trying to find a decent rack mounted audio interface

yo yo, i'm trying to find a rack mounted audio interface. I've looked at Motu & RME but they are a little out of my price range. looking around the $500 mark. as i'm buying a few other things at the same time so just something to get me buy till i slowly start to upgrade.

i've looked at echo as well not sure if they are very good from the sounds of things

specs i need.

2x2 out puts (4)

5-10 inputs

maybe some sort of db meter on front.

thoughts, experience or any other info would help.

totally forgot about focusrite. the saffire pro 40 looks decent.

the RME fireface 800 are the best...thay sound sooo goood..but for $1000 + on ebay or $1800 to $2000 new..FT..

the saffire pro 40 looks good for $540..

yeah i would love an RME man, sadly i'm trying to get my "outboard" setup happening as fast as possible. I think i'll upgrade in the future but for now might have to do.

Fireface are great but I have more ears-on experience with motu 828 and so they tick all my boxes. Durable, reliable, crisp.

Sapphire is great for the money too.
