  1. what are you using to record your mixes? All you need to do is invest in a 3.5mm male to rca, and then just take either the booth output or similar from your mixer and then put it into your mic input on your pc... use a program like sony sound forge to record or even the built in recorder as part of windows.... it all works!
  2. i still reakon we should just from a DJ union and that union should then negotiate with the companies like aria etc to get a download lisence....
  3. lol that occasional DJ might want to check Itunes TOS coz you cant use thier music commercially BUt that's a sick concept if the music industry could sort out their shit with MP3's as far as portforwarding... that site has nothing about the modem i use... apparently you cant do it with ym modem... i think the word cant just means i will have to write my own code to do it lol
  4. ah... in taht case, Serato or VDJ are good time coded solutions. I would be using time code with VDJ but cant be bothered right now
  5. make em yourself... its not that hard plus cheaper to
  6. As stated above. if you're keen and fit the criteria send me a pm and we'll discuss. criteria: 18+ vast music knowledge (aka dont stick to one genre) own transport system not nessacary avalible most friday and saturday nights.
  7. A few photos from my weekend: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=3313522&l=85d0a14e34&id=548988083
  8. at risk of sounding like a noob... DVS? as in Digital Video System?
  9. ok so heres the conclusion from my testing... I didnt get a chance that night but recently tried it on saturday night at another gig... no interfeerence what so ever. Looks like i may have just found a way to stay in contanct with my other DJ's while on gig for no cost now if only i could work out how to port forward on a mobile broadband stick so that i can get broadwave to work right
  10. not specifically... it just lists record labels, without nationality last i looked. broadcasting thsi is still an issue for me. i've found a way around this problem for now with regards to ppca lisence for public broadcast of music but not for online, i would still like to negotiate with teh labels directly rather then forking out $200 every quater per DJ and System i have working for me.
  11. ok, if your doing this mobile wise then you need to declare etc as mentioned above... if your just doing this as a hobbey and not as mobile then charge something fair and reasonable, dont make it out to be a professional service and then that way you dont need to declare it as the ATO consider it to be a hobbey that you can recover some of your setup costs for. if your doing it professional make sure you have public liability insurance, are PPCA lisenced (as its a private party not a venue) and bring lighting to complement your show. as far as the other guy goes... he sounds like a backstabber... hope hes not a mate of yours...
  12. two sites, ones australian ones UK http://www.visualsounds.com.au http://www.dmcworld.com pre-release tracks for DJ's only. Need to verify that you are of course a DJ and i would suggest you DO NOT bother if your a bedroom atm.... keep the integrity of the system.
  13. ps. Caleupe move to Mobile thread?
  14. check out these two sites: http://www.visualsounds.com.au http://www.dmcworld.com Must be able to show evidence as a DJ however as these are not for retail sale. Ie. if you're a bedroom DJ and jsut doing it as a hobby then don't bother. First one supplies TOP40 and Club tunes, Second one is UK sight very well known for there quality remixes, club tunage adn chart hits. All of these are pre-releases and hence contain a sense of Commercial In Confidence. (Don't go telling every tom dick and harry you meet on the street)
  15. I'll put my hand up. RhemyD.ausdjforums
  16. Theres really no need to download tracks these days anyway. If you;ve got the knowledge and the right sources you can legally acquire your music for a very low cost. I spend about $60 a month on my music subscriptions and it gets me eveyrthing i need to stay up to date... club charts, top40, remixes... its all good. It would be cheaper too but i insist on getting one of my collections from the UK 20GBP a pop
  17. do what you would do in an request situation. Write the name of the song down, the artist and let them know that you will play it when it fits into the mood of the evening. Most of the time they will understand, just make sure they have a good time and if the floor gets cleared play their tune for good measure. Never ever, ever, lie about what music you do or don't have. Not only is it unprofessional it mares bad on the rest of the industry as a whole.
  18. as far as i know they all use the audio out of the cd trays. I'm going to be looking at getting a CMX 3000 if your after a decent rack mount system i'd look at that. if money is an issue then look at DJ tech stuff.
  19. hey man i think the dates wacked too. (25 July 2009 Posted as 27 October 2008)
  20. Actually it was unless you had the licence for Format shifting said below and where to obtain one No mate it wasn't. You bought it from beatport hence it was already in MP3 format. You don't need the format shifting lisence said above. Rule of thumb that I use: If you paid money for the track, you won't have a problem. Just don't play pirated music.
  21. PS Caluepe why are the dates really really wrong...? (25 July 2009 Posted as 27 October 2008)
  22. Dennis... If you read the sites (ARIA etc) lisences are non-exclusive. You do not need these if you negotiate directly with labels. Plus the lisences are so full of holes there are masses of tracks you CANT play. Its good that you're point out to people that they need to do some research about the legalities of DJing but the way you're going about it is scaring people off. There's already enough threads with you going on about lisences, drop it man.
  23. I'll get a snap of the mobile setup i'm using tonight. Should be posted by this time tommorow.
  24. Hey guys, Just thought i would quickly check if anyone has any idea if a mobile broadband modem would create any interfeerence with a audio sound system? I'm planning on using my mobile broadband tonight at a mobile gig i've got just to keep in touch etc when the "boring" part of the night occurs. Also its kinda a test as I'm looking at in the future broadcasting my gigs live. Anyone know if it will cause interference like a mobile phone does? If i get told not to i'll avoid using it tonight and test it myself at home later on. Cheers guys.
  25. its frustrating i know the track exists... ive heard it... it was big about 3 months ago.... i just cant find any refrence to it anywhere.
