Cheers guys, Did NYE with DJ Anton on Wednesday and it was pumping. Had a bit of a problem with security but hopefully it all gets sorted.

Yeah that's why I'm happy about it. Already good at doing those things but it gives me a chance now to learn CDJ's better and then eventually beat mix without the visual aids i've unfortunately grown accustom to in VDJ.

Woot, looks like I may have scored myself a residency at the Woolshed here in Adelaide! Mate of mine recommended me to the entertainment manager and i went and met with him last night. I'm starting on either New Years or Saturday the 3rd. Going for a weekly slot on a Saturday and then maybe branching of to a Friday. I'll be playing top 40, country, pub tunes etc for the theme downstairs but hey, its a start The guy also runs a couple of other clubs so we'll see what i can manage to work out with him. Might end up doing a club gig on a Friday night and then bar tunes on a Saturday

Cheers mate. Best thing is it only cost me $2.99 for the prototype board (that can't be seen in the photos). I swapped the bread board over the a PCB. Everything else was either scrap, shit i had lying around or left over from Uni

Side before alterations the fan to be used. Pulled it from an old P4 computer that was lying outside my dad's shed when i helped him clean up for xmas. beta testing! note the active power LED also being installed. Seeing how the air flow is inside the box before mounting it to a PCB. La finished product Also when i installed it onto a PCB after noting that the fan was loud i decided to put a manual control switch it. Idea is that i'll only use it in hot venues! I also flipped the fan around so that it blew out rather then in. The idea is that i hope to pull the hot air out of the console and pull the outside air through the equipment thus making it cooler. Low inside the console pulls air from the high outside One step closer to a magnificent console Might insert a vent in the base of the unit if i don't get enough air flow through the equipment.

check this puppy out: http://www.djfurniture.nl/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=16&Itemid=33 My partner in crime and i are going to be looking at making a few of these as part of our ultimate console project (See DIY thread). Ideas include moding it to include a screen in the middle instead of the gap. CPU mounted inside the box and a laptop screen up top for our mobile setup. Of course the thing needs to be colloapseable to some degree so we can transport it in my mitusbitshi 1996 TR magna and his holden station wagon (no idea model or year) but that gives you some idea. Consoles an awesome desk though anyways!

Smelling an ADJF Fundraiser event??? Really wish i had greater timber skills then i have atm. Never had tech when i was at school. The year i started was the year they got rid of it. the images are still there too

speaking of small we really do need to promote this more to get more members. More members we have that are Australian in one place might mean that we can finally attract some attention from the music industry to make it fairer for us DJ's! I priced a typical liscence setup not long ago for all the typical shit we do and it was starting to get in excess of $1000!

Compared to the other units I've used this is about half the size and half the weight and provides just as much fog! The only drama I have is that fog fluid doesnt provide its ingreideints so i can match a like fluid for it when i run out. Especially as i can't find a supplier for Freedom fog fluid. might see if i can get my old boss from Novatech to supply me with Martin fluid for $50 for 5L

Cheers! literally took about a day with the running around getting parts and going to a mates place to use some tools. I've had the idea of this kinda console for a bout a year and done a couple of different drawings including an EPIC FAIL of a console which is way to heavy and awkward to use but hey, that's what trial and error is for. I'm going to add to it as i get funds to do so. The highlights going to be building or moding my own speaker boxes to include an av transmitter... when i get the funds that is.

I'm happy... my missus bought me a new 600watt fogger! I'll post some action shots later... imageshack is being slow. Got to love early xmas pressies!

OK for those who don't already no i pride myself as a bit of an electrical technician. I've been soldering since i was about 9 years old and am now studying Electrical Engineering at Adelaide University. I'm also in a prime position because i'm now starting to put together my own rig and equipment. Ideally my setup is going to be as wireless as possible at the end of it (being a mobile and all) achieved through wireless AV transmitters and a whole heap of other stuff. For now this is my console upgrade version two. (Full document and project will eventually be loaded up at http://mods.rhemydentertainment.com.au/ (Initial Layout) - Initial layout consists of a console comprising of equipment 10+ years old (CD rack has manufacture date of Oct 98). ○ American DJ XDM-352 Preamp mixer- ○ American DJ DCD-PRO300 Dual CD Rack - Panel mount on side of console has two RCA inputs and one RCA master output. In setup "as is" is not useable for a DJ console for my mobile setup. - For system to become usable will need balanced output in XLR format on right hand side to link to amp or active speakers. - Unit will also need DAC3 controller installed and USB port placed on side of unit for computer to interface with. (Installed XLR and USB) - Console hardware was removed and wood was removed from the bottom just above the handle as well as the section separating the mixer and CD controller. Additionally wood was removed from above the CD Controller. - This enabled all the equipment to be moved up excluding the dual CD tray. This created room for the DAC3 controller. - Balanced output was achieved through XLR MF patch cables with mountable female plugs. Plugs and cable bought from Jaycar. - Several USB configurations were trialed and tested. Final result used was achieved by mounting A end of AB USB cable onto a piece of stiffened reinforced cardboard screwed onto RHS of box. (XLR patch cables made for balanced out) (new layout) So there we have it guys. I'll update as i move closer and closer to my dream setup. Future mods include install of a cooling fan, wireless av transmitters, usb hub and sound cards in the box for my laptop setup that i use, as well as equipment upgrades to save space and weight. comment

how come you didn't go the road of the 800's from my playing around they offer similar features with maybe less effects. Generally i don't think on board effects are needed so much anyway. Good to mask stuff ups Out of 10 what would you rate the CDI's?
-
It's interesting coz i dont think anyone can post there yet...
-
as it says... so bummed. Check it: Totally chewed them. The worse part is you can't tin the wires used in headphones hence they are now useless. Might salvage the speakers and the plug that's about it.
-
CDI's? From everything i've heard about them they are not so hot...
-
I think if the skin was better designed and had more support for it i might use it professionally. Plus, the library needs work. I'll stick to VDJ for now... until I get TT's and go time-coded vinyl.
-
What have people heard or tried about this open source solution to DJ? Personally i'm not touching it until it has a DAC3 map or until i learn C++ to code my own.
-
like how do you go about producing music is it just like writting? you create layers and build upon them? What about remixes? is that just a song written at the same BPM as the remixed track and then its just the vocals that are overlayed to the track?
