Oxnard is .Paak’s first release on Aftermath Entertainment, and is expected to feature label honcho and mentor Dr. Dre, in addition to DOOM and producer Madlib. “I feel like ambition is missing from today’s music,” .Paak said in a recent interview. “This is the album I dreamed of making in high school, when I was listening to [Jay-Z]’s The Blueprint, The Game’s The Documentary, and [Kanye West’s] The College Dropout.”(Read: From Compton to Malibu: The New Life of Anderson .Paak) In recent months, .Paak has teamed up with Nile Rodgers and Chic, Christina Aguilera, and Westside Gunn. Prior to his death in June 2018, XXXTentacion was working on a number of projects, one of which was an album called Skins. Now, Skins is set to receive a posthumous release on December 7th. Skins spans 10 tracks clocking in at just 17 minutes, which suggests many of the tracks will appear in unfinished form. Below, take a listen to the lead single, “Bad”. XXXTentatcion was shot and killed in an armed robbery at a motorcycle dealership in South Florida. Four men were subsequently arrested and charged with murder. Since his passing, XXXTentacion has appeared posthumously on a number of tracks, including alongside late rapper Lil Peep on “Falling Down”; with Lil Wayne on Tha Carter V track “Don’t Cry”; and with Lil Pump on the Skrillex-produced single “Arms Around You”. Today marks the release of Lil Peep’s Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2, the sequel to the late emo rapper’s Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 1 from last year. Subscribers of Apple Music and Spotify can stream it below. Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2 was assembled from demos recorded during the sessions for the record’s predecessor. Peep’s friend and longtime producer, Smokeasac, led the charge with co-producer George Astasio, and the final product was approved by the late rapper’s mother, Liza Womack. Previously, we’ve heard pre-release singles “Cry Alone” and “Runaway”. “As far as musically, I think we got the foundation for it around the time we had started originally recording,” Smokeasac (née Dylan Mullen) told NME about the album. “Basically, Peep was going through a lot of stuff at the time. He was really started to see the attention from his fans and he was really growing. But he also had personal problems in his life. We were both going through similar situations. I think both of us were using the music as a way of venting, almost. At the end of a long day of crazy things happening we’d sit down and make these songs. He and his girlfriend at the time were going through a rough patch and that fueled some of the music.” Peep died late last year due to an accidental drug overdose. Filmmaker Terrence Malick is reportedly executive producing a new documentary about the late rapper. A non-album, posthumous collaboration with XXXTentacion, “Falling Down”, was also released recently. Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2 Artwork: Come Over When You’re Sober Pt. 2 Tracklist: 01. Sufjan Stevens has shared a new song that is actually over a decade old. Called “Lonely Man of Winter”, the indie songwriter penned the track in response to songwriter Alec Duffy’s “Every Day is Christmas”, the winning entry in the 2007 Sufjan Stevens’ Xmas Song Xchange Contest. At the time, Duffy was the only individual to have access to the song, which he shared during listening parties around the world over the years. Now, for the first time, Sufjan fans everywhere can listen to the beautiful ballad. You can do so below. Stevens’ “Lonely Man of Winter” and Duffy’s “Every Day is Christmas” are included on a new three-track compilation that also features an updated version of the former track from Stevens. The new recording features production by Thomas Bartlett and a performance from She and The Sun’s Melissa Mary Ahern. Sales from the compilation benefit Duffy’s Brooklyn non-profit performance venue JACK, a space with a mission to “fuel experimentation in art and activism and help it serve as a launch pad for the next generation of artists,” according to a press release. The “Lonely Man of Winter” compilation will be released on a limited 7-inch via Asthmatic Kitty Records on December 7th, with pre-orders ongoing. Update: You can stream the full three-song release below. Lonely Man of Winter by Sufjan Stevens Source

Download | Listen and subscribe via Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Google Play | Radio Public | Stitcher | RSS The Lowdown: It’s been a real Lynchian experience for The Smashing Pumpkins in the years following 2000’s Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, the last studio album to feature Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin. There was Zwan. There were solo albums. There was a half-reunion. There was a half-reunion record (see 2007’s Zeitgeist). There was another Chamberlin-less era. There were two Chamberlin-less albums (see: 2012’s Oceania and 2014’s Monuments to an Elegy). There were two nostalgic tours, both featuring Chamberlin and one bringing back Iha. From there, we got some cats, we got apathetic trips to Disneyland, we got weird interviews with Alex Jones, and, yes, we got a 75% reunion tour that kept arenas gloomy all summer. Alas, we’ve finally reached Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 / LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun., an exhaustively titled reunion album produced by Rick Rubin that carries a lot of weight. It’s a recalibration for the band, albeit one with far less estrogen unfortunaely, finding Corgan, Iha, and Chamberlin on new songs together for the first time in 18 very long, very twisted, and very confusing years. The Good: “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” arrives early on the record, serving as a far more effective opening salvo than “Knights of Malta”, hearkening back to a time when this act was far more invested in coddling your heart than rocking your feet. It’s a strummer in the vein of “1979” or “Perfect” or “Try Try Try”, and Corgan hasn’t sounded this affective since “Home”, indulging in his teenage obsessions with The Cure. “We’re in the middle, we’re in the middle, ghosts,” he sings with gooey bruises. It’s gothic poetry that demands a white-out doodle on every millennial’s Five-Star notebook. Such heights are scratched only momentarily throughout the album: Both “Knights of Malta” and “Alienation” thunder by with the help of Rubin’s muscular production, nailing the arena rock vibes that Roy Thomas Baker absolutely fumbled on Zeitgeist. “Travels” sounds like a balmy Zwan song, and it wouldn’t be surprising to discover it was part of that band’s rumored archive of recordings. And, finally, late stunner “With Sympathy” offers one of those spirited jogs that Corgan used to wedge midway through the older Pumpkins albums, grooving along with Iha’s ’90s autumnal rhythms. (Read: The Very Best of The Smashing Pumpkins) The Bad: Unlike the Pumpkins’ last few releases, particularly Zeitgeist, the bad here really isn’t all that bad. In other words, it never gets ugly, and while it’d be unfair to say Corgan didn’t try in the past, you can tell he’s really giving it his all on this album — and that matters. Even so, there are some meandering lows on this album, mostly when this band tries to act like they still have another “Zero” in them. They don’t and probably never will, which is why the group’s strongest work over the last 18 years, both with or without the original team, is the soft and melancholy stuff. They proved this with first single “Solara”, which was passed around like a wilted sample cup of fruit when it initially dropped this past summer — and for good reason. It’s a lifeless slice of rock that’s far more effective as an inoffensive deep cut than the resounding comeback single it wants to be. Yet that’s the problem with the heavier fare on this album: they’re all wearing pinstripes. The ugliest case of this is “Marchin’ On”, a greasy, sleazy rollercoaster of a song that belongs more to Velvet Revolver than, say, the shoegaze-loving rockers that broke through with “Cherub Rock”. The Verdict: It’s been a lonely 18 years for Corgan, filled with all sorts of unpredictable twists and turns commercially, critically, and culturally. Be it sour grapes, impossible compromises, or simply shitty cell phone service, Corgan has mostly been toiling away by his lonesome, trying to sell the Pumpkins name as his own spectacle. To his credit, he’s never been one to lean on the past, and say what you will about his execution, but his attempts have all at least been in the service of forging ahead towards some kind of future that doesn’t stand directly on ceremony. Strangely enough, everything that Corgan was trying to run away from is what might move him forward. Although his roots are in the Midwest, he’s long dreamed of being the big LA rock star, playing arenas and saving the world. (For Christ’s sake, he wrote an entire concept album about it.) Those days are long gone — that’s less his fault and more a sign of the times — but he’s never been closer to that fantasy. After all, they’re playing arenas. They’re doing late-night shows. They’re working with Rick Rubin. It’s a magical time for Corgan, who no longer sounds as if he’s singing in an echo chamber. But reuniting takes time. People change — artists especially — and it’d be foolish to assume that three friends, torn apart by bitterness and rage, would just somehow all of a sudden strike up the same ol’ magic. That was never going to happen, no matter how many bathrobes Rubin gave them in Malibu, but it’s certainly proven to be a start. After all, how else do you explain a song like “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)”? It might not be the same magic, but something magical is coursing through Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1., hinting at a future we can all embrace — especially Corgan. Essential Tracks: “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)”, “With Sympathy”, and “Travels” Source

