This year marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ self-titled ninth LP, a.k.a. The White Album. To commemorate this milestone, the band’s surviving members will release a deluxe reissue of the album on November 9th through their own Apple Corps Ltd. and Capitol/UMe. For the reissue, the album’s 30 tracks have been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround sound, sourced directly from the original four-track and eight-track session tapes. This new mix is complemented by 27 early acoustic demos and 50 session takes, most of which are previously unreleased in any form. The music is spread out across seven discs, housed in a slipsleeved 164-page hardbound book and featuring pull-out reproductions of the original album’s four glossy color portrait photographs of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, as well new introductions written by McCartney and Martin, rarely seen photographs, track-by-track notations, and more. In addition to the seven-disc super deluxe box set, the reissue will also be released as a three-CD deluxe set; a four-LP deluxe vinyl set; a two-LP standard vinyl set; and digitally. Pre-orders are now ongoing. Below, watch a teaser trailer for the reissue, plus scroll through its complete tracklist. Satellite radio giant SiriusXM is purchasing Internet radio giant Pandora for $3.5 billion, the companies announced Monday. The acquisition creates the “largest audio entertainment company,” according to a press release, as Pandora’s 70 million mostly active users join SiriusXM’s 36 million paid subscribers. Pandora’s “powerful music platform will enable SiriusXM to significantly expand its presence beyond vehicles into the home and other mobile areas,” a press release adds. Both companies will continue to exist following the deal’s completion in the first quarter of 2019, and there will be no immediate changes in the services offered to their respective subscriber bases. Pandora launched in 2000 as automated music discovery platform, creating user-specific playlists based on positive and negative feedback to individual songs. In late 2016, Pandora launched a premium service allowing users to listen to songs and create specific playlists on demand. Source

It’s no secret that music industry has been up in arms since NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian vowed to make sure popular harder styles event Defqon would never happen in NSW again. Well now MusicNSW has penned an open letter condemning any ‘expert’ panel that Berejiklian looks to make, essentially saying that without music industry professionals it won’t amount to anything of worth. The letter itself was signed off by 60 industry names (check them out below) and goes on to say that: “We [the music industry professionals] are the voice of music in NSW. Please do not shut us out of this important part of the discussion. Together we can develop safe, legal, and practical means for ensuring festivals are safer, enjoyable places for all people.” The letter gives stats and makes points in regards to employment, tourism and small business while discussing why industry professionals need to be part of the conversation. You can check the full letter here, and an article by SMH about it here. Have a read and tell us what you think, is this the message that needs to be sent? Old mate Skrillex is down under right now for Listen Out and would you look at that, it looks like he’s been working on a remix of Travis Scott’s Sicko Mode. He uploaded a video to his Instagram story yesterday with an old school video style filter effect, an incorrect spelling of Melbourne and him jamming along to Sicko Mode on his lappy. The 15 second video doesn’t give away too much, but the tune sounds like it’s shaping up to be an absolute banger. Check out the video below, get what you can from it and tell us what you think, are you keen to hear this huge remix? Source

Following the recent release of their new album, The Growlers rocked it hard in Beantown. Wednesday, September 19th, the Royale presented Dana Point, CA native band The Growlers for their “Beach Goth” tour. The show opened with the alternative/punk sound of Surfbort followed by the group running onstage with black and white jumpsuits. As per the release of their new album Casual Acquaintances in July of this year. The surf rock band played their crowd favorites like “Night Ride” and “City Club” from their previous albums as well as tunes on the new album. It was no debate that no matter how well the crowd knew the songs, everyone was groovin’ and movin’. So much so that a fan crowd surfed despite his broken leg and crutches, only to be pulled onto the stage by lead singer Brooks Nielsen. Despite the rampant need for security to take crazed fans off the stage, the band rocked like