that make things a little easier. It's best for me just stepping away from it. I was teaching through a school and I've got a lesson booked in for Wednesday afternoon - I just don't have the mentality to do it anymore. They can be rewarding when you see your students progress but you usually see the same people come in, the ones that wanna headline ultra straight away. It just doesn't happen lol you gotta have passion for what you do and once it's gone there's no point going with it.
Thanks man I appreciate that! It's daunting but it's gonna go well

    Hey man,
Yeah I hear what your saying, when I was in Canberra it was a very clicky group, and although I knew these guys well, and had the gear and skill, because I didnt play the type of tracks they wanted or where known for, thats caused a few issues. We did one night out under the skies on the main lake here, I provided the gear and about 4-5 hours in, after constantly saying not to go above 8 on the amp (8/10) it was well over 8 and blew the speakers. So that was the last straw for me and walked away from them and all of it.  All of this because they wanted to be the 'rock star' and pretend!
They ended up getting residency at one of the hip boutique bars in town, and as much as we would have a Sunday Jam Session, it just was never really the same. No one offered any moeny or support for what happened and it just kinda went unsaid, but jeez there was tension there a few times.
Lol yeah its pretty savage these promoters now adays, and after going through all of that, its still awesome and amazing that your still a cool person and have risen above all that BS and still willing to help and show people, esp after the tall poppy issue.
Wow, thats great your starting your own business and I wish you the best. I know for all the hard work and effort you will put in, it will definatley be worth it and you will be able to collect the rewards of your hard work.
Not trying to blow smoke up your ass but keep it up mate, let the haters hate and the creatives create

Thanks mate  I'm going to be 27 so I'm seeing that I don't wanna waste my time with such an immature scene anymore. Before I totally lose the passion for it i've just decided to move on.
I've had some success which i can be proud of but i've had a lot of bullshit along the way. Jealousy was the biggest part of it and I'm not overly bothered by it but it was affecting my position in my local scene. The more work I got outside of my local scene the better it got and some people saw beyond the talk but it's just a shit industry with a lot of "rock stars". Can go into greater detail but it's hardly worth the effort haha I've started a business so I'm looking forward to picking that up, and I've gotten to finish my project car so It's been good
I think the biggest thing I could try and teach someone is to try not let the politics of this industry get the better of you. In my experience, once it does, it's very hard to let it go. It's good to be aware of it because you will get rolled if they get a chance but knowing how it spins will help deal with it in a better way. These young kids that are breaking in aren't getting paid and once they realise they should be the promoters will ditch them for the next 18 year old who will do anything to play in a venue. I didn't wanna get caught up in that especially when I know what I'm worth.
I started a promotion near 3 years ago now and it was up there with one of the biggest nights on a Saturday. It only took me about 8 months to get it up there too because i knew what this city needed. In the small amount of time I was pushing the boundaries here I do feel that the diversity of music that's now being played here had to do with my promotions, but because I showed up a lot of people I got shut down. It sucks being so big but so small, if that makes sense?
But like I said, I've moved passed that now and it's about building my business and moving forward with my life

Hey mate it's a pleasure  I'm here to help where I can! I appreciate the kind words. The industry hasn't been too kind with me in the last few years so it's always good to see someone genuinely keen to give it a go
