well the thing we're talking about is through the uni, as in you register a society, so you can't make profit from it and the other things i'm talking about are just having a stall at events or whatever
-
any other ideas? DJ or producer or audio engineer conventions etc?
-
it's just about getting the initial club/society registered, then I can co-ordinate across the country
-
nah only need to bump for a while. new DJ's will only access this new radio guide existing ones will be heckled until they are unretarded enough to follow simple shit

Where did the name come from? It all started one fine day, where work was travelling at a snail’s pace... With some free time on my hands, I decided to put a bit of work into coming up with a stage name. After running through a bunch of ideas that just didn’t work, I decided to consult the ADJF brains trust (AKA chat). After a whole bunch of brainstorming, we all agreed that Holepunch was the name of choice... there isn’t another one out there, it’s has a certain toughness to it, and was clearly an object on someone’s desk during our mid afternoon brainstorming session. How long have you been playing & how did it all begin; What factors came together for you to take an interest in DJ'ing/Producing? Music is something I've always taken an interest in. Even when I was a little kid, I was recording music on cassettes from chart shows on the radio and used to love playing it them as loud as possible, so the neighbours could hear how cool the music was that I was listening to! I’ve had an interest in many genres over the years, but the whole EDM phase started for me in the late 90’s when wild FM was actually a radio station, and dance/NRG was the norm in clubs at the time. At a similar time, a friend got hold of a mixer (the most basic 2 chanel heap of crap i’ve ever seen) and two diskmans. He showed me how to mix on those at a party one time. There was no pitch control, just play/stop, so you had to play at EXACTLY the right time, or you ended up with a MASSIVE train wreck. This was my first introduction to mixing, and it was cool, but I didn’t really pursue any of this until years later... Around 2005 I became absolutely obsessed with house music, and after buying many mix cds, I decided to buy some cdj’s and a mixer and teach myself the awesome art of mixing.... I haven’t stopped since What do you spin? How would you describe your sound and what sort of style/DJ's influence you? My sound has evolved over the years, but never really strayed from house, as such. Tech house is something a play a fair bit of at the moment, but I don’t like to subscribe to a single genre. I’m just as comfortable spinning tech house, as I am electro, techno, breaks or your garden variety house... my mixes on my soundcloud are testament to that I draw influence from different areas of EDM, but to list a few, i’d have to say: Eric Morillo, Sven Vath, Chuck Love, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Chuckie, Mark Knight, Bass Kleph, Fedde le Grand, Format B.. What are your weapons of choice? Currently, I’m using a pair of denon 3700 decks and a DNX1600 Mixer, with traktor scratch pro 2 and a Kontrol X1. I’ve been using this setup consistently for a few years now, and it has served me well, however I have plans to switch to pioneer’s rekord box and have my tracks on USB in the very near future. It’s all personal preference for most people, but after having used this recently, I believe it’s the option that suits my needs the best. If you could change 1 thing along your way up to where you are now, what would it be and why? I would have started at a younger age, and also not tried to collect EVERY bit of music possible in the beginning... I’d rather a smaller collection of well organised tunes that i knew inside out, than a massive collection where I knew zero of what I had downloaded. If you could put yourself as the resident DJ in any scene, where would you choose and why? Given the sounds that influence me, it’d be pretty hard to go past being a resident in Ibiza at somewhere like space.... It’d be magic to play on the terrace. I wouldn’t mind being a part of the glitz and glamour of some of the clubs in Vegas, but then again, it seems to be less about the music and more about the image and table service. What other Australian DJ's/Producers do you rate? The bomb squad boys are producing some good commercial type remixes and bootlegs lately, which can find their way into those party sets quite easily. For that prog stuff, you can’t go past Dirty south and Jaytech. Our ADJF regular JonnyB (swiss dub) has kinda put me onto filth Collins lately. His tracks are pretty fucking sweet. I have a soft spot for trance, so i’m going to give Tydi a mention. His productions are amazing, and that track he released a while back called vanilla will always be one of my favourites Last but DEFINITELY not least, Bass Kleph is someone I rate very highly. I thoroughly enjoy his sets and productions. What was the first album you ever bought? Before CD’s my first album was John Farnham – Chain reaction.... First CD was a live recording of Vanilla Ice. The most defining CD that guided (pun intended) me down the musical path I am still on today, would be MOS Clubbers guide 2005 (disk 1) Cheers Lloydc! An updated radio tutorial has been uploaded: *link removed - Ask for it in chat* Most of your settings will still be ok, but please take note of step 3, and in particular the required conventions of Name Most of you will have all sorts of shit in this section, so please replace it with what has been outlined in the guide to ensure consistency. This is a requirement if you want to stream on ADJF Radio. Thanks
