Cupe Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Aphex Twin contemporaries Seefeel get debut LP reissued for 20th anniversaryJoining the dots between contemporaries Aphex Twin, My Bloody Valentine and Cocteau Twins, Seefeel’s 1993 debut Quique was born out of respect for those artists that pushed the boundaries of music and sound. Originally released on UK label Too Pure, guitarist Mark Clifford described the London quartet as “wanting to do something definitive, because this is what I began to respect in others — a sense of striking out, of urgency”.“A dreamy confluence of dub, abstract electronic music and minimalist composition techniques”, the unique Quique is now set to be reissued by Modern Classics Records and Medical Records. Recorded in an attic studio in Camden, Quique set Seefeel apart from the scene, before their move to Warp Records for their 1995 follow-up Succour. Its effect on listeners was also singular, with Clifford once saying that aside from helping in the treatment of children with autism, “I’ve had letters from people who’ve given birth to Quique.” Quote
