Cupe Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Bestival and Camp Bestival, two of Britain’s most renowned music festivals, are at risk of getting the axe — and ticket-holders fear they could soon be out of money spent on the events. High Court admin notices have reportedly been filed against the company, as initiated by British businessman and billionaire James Benamor. He single-handedly loaned Bestival £1.6 million last year, a figure which suggests one or both festivals are in serious financial trouble. Benamor has since taken control of at least some of Bestival’s assets. As of now, Camp Bestival still has plans to continue, though tickets are no longer available for purchase. Organizers released a statement saying next year’s tickets will remain valid. Furthermore, they said they have “no reason to believe Camp Bestival won’t go on as planned.” The event is already deep into the planning stages for 2019. The 2018 installment of Bestival saw tons of amazing acts, including M.I.A., Silk City (Diplo & Mark Ronson), Mura Masa, Camelphat, and many more. Since its establishment in 2004, the annual event has made quite an impact on the UK festival circuit, even winning “Best Major Festival” in 2015. The fate of Bestival has yet to be revealed. All music fans can do is hope for the best. Source: Metro.co.uk | Photo via Caitlin Mogridge This article was first published on Your EDM.
