Chris Gould - Musical Bliss Kiss (teaser) NEED FEEDBACK
CBG replied to CBG's topic in Trance & Progressive
Bassline comes in at 0:30 bro. It's missing a lot of automation, rolls and fine tuning... ohh and like everything else lol> The first 1:15 is really whats closest to being complete -
This one could be heading to the scrap heap soon, just not feeling it. Allthough I have been at it for a while and probably need a rest. *Sigh* http://soundcloud.com/chris-gould/music ... mix-teaser Musical Bliss Kiss remix teaser by Chris Gould

I may have to have a crack at this remix. -
Yeah but you need the two tracks for the different waveforms. Yeah?
-
Ok. This one is a goodie. Phase: Phase is a term used to describe the position of one sound wave relative to another sound wave, Two identical waves are 'in-phase' when the crests and troughs of the waves meet and are 'out-of-phase' when the crests of one wave meets the trough of another wave. Phase is a good thing, when a frequency group is perfectly out of phase, there will be no sound, because the speaker is trying to push out for one sound, will simultaneously trying to pull in. Yeah? As you can see, these three waveforms are out of phase, and the speaker is gunna be working overtime to process this, likewise the needle on a turntable. Vinyls must be in phase to insure the needle doesn't jump out So... to avoid this, don't worry about higher freq too much. Lower is the concern. If you have a bassline and a kick together. Upon up a Utility, a utility lowers and heightens the gain on the selected track. Automate the Utility (ableton) to drop the gain off the Sub-Bass bassline, when the bass notes fall on the same beat as the kick. This ensures the the sub woofer is able to process a phased waveform. I'll put up screenshot if people want.

Tip for bassline: Duplicate the midi notes, have one has a sawtooth waveform, or square or whatever and EQ higher. Have the other as a Sine waveform, EQ it lower.

If you want to widen your synth: load up a Filter delay on the hi freq track (providing you are layering). 1. Select, L and R not L+R. 2. Bring the Frequency up on each side so it doesn’t filter any the sound. 3. Then bring down the time manually to 1-15ms perhaps. 4. Have a different number for each side. This will widen the sound dramatically. You made need to lower the gain though cus it will really jump out of the mix otherwise.

Post your tips and hints for production here, hopefully this thread can be regularly updated. Don't be afraid to share your wisdom, give and reveive, and give rep. Remember to make sure you state what program your advice applies to, if any. Post your tips in BOLD, so to keep browsing through easier This thread has the potential to be massive

Hey man, super jealous of your set up, Il be able to afford that when I get signed . I'm the biggest Deadmau5 fan here, so you'll have to take 2nd spot . Loved his set as Stereo as well, laughed at the dickheads who thought he was boring, they demanded he play less commercial, which he did, and he gets burnt for it.

I'll sumbit 5-10 in the next month or so. Got a heap lined up today, including Rudy (the singer in those SHM songs 'Let it go' etc), T-Rek and some others.

Timecode CD/Vinyl acts as a controlling device for the software on the pc. I.e you spin the platter back on the turntable, then the song will scroll back on the pc.

nah, I was saying that THEY were pretty keen. I dont have a yrs xp in Pro Tools. It's used more for recording analogue AUX, which I never use. One day maybe, when I buy my own custom made modular synth 'pew pew pew!!!'

Any mixer will work with traktor, if you have the hardware. The timecode cds will sit in the CD players.

this will definetily rival the Xone 4D. I still go the Xone though. That 2000's touch screen looks great especially the full eq, except the latency on it looks terrible and there is no way any DJ would use those trigger pads. Definetily a step frwd in catching A&H and they will most likely sell a shitload to idiotic club owners and DJs who only or have to buy pioneer. But in terms of a midi/stereo mixers, A&H has it for now. Pioneers built in EFX unit is a big win though.
