  1. We charge between $350-$2k depending on the gig. the difference in clients that you get at $250 compared to $450 is night and day, the $450 parties are always great and never have an issue with payment etc. Everyone has to start out somewhere, but dont price yourself too low otherwise you will only get crappy gigs and no respect from your customers.
  2. cheers for that! yeah DJ warehouse are sponsored by Rane, so that makes sense.
  3. what clubs did you play at in adelaide?
  4. i bought a 600 from DMC, its not bad, one slightly dodgy effect button but its to be expected from something 8 years or so old. I paid $500 and they gave a 30 warranty on it (why i bought from there rather than Gumtree).
  5. hey Loky, see you there next thursday, what time are you on?
  6. what was expected price? you could buy a black pair for about $2k less, so Im surprised they got this much seeing as there are going to be 500 sets released anyway.
  7. MIDI is a communication protocol standard, so it can be used for lighting, music etc. bhootnike I would recommend that you just Google all the questions you have, look up wikipedia, look through this forum and also the Traktor and Serato websites etc. People on this forum can give you quick answers but you really need to do the research yourself to get a deep knowledge. There should be heaps of bhangra DJs around, just look on facebook and youre sure to find some.
  8. Im not sure if anyone here has actually taken a course in DJing here in melbourne, but if you have could you give me some feedback? Which one did you do, was it expensive, what did you learn etc? We used to do our DJ training internally but I would like to know if people have done a DJ course then what skills can I expect them to have on completion. There seems to be a lot of variation from past experience!
  9. i would say if you have a great laptop and no cash go for the s4, its on sale now for about $800-900. if you want to do gigs then i would say buy some second hand CDJ400s and a mixer. then you can plug your laptop and use the internal CDJ soundcards and HID (which the CDJ850 doesnt have and probably wont support) with traktor, or you can use CD etc. If you want to play gigs out then always have a backup, you'll need a second laptop or CDs/USBs in case someone pours a beer on your laptop at a gig.
  10. I hear white makes you 10% more effective at fist pumping.
  11. liked! what equipment do you use?
  12. Hey SolDios, wasnt me, Im in melbourne, but we have a big crew in Adelaide too. You probably met Tim, he's a great dude.
  13. I think if you plug into the 900 mixer then you will use traktor timecode (CD or turntable) in the CD players. If you plug direct into the CDJs then I think you can use the inbuilt sound cards. Im guessing but I would say plugging into the CDJs direct would have less latency.
