  1. woops, uploaded the wrong images. fixed on the OP. haha nope, I work my arse off to get paid well so I like to buy myself nice stuff
  2. It should all be arriving by the end of the week
  3. www.staticice.com.au Use that to search for parts or systems
  4. ID3 tag is basically metadata that's attached to a file. There are different versions of ID3 tag's as it's evolved over the years, each version as added\removed features to try and become the best it can be and it allows you to attach information that's searchable using a program that can read the data. Itunes seems to read all versions as apple keeps it up to date. If you use ID3 v2.4 only, Windows 7 wont read the data in windows explorer, but will read v2.3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ID3
  5. so to set each track so its playable and readable correctly? i've had issues with BPM before and didnt even think twice that you could fix it. Mixed In Key detects the BPM and put's it in the BPM tag on the file for programs like itunes to read as they dont do BPM detection. If you import the song into traktor or serato, they do their own BPM detection when you analyze the song. Personally I'd rely on Traktor\Serato more for accurate BPM readings, but using Mixed In Key allows you to create itunes smart playlists based on BPM so you can import the playlist into other programs.
  6. You'll need to sign up on the website you downloaded it from and it will email you a license for free
  7. yeah, its free for rekordbox compatabile pioneer cdjs (basically any new pioneer cdj with a network port) the cdjs come with the cd i thought it was free program regardless though The program is free, regardless of having a CDJ or not
  8. My structure: \DJ Archive (Tracks I dont want in my main library 24/7, but still want them incase I decide to play them, not imported into itunes) \DJ Import (any new track's go here first) \DJ Music (All 100% tagged tracks etc go here) BeatPortTrkNum - ArtistName,SecondArtist - TrackTitle (remix name).mp3 ArtistName, SecondArtist, ThirdArtist - TrackTitle (remix name).mp3 \DJ Staging Area (If I buy a compliation cd and I want to pick through it for songs before I import anything, I put them in here) \Music (All my other non-DJ music) Whenever I download a new track, it goes into the Import folder (esp when downloading multiple at once, saves having to remember what I downloaded if I put them straight into the main folder). Once in the Import folder I use Tag & Rename to write v2.3 and v3.4 tags and put in the year and genre. I then use Mixed in Key to add the key tag, then I drag the file(s) into the main folder and drag into itunes. Traktor, Rekordbox etc all pulls from itunes so it's easier to manage from there. This is my preference: ArtistName, SecondArtist, ThirdArtist - TrackTitle ArtistName = The artist who the song belongs to SecondArtist = Featuring artists etc TrackTitle = Track name with: (blah blah remix) if it's a remix
  9. http://pacemaker.net/ ebay, kosmic sound, storedj the company that makes them is bankrupt or something so dont expect much for warrenty or support. I got mine from ebay for $325 brand new.
  10. Couple of HP Microservers, turning them into 6TB NAS\HTPC for my place and the parents place. Keeping a backup of the music on the server incase something happens to my laptop and a dumping ground for music that I've yet to sort through and add to my library http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm ... 48009.html
  11. Been flat out over the last month with work so I haven't been on the forums, but I've aquired a few more things: Picked myself up a brand new Macbook Air yesterday (10% off + GST back when I go to Bali on Tuesday made it hard to resist) i7 1.8Gz, 4GB, 256GB RAM SSD Updated home setup: Portable setup for when I go travelling for work, I've mapped the X1 knobs to act as a mixer (gains, high\mids\low, cue vol etc) Trains\Planes\Automobiles setup
  12. how do they sound? Ditto for the question, seen them but wouldn't mind knowing how they go
  13. I own the pioneer 350 set and i'm currently borrowing the CDJ 2000's and 900NXS. My mate I borrowed the gear off reckons that you shouldn't need a Rane SL to use any of it with Serato Scratch Live. I'm running a Windows 7 laptop so that 'may' be the issue if that's true. Can anyone say yes/no to needing a Rane SL for Serato?
  14. Ahh, I like it, heading my mate's house who I borrowed this from to mess around dj'ing. He's got a 2000 mixer in his current setup, I prefer the 900 to be honest. Even though they seem to the be around the same price the 900 seems to be less complicated and better laid out.
  15. No idea, they are the CDJ 2000's and 900NXS starting to keep an eye out for a deal on the same setup so I get get some hopefully by the end of the year
  16. I wished I owned this gear, currently borrowing it from a mate. Put's my 350 set to shame

  21. Hey guys/girls, Found the forum through reading through a DJ thread on the OCAU forums I purchased some 350 CDJ's\mixer and traktor X1 a couple of months ago after spending a night at my mates house playing on his CDJ 2000's (Really thinking of upgrading to them soon). Got my mate to teach me a few things and went with him to watch a live set at a local nightclub, but apart from that I've just been searching through youtube videos, reading tutorials and practising. Currently using traktor but wanting to go pure deck\mixer with rekordbox or something to manage my library via USB\CD only as I dont like the idea of the pc stuffing up half way through (having issues with that now). Always had a keen interest in music but never played any instruments, used to mess around on my high school 'radio' at lunch times years ago, messing with songs but never did anything with it. Mainly listen to grunge\rock music but been slowly getting into dance over the past few years. Apparently I've got a semi-decent ear for it, just need to practise practise practise, no intention of doing gigs or anything at this stage, it's just some fun so I stop working so much and beats sitting on the couch watching boring TV Cheers, Dev
