lol, just had a major beef with some whales on FB over whether he deserved to win. Been such a troll today innit Mitch? Anyway this whale was saying Izhos set wasnt musical enough. I agreed but DMC isnt judged on musical ability. the guys have 6 min these days to show off every technique they know. I reckon this guy crammed heaps in! but, on a musical note I did just remember this BAUS:
-
i know man. sometimes he sounds like he lost it but then he just drops back in. BOOM! 'kin luv dmc ish.

AAARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. all you "perfect" djs wont get this. all you others: mentalist throughout but from 3 minutes i needed a wipe

no one said it was meant to be easy, but dont give up, you are on the right forum. Mitch's advice is excellent. DO NOT TRUST BPM COUNTERS. here's a few other tips: 1) when BPMs wont match there are other types of mixes you can do that will suit. Try basic scratching, dropping on a break, cutting, or using effects to fade one out then dropping the next from a good cue point. It wont sound like beatmatching but not all music suits beatmatching, especially not rnb and hiphop. Listen to your favourite DJs mixing and work out how they made it sound good. Only EDM/Dance DJs do all beatmatching all the time. 2) songs are written at a certain tempo, if you change it too much you will lose the "feel" the song is supposed to have. 3) choose the order of songs so they only have a slight variation in tempo between each each time. 4) If you dont have a tap function to help you can also calculate BPM by physically counting beats while timing for a minute. 5) If you are using really varied music you may need to listen for any that are not in 4/4 time. eg some jazz, world, and some kinds of pop have 3/4, 6/8 or 7/8 time signatures. These will not beat-match over successive bars however magical you are. They will still mix though, you just have to get creative. good luck.

So let me get this right: You are finding it hard to beatmatch so you want to make all your songs the same tempo? Please confirm or explain. I feel confident we can help you.

yes mate. well thought out overall flow, smooth mixes and generally put a smile on my face. No prob with that mix from g6 to americano. FYI: I don't just listen to a mix. I move around and get on with my day, this simulates listening in a club better than sitting down and intensely scrutinizing a mix for "mistakes". If I was in club I would be chatting, drinking, dancing, laughing and so would everyone else, so we wouldn't notice that wobble unless we were stood over the DJ being a dick and not enjoying the party. You pulled it off by setting the arrangements of the two songs good enough. The build up of americano covered the slight mis-match of beats. It could get better, but it wasn't wrong. That doesnt mean it won't put of a club owner who is listening for perfection. So for online posts you may need to tidy it a bit. Just don't give yourself a hard time for that mix. It's not my fav genre and I don't know what is current like Mitch does so won't comment on the song choices. Am just well chuffed you got it together Sol. +rep. p.s. if you dont remember me I'm the whale who first recognised who fenix was all that time ago

IMO it depends on the host and the theme. As usual with mobile DJing the more you can research your customer the better prepared you can be to supply the service they want. But if in doubt: I am staff, no more or less important than the lad washing the pots in the I am a fagget... ... then if I get the crowd in the palm of my hand and they are up for it, I boss it anyway

listening... also following on soundcloud now

Dunno if anyone else uses Itch software by Serato but.... One of it's biggest drawbacks has been that there are no options to implement midi map changes at all. So this chap from Germany has generated a little app he calls "MITCH" (MIDI TO ITCH) which can translate any midi button to any keystroke available in the ITCH GUI. So it isn't really full midi-mapping but: if there is a keyboard shortcut for a function, you can set that function to be controlled by a midi pad. I have saved a preset so I now have an Akai LPD-8 which triggers individual drum hits or other sounds from the SP6 sampler within ITCH. Effectively it adds a 16 pad drum machine to my 4 deck DJ rig. Others use it for triggering cues, loops etc. He is also now working on a continuous controller mapping (so far no vol/fx/faders or knobs) as there are no keyboard shortcuts for these. The whole iTCH community is waiting for the devs to bring full midi control out for that. In the meantime MITCH is a nice workaround which is stable. And he has made it available to Mac and Windows users. Thread on serato forums on MITCH: http://serato.com/forum/discussion/623285 MITCH Developer DL site: http://irieelectronics.iriemovement.de/

LOL. On my other soundcloud account I had honestly assumed that all the posts were by people who had listened and given a shit. I never get many so I was chuffed for the feedback. Now i have started from scratch again I have seen it for what it is. Facebook for wannabe DJs. cheers for the knowledge gents. Soundcloud: fail... NEXT! in fact have you lot heard myspace is trying to making a comeback following a total revamp?
-
I just started a new soundcloud account. I uploaded 4 things. Before I told anyone it was there and within 3 hours: 1 thing has been favourited, 1 other has had a comment on it, but only 1 other different one has actually been played. So are gronks just "liking" and "commenting" on shit they havent heard? or are these some kind of mad bot? was it always like this and i never noticed? or is soundcloud mad as a box of frogs all the time?
