  1. http://forums.pioneerdj.com/eve/forums/ ... 093884/p/4 Rotary isn't available for the 700
  2. lol yeah i know, although I could get the rane MP2016 with the expander for a little bit more than the empath (which yes it is a rotary, but not really a true rotary if that makes sense). The urei on the other hand $$$$$$$...
  3. Depends what we are talking about. DVS or stuff like Ableton with controllers? I've seen plenty of DVS systems (Serato/Traktor) used around the place, even saw a guy rock it with a VCI-300 (and I know the guy can rock it with vinyl and cd). I don't often/rarely see a controller in effect, but plenty of times see the DVS systems going. All depends, DVS is just the same as vinyl or cd, I use vinyl, cd and serato and prefer mixing with vinyl and cd. But sometimes it's good to have all your music in front of you (makes it great for pulling out classics).
  4. http://www.rane.com/mp2016a.html http://www.ureidj.com/product_1620LE.aspx Basically you are replacing the faders with knobs. The sound quality of these things are better, and are great for long transitions (from what i've been reading/heard)
  5. How did it go, how badly did you fuck up? lol Mine was a gig up in Port Macquarie a little warm up slot. Went pretty smooth, played some jazzy house into a bit more funky house type stuff. Made one major fuck up of pressing the wrong cue point on serato (which cued the playing track back to the start, haha woops). But all-in-all was a good night. Nick Thayer from melbourne played the headline spot and absolutely ripped it up. Playing breaks with some old school hip hop/classic rock amongst the rest. Crazy/crazy night. So that's my story, Let's here how all of your's went.
  6. Yo, anyone down for a deep house set? I'm talkin' anything deep, techy, somewhat soulful. Pretty much anything that would go down well on a sunday arvo with some beers in the sun Let's say 30mins, you can use vinyl/cd's/DVS whatever. Who's down?
  7. I've been kickin it old school lately with some classics from a few years back. Fred Everything and Roy Davis Jr - Next To Me Demarkus Lewis - Tell Me Why Georg Levin - (I Got) Somebody New (Original or the MAW mix, both are great)
  8. Hey guys, Just thought I'd see if anyone here has used a rotary mixer before? I'm interested in checking some out as I'm always trying to get long transitions out and really smooth mixing opposed to quick transitions/cuts etc. Was looking at the rane empath rotary as a basic look into the rotary market, but also wasting my budget on something like the Rane Mp 2016 (with XP expander) or the Urei 1620LE (but then bye bye any form of cash left over lol). So has anyone had experience with rotary mixers and would care to shed some light on how they are to use. Cheers.
  9. Ok a couple of options for you, I'm guessing you've never actually mixed before (sorry if I'm wrong). Option A: * Behringer BCD-3000 (or equivalent) with whatever software it comes with (I think Traktor LE or something). This little controller will set you back a couple of hundred and will allow you to mix straight off your computer. Then when you catch the Djing bug and want to get more into it, you can save your cash to buy some decks (Cd/vinyl/or even more advanced controllers). That way if you don't like DJing after a couple of months you didn't waste thousands of dollars. Option B: * CDJ200 or 400's with a basic 2 channel mixer (Numark DXM06 maybe) still quite in expensive and will let you do all you will need to. All you have to do is burn your tunes to cds and you're good to go. Will set you back about $1500ish. Dont forget for these you will need speakers, headphones (unless you already have these). Hope this helps somewhat.
  10. this is a solid mix people, jump on it if you like them funky house tunes!! Perfect for a sunday arvo!
  11. Hey, I'm looking to sell my Ecler Nuo3 (not the 3.0). The unit is about 18 months old and has been looked after very well. It is in top condition, although has some small scratches on the side due to being in between my turntables. I will post up some photos tonight, looking for around $550 for the unit, pick up from Castle Hill.
  12. i think it's better to have if you're a producer than a dj.
  13. i'll record tonight and upload my mix in the morning for sunday nights spot.
  14. so where is my pacemaker?
  15. haha wtf is with the downloads lol
  16. I prefer the feel of the platter compared to the denons, I can see the denons have a lot more features, but that doesn't bother me (I'm coming from vinyl, how little features can you get lol). It does what I need it to do, I just need to get used to cdj's. Yeah I only got 1.
  17.
  18. haha nah those boys rocked up b4 me, I was the tall dude in a grey cardy and black beanie... Those boys were munted as...rocked up straight from subbies friday and dumped again in front of us at 7.30 in the morning lol. At least I had entertainment for the morning instead of just waiting in the cold.
  19. haha dude i was there from 7.30 was the second in the door, and got the last cdj800mk2 demo unit.
  20. i wasn't at the sale long enough to watch it in detail, but I saw him setting it up and beggining the set or whatever, and it did look intruiging. but I'm slow at this technology thing, just got 1 cdj to add to my vinyl set up, don't think i'll be going "digital" for a while (yes I understand cd's are digital but you know what I mean lol).
  21. ended up getting the cdj-800 mk2 preferred the feel of the platter compared to the denons.
  22. ha my point exactly. i have alot more respect for poeple that have/still/can play on vinyl. there is more skill involved with beat matching on vinyl. Definitely... I don't care in the end, I love playing vinyl and that's all there is to it. I'll be buying a cdj soon but wont stop my vinyl purchases though. Plenty of vinyl is still being released daily so it's all good.
  23. I'll be making some purchases when i get my cdj (this week hopefully0 so music purchases next week (next pay check)
  24. you love stirring this up, DVS is recapturing some of the market dude...TT's aren't going anywhere for a while.