Mastodon won their first-ever Grammy award back in January, but guitarist Brent Hinds wasn’t there to accept the trophy. Now, he reveals that he was the victim of a hit-and-run crash while riding his motorcycle at that time, landing him in the hospital. The metal musician shared photos today (November 8th) on Instagram of his bloody face from the accident while promoting a new film called Hell Bound that was premiering tonight in Atlanta, Georgia. In a bit of a rambling caption, he wrote, “I was lucky enough to live through playing a Lil bit a guitar on the sound track on January 23, 2018 and that’s why I couldn’t attend the Grammy’s (because I was involved in a hit and run on my motorcycle that ended me up in pistola)..that i got absolutely NO shout out from my best friends/band mates ..I know they love me and just be havin stupid nervousness, but still ! Here is a few photos of the results.” The pictures appear as you click through the slideshow below: On January 28th, Mastodon won a Grammy for Best Metal Performance for their song “Sultan’s Curse”, marking their first win after five nominations. After seeing the comments on his Instagram post, Hinds updated it with, “To all the people that think that this is recent ..or funny? please stop the stupid fucking comments ..I put the post up to pimp my ‘friends’ movie..Go see this movie..!!! And go fuck your self’s.” In 2016, Hinds broke his leg while trying to start his motorcycle, forcing his side project Giraffe Tongue Orchestra to cancel their tour. Meanwhile, in more recent injury news, Hinds busted open his elbow and had to get stitched up when he slipped on the rocks while on vacation with his wife in Brazil. He shared a photo that his wife took, saying, “2 seconds after this photo was taken. I slipped and busted my elbow wide open ! you would think that I had totally forgotten that rocks that have been wet for an eternity are very slippery..but there was a carving in the rock that had caught my eye just behind me …such a sucker for a good ol carved fish into a rock!” The entirety of Mastodon suffered hardship in September when their longtime manager, Nick John, passed away from pancreatic cancer. The band canceled its fall tour with Dinosaur Jr. shortly before his death, citing a “critical situation of a member of the Mastodon family.” Source

Earlier this year, an “influencer only” mural erected in Los Angeles went viral as part of an advertising plot for Dillon Francis’s new original series “Like & Subscribe.” The plot worked, riling up plenty of actual influencers and media outlets in the process. Now, five months later, the series is finally debuting. “The wait is over,” tweets @likeandsub. “We had some small difficulties (our network shut down and no longer exists) but Like & Subscribe is officially coming out November 13th everywhere! Episode 1 premieres next week on @funnyordie.” The series was originally meant to come out July 90 on Verizon’s go90 platform. But shortly after that was announced, Verizon announced it was killing off go90. So the cookie crumbles… Luckily, the series was picked up by Funny Or Die and will debut next week, November 13. As Daily Dot summarizes, “Dillon Francis plays arrogant social media manager Skyy Goldwynne, who can’t remember how many people he manages; Courtney Pauroso plays his fraught assistant Molly. There’s Cody Clark, the age-ambiguous “teen” star played by comedian Brandon Wardell; Hi Haylee (Madeline Whitby), the phone-addicted YouTube star; Lil Dose (Lou Wilson) a popular prankster; and Dronez (Jacob Womack), a gamer and prankster.” Watch the trailer below and get ready to laugh next week! Elon Musk might be a little bit of a genius and also a little bit insane, but at the end of the day, he’s just a big science nerd with a lot of money and some cool ideas. However, what would be really interesting is nabbing a group of degenerates, giving them Elon’s funds and seeing what cool features they can come up with. Well, as luck would have it a new paper by researchers at the University of Surry and Oxford reckon that in the near future, pay-per-hour brothels will be cut out and replaced by self-driving cars. “While SCAVs [shared, connected autonomous vehicles] will likely be monitored to deter passengers having sex or using drugs in them, and to prevent violence, such surveillance may be rapidly overcome, disabled or removed. “Moreover, personal CAVs will likely be immune from such surveillance. Such private CAVs may also be put to commercial use, as it is just a small leap to imagine Amsterdam’s Red Light District ‘on the move’,” the paper says. The study also reckons that self-driving cars could impact the hotel and coach tour industry, as people have their own swanky mode of transportation it doesn’t make sense to waste pressure hours sleeping in a motel. However, a pretty big drawback of self-driving cars is it would essentially undo all our environmental work. replacing a coach with 15 more cars isn’t exactly efficient, so let’s see where the technology takes us. After teasing yesterday that she was working on a remix of a track from Porter Robinson’s Worlds, Rezz has revealed that the track is none other than “Divinity.” It’s not the most popular track on the album, nor is it the most aggressive, but it sets the tone for the rest of the world quite brilliantly and its chords are absolutely unmistakable. From the very first stuttering notes to the heavy-handed kicks, “Divinity” is still an incredible track through and through. It will be quite interesting to hear what kind of spin Rezz has put on the track. She’ll be playing it out at shows and encourages her fans to take videos of the track, so let us know if you hear it! The classic 1960s cartoon Jonny Quest ran for only one season when it first debuted, but