says the guy who tells a poor dude who's trying to figure out how to route signals in ableton with his xone4D to "go to the website" big helps bro. but its all good. i got ya back. I explained to him ableton's audio I/O system and how it can be routed through the 4D while passing through a dedicated EFX channel and back through the FX2 return, which is exactly what he wanted to do.

oh dude get off your high horse. The method of DJing and medium its performed with has changed dramatically. You can stay in the dark ages and be one of those guys who validates himself by the weight of vinyl he carries to each gig. Or you can accept that things are different now. I'll give you my background so you know. Started out with CDJs - played those for 2.5 years. Used them in the club as well. Beatmatched manually and could handle a thousand strong crowd with no problems. Now I'm running a laptop with traktor pro, controlled by a Lemur and Xone 4D with Ableton live running in sync via MIDI clock. Does that make me any less of a DJ? No. Its a setup that works for me, and after years of playing and trying different things, I found something that suits my workflow. At the end of the day, the standard club crowd doesnt give a shit whether you're hitting the sync button or dusting off your next record and fine tuning that pitch fader. They just wanna get their drink on and dance. You say someone using a laptop isnt a dj what so ever, they're an entertainer. To me, i find that statement ridiculous. We all play music. We all keep that floor going and we all make sure the crowd loves the music. Who cares how its done. Now I'm not saying I support the 13 year old who downloads a cracked copy of VDJ and plays 3 gigs of torrented music with a mouse. I'm saying that as long as you support the fundamentals, such as reading the crowd, track selection, physical presence and mixing techniques, then theres no reason why Vinyl should be considered superior to a laptop. Hell, using Serato with timecode vinyl is there for the purists and it saves having to carry crates in each night. Who the hell made you the authority on what people should be using? Theres so many possibilities these days that everyone has their own ways of doing things. Rant over.

The above soundcard, also known as the MAYA 44, provides 8 outputs, which, when paired as stereo, provides 4 outputs for 4 decks within DJ software. The sound quality of this card is known to be passable, but better sonic quality can be achieved with higher end cards, such as the NI Audio 2/4/8 DJ and the MOTU Ultralite MKIII. However these are expensive and may not suit your needs. Keep in mind when choosing your equipment, that if you decide to use Serato as your primary software, then you will need to use the bundled soundcard. The software is unlocked with this device and will not function without it. You could also consider Serato Itch or Traktor Duo for digital DJing. now who said i couldnt give helpful advice?

its alot more relevant then any input youve seemed to add. all information is helpfull regardless weather you know it all or not, there is nothing wrong with refreshing the memory, all my informative, helpful, friendly advice is on another forum. you'd be suprised by the advice I give. i just come here to poke the bear. and occasionally help out. but only on tuesdays.

oh well there you go. that looks like it will do the job. At the end of the day, the most important factor is the audio quality.
-
well Korg is a brand. and Sound On Sound is a magazine. so that doesn't really help
-
Slapadoo! http://www.djwarehouse.com.au/studio-ge ... evice.html you start going any cheaper and you'll sacrifice audio quality.

barely any of that information is relevant.

I cant believe how cavalier some of you are being. people died. try and imagine the horror of falling down and having no chance of getting back up again. Love parade will never happen again because of this. The organisers have alot to answer for.

Might have to look in to that. I'm entering a comp up in Perth which is recognised as a serious career launcher for winners. May aswell have a crack at it.

Ya, but it doesnt help when you're playing at the premier club in the town every friday night, but receiving pretty much minimum wage. Luckily I have a weekday job. I need to find new venues. The current one's just not doing it for me.