it was their last show. Fans like Ashley Abbuhl, a BU student, shared how engaging their experience was. When describing the overall atmosphere of the concert, Abbuhl said the crowd was ” filled with people who were absorbed by the music”. She even felt like the show itself was “mesmerizing” at times because of the band’s fluid presence. Nielsen’s smooth dancing and interactions with the crowd made for such a chill yet upbeat vibe. The Growlers new album Casual Acquaintances is available on Spotify and iTunes for streaming. In comparison with previous tracks, this album maintains their synth but with almost a dark twist in each tune. Singles like “Orgasm of Death” and “Decoy Face” certainly emulate coolness unlimited. Overall, the show was just pure, good feelings all around. An amazing live performance in the beautiful Royale theater can turn anyone into a Growlers fan. SALES, the dynamic duo, brought the house down at The Sinclair last Thursday, September 20, 2018. Photo Courtesy of Post-TrashThe Florida natives, Lauren Morgan and Jordan Shih appeared at The Sinclair in Cambridge last night. On this groovy side of town, the dynamic duos’ personalities were as in synced as their music. When stripped down, the beats and guitar chords are simplistic. Though, with Lauren’s unique voice and Jordan’s jazzy guitar rifts, she brings an electric and eclectic edge that strays far away from the ordinary. When first entering The Sinclair, there was a strong presence of intimacy. Although this was a concert, a connection was tied to the crowd and the band. But, before SALES could hit the stage, Hana Vu, a young artist based in LA, invigorated the crowd with her mellow voice and groovy guitar rifts. Hana Vu brought solidity to her performance. With this collaboration of sound, she brings depth to her music and enhances the overall mood, lifting people up off their feet and entrancing the crowd with her buttery smooth transitions. Photo Courtesy of Caroline CahillAs she glided across the stage and jived with her band in synchronized dance moves, she did so with ease. At just 17 years old, she composed herself with calmness and poise. While Hana Vu glided through her setlist, she didn’t stop wowing the audience. Leaving the crowd wanting more, she is unprecedented: one to be watched and one to be praised for her ingenuity. Here is Hana Vu’s Spotify down below: spotify:artist:3diDUq8QMCCtx8a4Jy42aO When Hana Vu left the stage, she gave the crowd what they desired most, fresh tunes to bop along to as we waited for SALES. With the first act underwent, anticipation flooded in the venue. Though, soon enough, SALES came and did not disappoint. Photo Courtesy of Caroline CahillKicking off the setlist, SALES gave an endless flow of chill indie-pop tunes layered by the sound of the guitar and beat of the drums. SALES strummed along in unison to their many hits. With songs spanning from all their projects like “Pope is a Rockstar”, “You Look Well”, “Chinese New Year”, “Getting It On”, “Sorry Bro”, and many more, SALES gives an appeal to all moods. Each word hangs on to your heartstrings and toils with your emotions, making their music a warm welcome for anyone. Here is their Spotify down below: spotify:artist:6vVztIuqdDHvYWxOEXCzjN While their performance was underway, SALES presented themselves with immense gratitude to their happy fans. No gloominess lurked in the crowd, but rather love. Instead, their quirky personalities and playful banter between the crowd and themselves made a person feel like you were on the stage with them. Expressing authenticity through themselves and their music, SALES is a duo that will remind you of what music should be. Both Morgan and Shih are a creative powerhouse who will continue to shock the music industry through their clever lyrics and genius beats. Aussie house icon Mall Grab has just launched his very own label Looking For Trouble and kicked it off with an EP of his own, How The Dogs Chill, Vol.1. It’s a sweet mix of the heavy lo-fi jams we know and love Mall Grab for but on top of that we’ve got some more techno beats as you’ll see in Looking For Trouble and even a track with a bit of a jungle feel to it. It seems like he’s got a point to prove, saying that infectious lo-fi house tuna isn’t the only dish he’s serving up, trying to push into a bit more diverse stuff, incorporating breaks and some more stripped back feels as well. We’re always keen to jump on some Mall Grab love and this time is no different, so check out his latest EP below and tell us what you think, is it his best yet or do you prefer ‘party house’ Mall Grab? The other week we caught wind that the final instalment of Fabriclive would be done by none other than Hyperdub boss Kode9 and the enigmatic producer Burial. Well Christmas has come a little early as they’ve gone ahead and done an exclusive mix for Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio. The experimental mix transcends genres and is chock full of heavy electronic love. In a way that only they know how, the two have put together a mix filled with diverse electronic goodies. This isn’t one of those ‘eclectic mixes’ that throws in a disco track here or there, it’s a cosmic journey that moves through jungle, acid, electronic pop and so much more. Check it out here and tell us what you think, does this get you hyped for their Fabriclive 100 mix due out September 28? Source