it has lived on in popular culture through a number of television, comic book, and video game revivals. Yet the Hanna-Barbera creation has never received the big screen treatment, although not for lack of trying. Back in 2015, Warner Bros. announced that Robert Rodriguez was set to direct a live-action remake of the beloved series, which follows the titular character and his crew solving mysterious around the globe. Before that, Peter Segal had been tapped to helm a version of the film with Zac Effron and Dwayne Johnson set to play Quest and his special agent bodyguard Race Bannon, respectively. But ultimately, it might be The LEGO Batman Movie director Chris McKay who will get the honor of bringing the project to fruition. The Wrap confirmed today that McKay is officially on board to lead the silver screen adaptation. There is no word yet on a release date for the film, but it will likely follow Dungeons and Dragons, McKay’s current title for Paramount. The director is also working on a live-action film about Nightwing, a grownup version of Batman’s former sidekick Robin, for Warner Bros. and DC Films. Source

No one would confuse Snoop Dogg for a Trump supporter. Hell, the guy pulled a prop gun on a POTUS clown in the video for his remix of BadBadNotGood and Kaytranada’s “Lavender”. In the wake of the midterm elections, Snoop found himself in Washington, D.C. and used the opportunity to stage his own unique form of protest: smoking a blunt right outside the White House. It all started when Snoop Dogg “got the urge” to “not only go to the White House, but do some gangsta shit.” 20,000 likes later, he hopped in his SUV with his body guards, posted up on a bench in (presumably) Lafayette Park across the way from the White House, and lit up. After complimenting an old white dude’s hair and taking a picture with some fans, he sparked up again. “While you niggas is voting and doing all this other bullshit, I’m at the White House, nigga, smoking. Nigga, fuck the president,” he said in the trademark Snoop blend of smoothness and G. (Uh, hopefully you actually voted, too, Mr. Dogg.) We somehow doubt Trump caught a glimpse of the Schedule 1 infraction from the Oval Office, or else surely we’d have video of Secret Service tussling with Snoop’s people. Watch the whole thing go down in the Instagram videos below. Source

John Mayer went from being a guitar wunderkind to being, well, pretty much the worst guy in your high school. He dropped the n-word in an interview, made the bizarre claim that his “dick is sort of like a white supremacist,” and cockily described ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson as “sexual napalm.” He’s spent the intervening years focusing on music, comedy (he’s amusing if he’s not doing stand-up), and the Grateful Dead supergroup, Dead & Company, the likes of which have helped him stay out of the tabloids. He’d like you to remember that, too, the next time you trash him. “Some people still say, ‘That guy’s a dick,’” Mayer told Billboard in a new cover story. “And I go, ‘Well, any of that data you’re working off of is really old.’ I mean, I can tell you for sure that I haven’t been a dick in many years. That’s a really outdated take.” (Read: The 10 Most Obnoxious Things Ever To Happen In Music) He added, “I probably had a run in my life where I wasn’t aware that there was anything I couldn’t have. And it made a monster out of me. And there’s something very freeing about ‘You can’t.’ And that’s about the right age in your life where you go, ‘Yeah, you can’t.’” That’s cool and all, but it was only a few years ago that he was throwing shade at ex-fling Taylor Swift. Old habits die hard. Source

Everyone’s loving Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Well, everyone except The Satanic Temple. The Salem-based institution is suing the streaming giant and Warner Bros. for up to $150 million over its copyrighted design of the goat-headed deity, Baphomet. In the series, the statue resides in The Academy of Unseen Arts, where Sabrina attends, and has connections to Satan. That’s not how the statue is intended to be portrayed, though, as the Temple argues in court documents obtained by The Blast: “Among other morally repugnant actions, the Sabrina Series’ evil antagonists engage in cannibalism and forced-worship of a patriarchal deity.” “It’s deeply problematic to us,” Lucien Greaves, co-founder and spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, told SFGATE. “[But] even if that wasn’t the case we’d be obligated to make a copyright claim because that’s how copyright works.” For purposes of comparison… pic.twitter.com/AZJvmq1Cks — Lucien Greaves (@LucienGreaves) October 30, 2018 The Temple’s statue, which was unveiled in Detroit in 2015, was originally modeled after a 19th-century illustration of the deity with specific qualities that are featured in the reproduction used in the supernatural series. As such, the Temple is suing for copyright infringement, trademark violation, and injury to business reputation, which each carrying a hellish price tag of $50 million. “It’s distressing on the grounds that you have to worry about that association being made where people will see your monument and not know which preceded the other,” Greaves further explained. “And thinking that you arbitrarily decided to go with the Sabrina design for your Baphomet monument, which rather cheapens our central icon.” In a sense, it’s kind of a win-win for the Temple. If all goes according to plan, they can walk away with some money, while also getting some free publicity, especially for those who might be interested in seeking out the statue. Nevertheless, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is currently streaming on Netflix. Source

