CDJs are good. Beware of the DDM4000 though. It's ok, i used it for a while. In fact, as a beginner, you wont even be able to tell IMO. However, maybe look at the 2 channel Korg mixer or the Xone:22. The Korg has effects built in. The Xone has the world class engineering and circuitry of the 3D and 4D mixers, it has just been stripped down. But, yeah man, I reckon go for it. That package is good enough.

CDJ is pioneer's name for a CD player. DJM is their name for a mixer. You won't be able to get to CDJs and a DJM for $1000. In fact you won't be able to get anything for that much. Brand new anyway. If you wish to start mixing. Get Traktor and buy a MIDI contoller, to get you going. It will give the basics of mixing, it just wont teach you to beatmatch.

For the record, I don't understand the new iPad, it's just an overgrown iPod with a bigger CPU and screen. But if apps like this become more common, it will open up doors for mobile production, which is what I hoped it could do. Imagine a handheld MAC, running Live 8 or Logic? Anyways, here's the review:
