Deadmau5 and Trent Reznor have shared conflicting reports about a possible collaboration in recent interviews with triple j.

Speaking with Lewi McKirdy this morning on triple j breakfast, Deadmau5 openly discussed his upcoming sixth album, which he said is slated to include a collaboration with the Nine Inch Nails frontman and his wife Mariqueen Maandig:

"It's a two disc album, which is pretty cool, because if you don't like the one disc, there's always the other," he said. "Trent Reznor and his lovely wife are on it. I'm one of those guys that if I'm gonna work with another artist, I like to leave things alone. I wouldn't want to make a song like it would sound like it would go on their album, but also wouldn't sound like it belongs on mine."

Meanwhile, Reznor flatly denied all hints of a get-together when quizzed by The Doctor yesterday on triple j Drive. A noted open-book, Reznor was both detailed and eloquent in the way he squashed any and all collaborative rumours:

"Nope," he said.

It's apparent at this time that not even the artists know whether they've gotten together in the studio to record some new music, or even if they have plans to do this in the future.