“All I’m saying is that if I ever start referring to these as the best years of my life, remind me to kill myself.” Consider this for a moment: it’s been longer from the release of Dazed and Confused to now than it was between the film’s release 25 years ago this week and the time in which it was set. To audiences of the ’90s and onward, Dazed and Confused is more than just one of the great teen comedies, although it absolutely is. It’s also arguably as influential as any piece of art in influencing the way modern audiences who weren’t around for the 1970s remember them. It’s a piece of the pop cultural lexicon that’s achieved an influence greater than itself, all while defining the “hangout comedy” while also being one of of the most easygoing examples of the form. But to wax poetic for too long is to look past what’s made Dazed and Confused so endearing over time, more than anything: the slice-of-life, everyday commonality of its tone, story, and filmmaking. The follow-up to Richard Linklater‘s auspicious 1991 debut Slacker, Dazed and Confused took that film’s sprawling Austin eccentricity and rewound the clocks back to the mid-’70s, before technology became omnipresent and Jimmy Carter validated America’s anxieties regarding the nation’s uncertain future. Linklater’s film occasionally opens the door to the outside world, but it’s only in peripheral ways, the ones that matter in high school. Alpha male cruelty. Sexual desperation and anxiety. Worries about the unknowable future that’ll inevitably swallow the beautiful present. It’s also about the funny, horny, embarrassing, memorable stuff that happens in between all of that, but it’s there, and creeping in a little more each day. But first, it’s 1976. Before the various miscreants of Dazed and Confused go off to cruise the streets, bash in mailboxes, and not forget that you’re celebrating a bunch of slave-owning, aristocratic white males not wanting to pay their taxes on the 4th, it’s the last day of school. Linklater’s film breathlessly dives in from this moment on, never stopping for hoary plot contrivances or adult interference (they barely exist in this Austin) on the roads to nowhere in particular, with the right tunes and the right buds. In addition to Foghat‘s “Slow Ride” becoming the U.S. national anthem of laying back and smoking a joint thanks to Wiley Wiggins‘ final moment onscreen, a passing listen to modern-day classic rock radio will cement just how many of the films have been entrenched in the national consciousness thanks to Linklater. Alice Cooper, Bob Dylan, Aerosmith, Peter Frampton, Steve Miller, and a pile of other bands managed to bridge the first major generational gap through Linklater making them universal, and timeless. That timelessness carries over to the film at large. It’s no accident that some of the film’s best-remembered exchanges are delivered while cruising around town in search of something to do, or loitering outside various nightlife spots and liquor stores and high schools. Dazed and Confused, in its rambling way, captures one of the things that all people actually miss most about youth: the ability to be completely aimless, at least here and there, without any kind of consequence. There’s an air of immortality that goes hand in hand with youth, a notion that sitting in the back of your friend’s car and blasting some tunes and fucking around is as grand and important as life will ever get. It’s untrue in most ways, and it’s unwise to get stuck in that place as time passes on, but you always yearn for it even when you know it’s unattainable. Like so much of Linklater’s best work, the film is profound through its being deliberately unassuming. It’s sincere without being dopey, honest without being mean, optimistic without being oblivious of how hard the future can be. Life can’t stay this way forever, but it’ll never be this easy again. Crucially, the movie also remembers that life isn’t as easy from time to time, whether it’s in Pink (Jason London) discovering that people having expectations and demands of him won’t end with high school, or in guys like O’Bannion (Ben Affleck) who’ve peaked early and won’t be lucid enough to realize it for far too many years. Linklater’s screenplay clearly knows who the heroes and villains are, but it doesn’t necessarily condemn any of them. Every character in a great Linklater movie has a subtle inner life, and Dazed and Confused separates itself from so many cliched high school tales of social castes colliding by teasing out those lives in tiny instances. Talking to people who love Dazed and Confused is like watching them work through a Rorschach test. It offers such a wide swath of personalities that every audience member connects with their own facets of it, from the uncertain Mitch (Wiggins) to Wooderson (Matthew McConaughey), a charmer who’s slowly growing into a Texas burnout more and more conspicuously by the hour. Yet it also renders its tiny ecosystem with such earnest affection that you can’t help but be seduced by all of it, even the gross parts or the unpleasant ones. Everybody has their own favorite part, because everybody can find at least a piece of themselves in someone, somewhere in Dazed and Confused. After all, it’s the experience of the American teenager in microcosm. We all just had to, or have to, keep livin’. L-I-V-I-N. Source

Kanye’s newest release has a lot more depth than it’s given credit for. Kanye West’s new song with hip-hop newcomer Lil Pump is, at first listen, less than impressive. It’s minimal beat and misogynistic lyrics make it easily forgettable in the over-saturated hip-hop pop culture we live in today. The song also may seem like just another tally on Kanye’s scoreboard of a downward spiral, as many would argue this past year has been highlighted by his release of countless lazily produced EPs and joke songs (not to mention, his prideful allegiance to Trump’s brand this summer). But Kanye isn’t an idiot, he knows exactly what he’s doing, but his point might be easily missed. “I Love It” is not as low-brow as one would assume, it is actually a highly crafted self-critique on both Kanye’s current brand and the rap industry as a whole, and, quite simply, I love it. The track begins with a sample from comedian Adele Givens’ stand up routine where she explicitly says “’cause you know in the old days they couldn’t say the s**t they wanted to say, they had the fake orgasms and s**t, we can tell n**gas today: ‘hey, I wanna c*m, mothaf**ka.’” Lil Pump immediately begins with the main verse of the song “you’re such a f**king h*e, I love it.” Kanye is accomplishing two different things here: first, he is beginning his song with a voice of liberated female sexuality which is immediately juxtaposed by Lil Pump’s verse which represents the voice of ignorance and misogyny. Then, by including Lil Pump, an artist often regarded as mindless and moronic, Kanye is appropriating that shallow and insensible aspect of rap music for his own benefit so that it can reflect back as a self-awareness and possibly a mockery or criticism of the industry. Photo courtesy of BillboardBut Kanye doesn’t stop there. While Lil Pump is responsible for the chorus, Kanye has his own memorable lyrics. He proclaims proudly on the track “I’m a sick f*ck, I like a quick f*ck,” which can be interpreted as Kanye embracing that female sexuality addressed at the beginning by saying that the men who sleep around aren’t very admirable either. He is also very explicitly making fun of himself. In the visuals for this song, Kanye wears his fashion brand’s newest shoes, the Yeezy Slides, except the shoes are unnecessarily oversized and his clothes are large and cartoonish to match. This is a joke on a Twitter moment that went viral a few weeks prior where Kanye was bashed for wearing his new shoes a few sizes too small, so he exaggerated it to poke fun at his internet viral status. Essentially, Kanye is one of the most self-aware artists in the industry today. His song “I Love It” is a catchy critique on the industry and he uses to it appropriate hip-hop’s ignorance and liberate women’s sexuality. If that’s not to be considered truly artistic and worthy of praise, then I resign. The post The Other Side to Kanye West and Lil Pump’s New Single “I Love It” appeared first on Verge Campus. Source