Disney revealed more details of its long-awaited streaming service, which is scheduled to launch in 2019. During a call with investors on Thursday, Disney chief Bob Iger announced that the platform will be called “Disney+. Even more exciting, Iger revealed some of the content scheduled to appear on the platform upon its launch. We already knew of Jon Favreau’s live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian. Turns out there’s a second Star Wars project in the works, a prequel to Rogue One centered about Diego Luna’s rebel spy character, Cassian Andor. Luna will star in the series, undertaking “espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.” Star Wars won’t be Disney’s only major film franchise to have a presence on Disney+. Iger also revealed plans for a series centered around Loki, Tom Hiddleston’s character from The Avengers. Much like Luna, Hiddleston is on board to head the series. And though it wasn’t announced by Iger, Variety reports of a second Avengers offshoot series starring Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch. Both series will span six to eight episodes and will be overseen by Marvel head Kevin Feige. Source

We’re so unused to hearing new Skrillex dubstep, we wouldn’t be surprised if you forgot that a classic like “Ruffneck” was even a thing. And yet, the classic is on the verge of revival if this cheeky teaser from Kill The Noise is any indication. Yesterday on Instagram, KTN uploaded a couple short clips of an Ableton project file which, by all accounts, seems to be leading up to a drum & bass drop on “Ruffneck.” Plenty of Skrillex tracks have been remade into higher tempo bangers, but this one is especially scrumptious, even more so given KTN’s history in D&B production as Ewun. Insomniac recently announced a Kill The Noise & Friends show in Los Angeles at Exchange – we’re not saying that Skrillex is definitely going to show up, but we’re not not saying that, either. If you’re in the area, I’d make it a point to get a ticket. Check out the teaser via KTN’s Instagram below! Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Well, we’ve never seen this before. Alison Wonderland was scheduled to perform on EDC Orlando’s main stage right before headliner Kaskade, but fans had one major complaint: she was playing at the same time as Illenium. The two artists’ fanbases overlap by a considerable amount, so you’d understand fans’ frustrations when seeing the set times drop. Fortunately, Alison is an absolute goddess. As she wrote on Twitter, “A lot of people have voiced their concerns about the clash between myself and Illenium at EDC Orlando. “I have heard you & have worked hard with the promoters to change my set time so that you can see BOTH of us.” So now, rather than play direct before Kaskade, Alison has actually made her own set time earlier in the night just so that her fans didn’t have to choose between her and Illenium. I mean… can you think of any other artist who would do such a thing?! See the updated set times here – and major props to Alison for this selfless act. We keep gradually learning more about HBO’s much-anticipated Watchmen series slated for 2019. We’ve long known David Lindelof was set to create a “remixed” television adaptation of Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons and John Higgins’ beloved comic series, and recently learned Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross would score the show. Over the last few months, we’ve also received updates on who would be joining the cast, including The Leftovers’ Regina King, Miami Vice’s Don Johnson, and British actor Jeremy Irons. Now, a few additional details have emerged about the mysterious project. Irons was previously suggested to be playing an unspecified “aging and imperious lord of a British manor,” but /Film has confirmed that said lord is none other than Adrian Veidt, otherwise known as the controversial former superhero Ozymandias. The extent of the character’s role in the series is as yet unknown, but given some spoiler-y set photos, his presence is likely to exert a strong influence over the show. /Film has also revealed that Jean Smart is joining the cast as well. The Frasier/Fargo/Legion star has signed on as Agent Blake, “an FBI agent tasked with tracking down vigilantes.” That surname should raise eyebrows for fans of the comic, as she shares it with Edward “The Comedian” Blake, i.e. the character who’s death in the original Watchmen launches the plot. Will Agent Blake be related to the vigilante turned government operative? Or is this just a winking homage to a classic character? There’s still much more to uncover before the series debuts sometime next year. Source

