  1. what do you use eggssell?
  2. hahaha who was the dj?
  3. in saying all this stuff i forgot to mention that if you have been a dj and you have learned to beatmatch properly and your confident on your decks then i dont see a huge problem with using your software everynow and then or autosync, just as long as you dont become reliant on it. The thing is this person has atleast learnt the fundamentals and has an understanding of what to do if autosync shits itself. its just annoying, think about it alot of people here put in alot of effort to learn to dj and mix properly. For some people it can take years, and were all still always learning new things and ways to make mixes or mashups sound awesome. But we all ultimately came from the same place, hence why we all respect each other on this forum. We all crawled, then we walked and now most of us can run. i just dun like the fact that autosync will skip the crawl stage because thats what it was and still is for people tedious and slow but how rewarding is it when you look back and realise that you are what you are today from years of experience. Were not what we are today because we bought cdj350's 1 hour ago from djwarehouse hahaha
  4. not saying these people dont have skill. just saying they're missing one of the fundamental skills. their was a day when your mixer had no EQ's just a crossfader so you had to have it beatmatched so that even the transition from deck A to B would sound half desent. Like johnny b said i dont think these people can call the, selves dj's maybe just as you say yourself a contollerist.
  5. i perceive a dj to be someone with some skill and doesn't rely on a computer program or autosync. fair enough use programs to manage your tracks like rekordbox, but not something that takes most of the skill out of djing
  6. i have known for a while now that the new pioneer cdj350 decks were coming out but only today did i bother having a quick read about them. And to my DISGUST! they have an autosync feature......how f'ing LAME. I understand they want to target the "beginner" market but fucking hell a big part if not the BIGGEST part of dj'ing is learning i repeat LEARNING to beat match. So great the DJ population in the world is going to go ten fold over night. then were going to have little wankers running around calling themselves dj's with their autosyncing cdj350's Kinda pisses me off. What are other peoples thoughts??
  7. i dont own one but by looking at a picture have you assigned your channels? as in turned the nob that says assign A to say ch1 then the other nob assign B to ch2? and make sure your mix and levels are right. Also im assuming that when your playing a song from say ch1 you know that to cue the other song (hear it in your headphones) you have to press that little button below the designated channel and a little light should turn on which means you can now hear both tracks in ya headphones.
  8. so im going to need to learn how to play a piano?? im fucked then hahaha Recommendations for piano to start? Could you effectively use it for remixes?
  9. wonder if i could set it up to just do what the mouse would do. cause i dunno if i'd use a keyboard much either.
  10. hey all. well im thinking of getting into production (more than likely trancy shit) now i am more than likely going to use ableton and i am looking at getting this controller just to start with as its inexpensive so if i decide to give up hahaha it wont matter too much. http://www.novationmusic.com/products/m ... /launchpad what we all think? will it do to start with?? then if i enjoy it which im sure i will then i will spend the $$$$$ cheers.
  11. me too, i'm curious as to how you had that perfect with an auto-loop + quantize on. On mine it always seems to drag just past the last beat and then skip back to the beginning again. Or did you tweak the loop? I've personally turned Quantize off and try and use the in/out whereever possible - apparently thats how real men do it i really dunno. it amazed me as well. the track had been analyzed though. if that made a difference i dunno. As for using in and outs when you have quantize function available.....dun see the point really. quantize was put in the 900's specifically for the purpose of perfect loops on the fly, so you'd be nuts not using it.
  12. just wanna say a few things about rekordbox. firstly it is good, categorises all your music and also analyses every track checking its BPM. As most people prob know it allows you to set up hot cues and cues and loops etc... i have used the cue feature a few times already and seems to transfer well over to the cdj. I have software version 1.2.3 which is the latest. Big difference is it actually lets you connect your laptop to your 900 or 2000 and just suck tracks off it. Making a playlist is very easy and makes life alot easier. For example i just listen to tracks and if i think they will mesh well together i just make a play list with them in it, in the order i wanna play then i put it on the usb stick and just load the playlist up on the 900. so instead of finding all your songs amongst thousands of others you just select your playlist. Like an ipod really. The PRO DJLINK feature is awesome. so i use just one stick between the 2 cdj's and the 2nd cdj just feeds off the usb stick in player 1. No dramas yet, not glitches or anything with the music coming from one deck to another... SLIP feature is good. for those who dunno what it is its actually keeps the track playing (muted) whilst you scratch and when you take pressure off the platter instead of starting from the intial scratch point it continues on from wherever the track is in realtime. i dun scratch but it can make even the shittest scratcher sound half desent. I haven't tested MIDI yet dunno when i will though, dun really use software. NOW the waveform which some people whinge about. IT AINT THAT BAD!! you can still easily identify highs and lows. Screen is nice, its simple and thats what makes it nice. Navigating your music is easy as shit. Their has been mention of the cd loading times. I have no problem with that, my cd's are loaded within about 3 seconds of sticking it in, i think this issue is more for those models with outdated firmware. The quantize fucntion is very very nice. you can create a perfect loop. i set a loop up, beatmatched it with another song and they stayed beatmatched four about 4 minutes (this was a test only) until i needed to nudge the jog wheel ever so slightly. Let you know more in the future.