On Saturday night, The Boxer hung up his gloves for the final time, and he did so a the place where it all began. Paul Simon wrapped up his “Homeward Bound” farewell tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Flushing, New York — minutes from where he grow up. “I’ve often wondered what it would feel like to reach the point where I’d consider bringing my performing career to a natural end,” Simon said of the farewell tour. “Now I know: it feels a little unsettling, a touch exhilarating and something of a relief. I love making music, my voice is still strong, and my band is a tight, extraordinary group of gifted musicians. I think about music constantly. I am very grateful for a fulfilling career and, of course, most of all to the audiences who heard something in my music that touched their hearts.” Explaining his decision to play his final concert at Flushing Meadows Park, Simon added, “It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes, when I was a kid. But this is less a goodbye than a farewell. Thank you all for the ride, I had a great time.” The setlist for Simon’s final concert spanned 26 songs, including two separate encores. The show began with Simon & Garfunkel’s “America” and was followed up with other seminal tracks including “The Boy in the Bubble”, “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard”, and “Bridge Over Troubled Water” with yMusic. The evening closed with performances of “Graceland”, “The Boxer”, and “The Sound of Silence”. Watch fan-shot footage and see the full setlist below. Those looking to bring that Winter glum into Spring next year can light up a cigarette and keep brooding: A new book that collects the entire oral history of Joy Division is heading to bookstores in time for the Easter bunny. Written by Jon Savage, This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History features three decades worth of interviews from key voices in the Manchester tribe, from bandmates Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, and Stephen Morris to the late Ian Curtis’ widow Deborah Curtis to legendary artist Peter Saville. This should be a delectable read given that Savage is responsible for the also ambitiously titled, England’s Dreaming: Sex Pistols and Punk Rock, Teenage: The Creation of Youth, 1875 – 1945 and 1966: The Year the Decade Exploded. What a mouthful! Though, if you’re feeling up to it, might we suggest a preamble with Hook’s own book, 2014’s The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club, which should serve as textual Xanax for anyone with major financial squabbles of their own. If not, Savage’s book is out March 7th in the UK and April 23rd in the US via Faber & Faber. Take a look at the glossy cover below: This Searing Light, the Sun and Everything Else: Joy Division – The Oral History Source

The 23rd run of North America’s longest running festival, Nocturnal Wonderland 2018, has come and gone leaving those of us that attended in a euphoric state of mind after experiencing the immersive gathering. Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 brought over 65,000 attendees to a transformed Glen Helen Regional Park. We danced around a black-lit playground featuring all you need to get lost in: the music coming from four elaborate stages, whimsical costumed creatures, tons of glowing art installations including a 3D UV experience, live art, and a full experience in camping alone, paired with performances from over 60 artists. Wolves’ Den stood 60-feet tall and 141-feet wide, featuring 81 pieces of pyro and 8 lasers, fans gathered here for the amplifying sounds of Boombox Cartel, Jai Wolf, Deorro, Slushii, Illenium, and more. A 48-foot tall and 84-foot wide Labyrinth stage included eight flame heads, six lasers, and showered us with 36 pounds of confetti over the weekend while we got down to the sounds of Bassrush and NGHTMRE & SLANDER’s Gud Vibrations crew. We raged to solid sets from Liquid Stranger, Space Jesus, Kill the Noise, Flux Pavilion, Said the Sky, and of course, NGHTMRE & SLANDER. Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 The return of Drift’s lighthouse was the highlight of our weekend, perfectly nestled atop the highest point of Glen Helen Regional Park, it catered to the hippie in all of us; the black-lit stage included hammocks, succulent gardens and interactive art pieces while the aerobeacon, once again, shined far across the festival grounds. We can’t imagine a better stage for those Sunken Garden vibes, we were so happy to see it return to host the sounds of Nora En Pure, Lee Foss, Mikey Lion & Lee Reynolds, MK, and more. Listen to Mikey Lion live at EF 2018: Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 Insomniac’s Boombox Art Car made its way booming through the crowds in camp and inside the festival acting as the stage for the camp pre-party on Thursday, we were later able to find it tucked in a neon mushroom patch just across from the 3D Nocturnal Wonderland Experience. Performances from Fester, Oscar da Grouch, Simfonik, and more had the crowd noodling hard for the remainder of the weekend. Photo Credit – Nocturnal Wonderland 2018 Nocturnal Wonderland also saw the return of three nights of RV, car, and tent camping under the starry night skies. We kicked off the weekend at the pre-party with bangers from Kayoh, Riot Ten, and more at Moonlight Grove. Camping also featured nighlty Silent Discos with artists such as BIJOU, Morelia and this year’s Discovery Project winner. We also enjoyed activities