Cupe Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Another year of DJ Mag’s Top 100 has come and gone, and every time all it seems to do is get the dance community all kinds of hot and bothered, and not in a good way. Everyone from Dillon Francis to Eric Prydz had something to say about the results, with most of the commentary pertaining to the list being a joke. But there were still a few who took the time to congratulate Mr. Martin Garrix on a well earned #1 title. You deserve it bro ! #Top100DJs pic.twitter.com/Sp9usC4rWk — Armin van Buuren (@arminvanbuuren) October 20, 2016 Congratz to my bro @martingarrix! #1 #djmag FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS KIDS pic.twitter.com/bTVKzwfizo — Afrojack (@afrojack) October 20, 2016 No one is upset at Martin Garrix for winning the top spot and claiming the title of youngest #1 DJ ever; most of the hate is directed towards how much emphasis is placed on these relatively meaningless rankings. 3LAU made a great statement yesterday about the ranking’s relevance to booking fees, and how the list doesn’t directly affect how fans enjoy an artist’s music. And as such, here are the less satisfied reactions: .@djmag when will you finally exclude me from this? So moronic. — dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) October 20, 2016 i'd like to take the time to thank all my fans and friends for typing my name in a box and hitting enter. means the world to me. thank you. — dead mow cinco (@deadmau5) October 20, 2016 I think @DJmag is the best comedy book i ever read thank you for the laugh i really needed that — Cedric Gervais (@CedricGervais) October 20, 2016 I can't tell what's more of a joke – The Presidential Election, or The DJ Mag Top 100 — LUCA LUSH (@LUCALUSH) October 19, 2016 It happens every year @djmag pic.twitter.com/faWDF98gFg — Dillon Francis (@DILLONFRANCIS) October 19, 2016 Lol. — Eric Prydz (@ericprydz) October 19, 2016 It costs zero dollars to keep it real. — justin (@3LAU) October 20, 2016 real artists dont care about a spot in the dj mag, they care about pushing music boundaries, about being influential, about inspiring people — Boombox Cartel (@BoomboxCartel) October 19, 2016 Doctor: Have you been throwing up?Me: Yes. Doctor: For how long?Me: Since I read the DJ Mag Top 100.