  13. might wanna check the firmware version on those 900's. every cd i stick in so far is ready before i have a chance to blink. Latest version is 3.0 oh and embrace the nob hahahahahahahahahahahaha
  14. i see it in the way of how versatile you are. e.g. you start on software it beatmatches for you and you generally (use that term loosely) can do a half descent mix without having to concentrate so much on your tracks skipping out as the software keeps them perfectly aligned most of the time. Now with cd or vinyl you have to learn to beatmatch which takes time, sometimes months and months before you can put something together that doesn't sound like your trying to make some new weapon for the government that destroys peoples ears. But if you practise with vinyl or cd decks then like i said above you become alot more versatile. you can walk into a club and be confident in your beatmatching not relying on software to do it for you. The other thing is i have not seen many clubs embrace the computer dj software era yet and im sure they will at some stage but will prob be quite a while. Basically if you ever want to play in clubs get some decks and learn to beatmatch first. Look at it this way if you learn to drive on a automatic car (dj software) you generally will suck ass in a manual (vinyl or cd decks). But if you learn manual first (vinyl or cd decks) you will do fine on an auto (dj software). Cause anyone can drive an auto!!! hahaha
  15. Big con to a computer is it can crash. Has happened to paul van dyk. I've heard positive things about the hercules midi controllers. but if you got 4k go for something a little more classy like vestax. i'd recommend traktor pro for the software. then maybe move onto ableton for a bit more creativity. welcome by the way.
  16. yeah i will after the radio show airs
  17. hello everyone. After many hours of listening and countless entries the winner of the DJARMED mix competition has been decided. The winner will be announced on the next show which will be either the 24th or 25th of June. Stay tuned
  18. well here i was today awaiting eagerly to get my new cdj900's expecting them to turn up on my doorstep before lunchtime.....but no they arrived at 1655 hahahaha. Anyway i have had a bit of a play and mixed the first 5 songs that will be on my next set for the radio show and i tell ya what these decks are awesome!! i grabbed rekord box (which i had prior to getting cdj's) tranferred my playlist to my USB stick stuck it in linked the fuckers up with pro dj link and bam off i went. So far so good. Hopefully after a bit more of a play i will write a bit more. oh and the quantize function is AMAZING!!! SLIP mode is cool too.
  19. Hope you seize the spade and smash him with it.
  20. hahahahahaha i think me need to brush up on few grammar problem
  21. Thats what they're saying now (as in pioneer, dj mags and even most dj stores), i think it has alot to do with cost though. cdj1000's will still be around for years to come but the cdj900 is popping up at alot of clubs now. The cdj 2000 is just waaay tooo expensive and even pioneer admits that the features between the 2 are very similar minus a few things so dun see why the $1000 difference. Surely a colour LCD screen and a better platter and a few software mods dun cost $1000! But you know, what would we know were only the consumers.
  22. beat service and tucandeo feat manon polare-waiting for the sun (tydis stadium mix)
  23. coudln't see why you couldn't just place them all in the same folders they came out of
  24. Its true Pioneer do have the monopoly, but if a company like numark started becoming the club standard then the price of all their gear would go up dramatically. Got to remember as well that pioneer had the best pitch resoilution for years and years before things like the Denon dns3700 came out. i did some very long hours of research and playing on the cdj900, cdj2000 and dns3700 when i was looking to get some new decks and i found that the cdj900 is best value for money, and now the cdj900 is the club standard, so if you play in clubs or ever desire too its prob best to get the cdj900 purely so you dont rock up to your first gig and go WTF how do i work these bastards. The other thing is Pioneer put ALOT and i mean ALOT of money into R&D thats why they generally end up out on top. But these days other companies are getting closer to matching the cdj's so its only a matter of time until something different becomes the club standard or they become on par with pioneer. and YES they are a rip off and as CBG said its because they can be. They know people will pay the money for them.
  25. cool. yeah thats one of the reasons i got the cdj900's so i can use USB, makes alot more sense plus it has the pro link so i can just connect the players together and just drag all music off one USB device. was going to get the 2000's but thouhgt about it for a while and for what they are they aint worth 2.5k hahaha.