such as morning yoga, splashing in the waterpark, and arts and crafts. Long before he ran for a U.S. Senate seat in the great state of Texas, Beto O’Rourke played in a punk band called Floss alongside Cedric Bixler-Zavala. While Bixler-Zavala went on to form seminal outfits like At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, O’Rourke sought a career in public service, and is now looking to rid Texas of GOP booger-eating dufus and possible Zodiac Killer, Ted Cruz. As polls have tightened, Cruz, stupidly, has made O’Rourke’s punk rock days as the basis of attack ads, believing voters wouldn’t dare support a hip, relatable modernist in favor of a crusty college republican who also happened to be a serial masturbator. O’Rourke, of course, hasn’t shied away from his punk rock past; he recently shared a demo of his old band, hit the stage alongside Willie Nelson, and is scheduled to appear at a festival with Spoon and The Polyphonic Spree next month. What’s more, while debating Cruz on Friday night, O’Rourke referenced The Clash’s song “Clampdown” in chiding Cruz for being in bed with corporations and special interests. “He’s working for the clampdown, and the corporations, and the special interests. He’s not working for the people of Texas,” O’Rourke remarked. Beto O’Rourke just said Ted Cruz is “working for the clampdown” #Beto #BetoORourke pic.twitter.com/FQO9rLv3Ee — fritz araya (@fritzaraya) September 22, 2018 Following the debate, O’Rourke celebrated his strong performance with some Whataburger. While waiting in the drive-thru, O’Rourke air drummed along to The Who’s “Baba O’Riley”, which he called “maybe the best song ever written.” Later, he added, “Keith Moon! Tell me who’s a better drummer?” Here's Texas Senate hopeful Beto O'Rourke air drumming to The Who while in a Whataburger drive-thru: https://t.co/u1WQxKTihL pic.twitter.com/IkhYdW1BZL — Consequence of Sound (@consequence) September 22, 2018 And all this is without mentioning O’Rourke’s views on cannabis legalization, immigration reform, and single-payer healthcare, not to mention his dynamic charisma and informed answers on topics like athletes who kneel during the National Anthem and the death of unarmed black men at the hands of police. Those looking for a solid icebreaker with Jack White need only bring up The Outsiders. The Detroit singer-songwriter is clearly a huge fan of Francis Ford Coppola’s 1983 coming-of-age classic, enough to spend a chunk of change. According to the Portland Press Herald, White donated $30,000 to help restore the original Tulsa, Oklahoma residence featured in Coppola’s film. In fact, it was his funds that helped meet a fundraiser’s goal of $75,000 to complete necessary restorations. It’s all part of an effort being led by House of Pain founding member Danny O’Connor, who purchased the home in 2015 for $15,000 with the hopes of turning the iconic home into a museum. Looks like he got his dream. Stay gold, Danny Boy. Stay gold. The Outsiders is based on the 1967 coming-of-age novel by S.E. Hinton and stars Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, C Thomas Howell, Diane Lane, and Tom Cruise in formative roles. Odds are White owns it on Blu-Ray. Previously, White donated $142,000 to save Detroit’s Masonic Temple in 2013. Source

Sound Tulum is bringing some good news to the table, once again. After the announcement of their second edition which takes place December 29th through January 13th, they are quite relieved to reveal a new addition, Paradise. Created by the one and only Jamie Jones, Paradise is in its seventh season in Ibiza at the iconic DC10 club and will continue to be one of the best parties the White Isle has to offer. Over the season, Paradise has gained a notable reputation for being highly immersive, eclectic and diverse in their festivities as they’ve landed in many cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Miami, and Moscow. The new event will take place on January 3rd, 2019 in a brand new, exclusive venue. You wouldn’t be able to guess, but this will be happening at a jungle location at the 222nd KM of the Cancun-Chetumal road in Tulum. This outdoor space will be divided into 2 areas with many different areas to relax and party. The lineup will be coming out soon, and early bird tickets are already available by clicking here. As Stephen King once wrote, “Sometimes they come back,” and such is the case for iconic movie monsters. Despite several assurances to fans that he was retiring the role, Robert Englund will return as Freddy Krueger, only there’s a catch: it’s for ABC’s The Goldbergs. Yes, the unabashedly nostalgic sitcom will pay homage to Wes Craven’s 1984 classic with a special Halloween episode dubbed, “Nightmare on Elk Avenue”. According to Bloody Disgusting, Sean Giambrone’s Adam will have nightmares