Manually controlling visuals during a performance

So I need to do a performance, and I'm going to do a live set with the Novation Launchpad.

But it's for an audio/visual piece, so I need a way to have visuals that I control too, during the performance.

I've never done any of this sort of shit before (VDJing?) so would appreciate some direction.

Don't even know where to start.

Do you have to control them or can they be random synced stuff to music, like a visualiser?

I think it could be either. It's for an assessment so we can kind of do anything(?)

i use GrandVJ sometimes. mapped it to my Akai mpk mini.

pretty easy to use and map etc.

If your doing audio ( Ableton ) and video with launch pad ....look at CellDNA ..by livid instrument

You can midi map the audio clip banks in Ableton to video clip banks in CellDNA ,trigger them both by the pad on the launch pad ...and the video EFX can be midi mapped to audio EFX in Ableton .....you can plug a cheep web.cam for a live camera feed ....and if your on a mac it's also got syphon

It's the best vj software to start with ...the demo is very easy to setup and use
