the reason people tend to use 44.1 is because that's what sample rate tracks will be mastered to for release on CD or as an mp3 downloadable file. anything you do above that in the recording process will be lost anyway really. not an expert but i think that's the case.

Music yes... Good music requires some knowledge and talent. I wouldn't say you needs heaps of natural talent to produce electronic music. It helps obviously but you get out what you put in if you lack in natural talent. Practice makes perfect.

you would take them as a given though. and these days you only need limited musical ability to produce music.

i use the original one again now too. i miss the dashboard showing what people you follow are commenting on/favouriting. hear some good shit that way.

been using this for ages now and it's pretty shit as you can't explore tracks on it yet. i do like the music still playing when your browsing though. They are taking their time to get the whole thing sorted though.

For the reason that in the olden days people didn't have this ability so nobody should use it now that it is available and becoming more common and will soon be the norm. Anyway... Not the time and place for this debate. because it makes it much easier (possible) to DJ on different set-ups when perhaps you won't have traktor if you know how to use your ears rather than your eyes. makes sense no? Absolutely. But in my case the chance of playing on anything different is next to zero. And I have no aspirations of actually playing at a club etc. But yeah, if this is where you are headed it is a required skill (for now). well the OP was asking abut CDJ's and being able to go play in a club. So if that's the goal it's always going to be better to be reliant on your own ears rather than a piece of software. That will allow you to play off Vinyl, Cd's or whatever. this skill will never die. Regardless if you think it will because you don't need it.

wait... just checked and looks like they are out of production. Replaced by the Reveal series. Haven't heard these but if the precision monitors are a benchmark they should be good too.

the 10's are some serious monitors. If this is for your entry into production I reckon the 6's or the 8's would do.

Not strictly true. You do get headphones designed for studio use. However, you should not use them as your only source of monitoring. for the last year I have been using my HD25's cos I'm living away from home most of the time and my studio stuff hasn't arrived from the UK yet. Results aren't too bad. Tracks do tend to be a bit bass heavy. I've learned to compensate for that (kinda). Should def try out a few DAW's. see which one works best for you although it'll be hard to judge if you don't really know how to use them. Ableton works for me as is so quick and easy to get some ideas thrown down. I would recommend getting a midi keyboard too.

there are guys in the dance scene who use it... Richie Hawtin DJ's with it as part of his set-up.

good contribution. I'll agree when I first saw it I said i would rather they just put out a video showing you what it could do. However, the sound in the video is a taste of what you can get out of this instrument.