after watching the movie. To drum up hype, the network has shared an awesome promotional shot featuring Englund and star Wendi McLendon-Covey, who subs in for Heather Langenkamp, mirroring an iconic photoshoot from the original. See both below for comparison. Cute, but also kind of a big deal given that Englund, who’s now 70 years old, told Entertainment Weekly just last year that he’s “too old to do another Freddy,” arguing that “I can’t snap my head for eight different takes and different angles. My spine gets sore.” Here’s hoping this changes his mind. This is not the first time The Goldbergs managed to coax a legend out of retirement. Earlier this year, Rick Moranis reprised his iconic Spaceballs character Dark Helmet for an episode of the ABC sitcom. Source

The Cure celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2018, but Robert Smith isn’t counting down the days to retirement. In fact, the band looks to be particularly active in 2019. “We will be headlining around 20 festivals next summer — mostly in Europe,” Smith announced on Twitter. Further details will be revealed “when we get them,” Smith added. WE WILL BE HEADLINING AROUND 20 FESTIVALS NEXT SUMMER – MOSTLY IN EUROPE – DETAILS WILL BE POSTED ON https://t.co/49DRnrHwz0 AND https://t.co/ioCddDeOr2 WHEN WE GET THEM https://t.co/JWL7vnY17b — ROBERT SMITH (@RobertSmith) September 21, 2018 Smith also recently booked studio time for The Cure. “I’ve suddenly fallen in love with the idea of writing new songs,” Smith told BBC 6 Music in an interview back in April. The Cure’s last new recording came in the form of a cover of The Beatles’ “Hello Goodbye”, which was released on a Paul McCartney tribute album in 2014. Prior to that, their most recent studio output came via their 2008 album, 4:13 Dream. Earlier this year, The Cure marked their 20th anniversary with a pair of major concerts, including a headlining slot at London’s Meltdown Festival, which Smith himself curated, and a massive one-day event at London’s Hyde Park. Grimes recently found herself caught in the middle of a fight between her former (?) boyfriend Elon Musk and rapper Azealia Banks, who shared some intimate and embarrassing details about the Tesla founder after spending a weekend at his house. Lest we forget that the reason Banks was there in the first place was because she had been invited by Grimes to collaborate on new music. The auteur pop star has several projects in the works, and though she and Banks never did record anything together, Grimes promised the imminent release of new music a few weeks back. One such offering arrived today in the form of a theme song for the new animated Netflix series Hilda. Based on the comic book by Luke Pearson, the series follows a fearless blue-haired girl who travels from a wilderness full of elves and giants to a bustling city packed with new friends and mysterious creatures. Grimes’ theme soundtracks the opening credits, and you can hear it below. I'm very excited to share the title sequence for @hildatheseries featuring original music by @Grimezsz! Here it is! Hilda debuts on Netflix tomorrow! pic.twitter.com/NGKwdur9Jn — Luke Pearson (@thatlukeperson) September 20, 2018 Grimes’ last full-length album came back in 2015 with Art Angels. Source

J. Cole’s inaugural Dreamville Festival was canceled last week on account of Hurricane Florence, which made landfall in North Carolina and has since claimed the lives of more than a dozen people. “We’re working to get another date, but right now safety is most important,” the Forest Hills native tweeted at the time. The Kill Our Demons rapper and his camp were successful in finding a new date, as Dreamville Festival has been officially rescheduled for Saturday, April 6th, 2019. The event is still taking place at Dorothea Dix Park in Raleigh, NC, however, a new lineup is expected to be announced at a later time. J. Cole will close out the festival as originally planned. “We battled with the idea of moving forward with the festival at this time or formally cancelling the event. But after receiving unwavering support from the fans and the community, we are excited to announce Dreamville Festival will now take place on April 6, 2019,” Ibrahim “IB” Hamad, President of Dreamville Records and J. Cole’s manager, shared in a statement. He also noted that the MC’s Dreamville Foundation has set up a special campaign to help with relief efforts following the destruction of Hurricane Florence. “We are proud to say that Dreamville this spring will also serve as a benefit to hurricane victims in the Carolinas. We hope that fans in North Carolina and across the US will not only join in celebrating the very first Dreamville Festival, but also the resilience of this amazing community.” For more information on tickets and refunds, head here.