LA has no shortage of options when it comes to Halloween shenanigans. And for the last few years, event company Underrated has offered their biannual Minimal Effort festival for all the underground house and techno fans to rise from their (we assume) all black apartments and party. For me, Minimal Effort events (both Halloween and New Year’s) have been a little hit or miss over the years. They’ve had to deal with some tricks: overcrowding, overzealous security, lack of restrooms causing long lines, and some ghoulish patrons peeing in the smoking section. However, with each festival they seem to be learning from the past and I would say this year’s Halloween event held at the Belasco Theater on the 27th was more treat than trick. photo by Jar Photo The Belasco Theater was the perfect setting for a Halloween party. From the outside looking in, the theater looks tiny and a little bit rundown. This gave the event that perfect Phantom of the Opera-esque creepy vibe. However, once inside the theater is actually very spacious with many different rooms that Minimal Effort transformed for its various stages, as well as an incredible art/merchandise gallery for those in attendance to retreat to while smoking, looking for friends, or taking a break from the intensity of the body heat and music inside. Minimal set up four separate stages utilizing the various levels provided by the theater layout. The gothic decor of the main stage reminded me almost of Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion and set the scene for the tunes of Human Resources, Boys Noize, and Whomadewho. Upstairs, the ballroom held a cornucopia of Dirtybird with Worthy, Christian Martin, Ardalan, and the LA debut of Ardalan’s Ardy Party. The basement held the likes of Nicola Cruz and Audiofly, and the Temple Tuesday stage had the lineup I knew the least about. Unfortunately, I never quite made it to the room to check them out. photo by Jar Photo Despite Minimal Effort’s rocky report card, Underrated seems to have ironed out the kinks. This year’s Halloween event was a perfect mix of music and wickedness and I didn’t once feel like there was a repeat of any of the past issues I have experienced. If I did have one complaint, it would with the Belasco itself. A little more A/C would definitely have been appreciated because it was incredibly hot inside the venue. That said, I feel pretty comfortable in recommending anyone who is into house and techno to check the next Minimal Effort event. Luckily you don’t have to wait long. Up next for Minimal is their annual NYE event, which is also being held at the Belasco Theater. The lineup includes Sasha, Justin Jay, Layton Giordani, Option4, Skream, Super Flu, Will Clarke, YokoO, Human Resources, Hats & Klaps, Jonnie King, and VNSSA. Tickets for the New Year’s Event can be found on Minimal Efforts website. This article was first published on Your EDM. John C. Reilly’s no stranger to the music world. The actor’s toured both as his Dewey Cox character from Walk Hard and with his folk outfit, John C. Reilly and Friends, and his lone Oscar nomination came thanks to his performance in the 2002 musical Chicago. On Sway’s SiriusXM show on Wednesday, however, the actor showed a different side of his musical leanings by freestyling over Kanye West and Common’s 2007 collaboration “Southside”. (Read: Step Brothers Was One of the First Great Films About the American Economic Crisis) Though Reilly’s clearly drawing upon the improvisational skills he honed in movies like Step Brothers, Pitchfork notes that he also draws some inspiration from Spoonie Gee’s 1981 single “Spoonie Is Back”. Watch it below. Reilly’s got a plethora of projects coming up, from his turns in Ralph Breaks The Internet and Holmes & Watson to his appearance on the Beastie Boys Book audiobook. Source

This Monday, Spring Awakening Music Festival announced its new location and on-sale dates to fans. Only, it appears that the city wasn’t even aware of it. Alderman George Cardenas is reprimanding the festival for making promises and announcements before consulting the city and the officials who oversee the district. “Like everybody else, I found out through the media,” he continued. “I heard rumors and someone had sent me what they posted on the website. Right away people started talking, ‘Why didn’t the alderman notify the community?’ We immediately get the blame for this, but what (React) did was not right.” The festival apparently submitted a Special Event Permit Application to the Chicago Park District, though it was only received on November 2 – just three days before SAMF made their announcement on Monday. Because the application is still being evaluated, said the district, a permit has yet to be issued. “The first thing I do as an alderman is go to my community and get their input,” noted Cardenas. “As of today, I’m so insulted by it, what would I do with people that have no respect for my community? But some people in the community want to hear more about it. I think we at least owe it to people to try to understand it and see if this works or not.” Spring Awakening Music Festival will (tentatively) return for its eighth annual installment June 7-9, 2019, this time at Douglas Park. Public early bird passes to Spring Awakening Music Festival go on sale Tuesday, Nov. 13 at noon at www.springawakeningfestival.com. via Chicago Tribune This article was first published on Your EDM.
