^^^Cheers Chris I can get the link on my phone (iphone 3/fell off a dinosaur) but once it is loaded it always opens a media player which I cannot save as a bookmark. I can only save the URL in a note and then copy/paste it into the browser each time. Not very easy to do while driving. Any ideas how I can make it easier?

only ever listen to radio in car or while in chat and not sure how to tune adjf while in car.

man you been busy eggs! I havent been spotting these, dunno why. Will give 'em listen from the desk sometime on the week. My pick for a roller skating jam called saturday Joe Driscoll. He's playing tonight for us at our crew venue and I'm doing a warm-up set. He's a beatbox/rapper/guitarist who uses a loop recorder foot pedal so he samples himself on the fly to build up every song live. I think he puts a little more homework into his album releases but live it's amazing to watch and hear and he knows how to make a room bounce. So why wouldnt I be offering him propz tonite. I havent actually checked this vid I'm posting, i know this is a top tune though. old skool sentiment with a lovey dubby theme. Think most DJs would get what he is talking about here:

^fair play, never seen daft punk live, only heard them in the distance at glasto '97. But seen prodigy from very close up and they rocked my world. "No good" is truly a milestone -
seen on numarks facebook page.

Kraftwerk were the bomb for me as a kid and daft punk never did it for me (I was always wishing for the early 90's when daft punk came along). BUT: i think they paid homage to kraftwerk rather than copied them. There can be no doubt daft punk are huge players in the scene, and that you need a new cousin. but also yes, prodigy are better. -
I think the question is: for those who actually release, and register for royalty collection, does the income they receive amount to enough to make it worthwhile? It is a bloody good question too DRc1.

^nice one boss.

Cheers Scottie, no worries man, you've already been mad help Anyone else: Next time I'm coming online will but Tuesday at 7.30pm gold coast time.

i think i have to disagree on this one no, it doesnt mean money in the bank from royalties but the more of a following the artists have, the more they get paid per gig ^ just seen this. u r of course right mattus mate, but this thread is just about royalty collection, hence my comment. comment should have read: "success in listeners and FB likes does not mean money earnt from selling records and collecting royalties. It may mean still make you a few dolla but"

s'all good guys, but.... if you moderators really want to help: what times and days are these boards busiest I can plan from that.
-
aha! some feedback, cheers boss. I thought I timed it pretty well considering... I have to weigh up what I'm doing with two different timezones (W.A. and N.S.W.) But...if timing is the problem then any interested users please reply to this post with where you are and what day/time would be the ideal for you. I'll try sort summat.

fail. forevalone.jpeg Fark you ADJF, I'm a go cry on facebook.

Same as produb. In essence they are trying to make legal something that previously wasnt covered by law. But they have added a tax to it too. No surprises there.
-
Bump. I'll be set up and online in 2 hours if anyone is upforit. Even if you cant get your decks set up but are willing to just listen and feedback on how my decks sound via skype that would be useful. and yes, if no one comes online I will get overit.

again, i can only tell you what the uk does. Here venues pay different tariffs depending on how many customers they have, i.e. how big their room is and how many nights a week they are open. DJs who do events in unlicensed venues (eg my teaching sessions at wherever I end up) pay for a license after negotiation with the governing body (PPL in this country). I calculated how many sessions I do per year and the average number of kids at each then included how many songs I played (as I'm teaching we use the same songs lots of time to get the info across). They had never done licenses for someone doing it like this but we came to an agreement. Then they added the produb license - which assumes you are already paying (as venue or DJ) for how many listeners you are playing to, and so only tries to cover you for how many of those tracks are digital copies as these weren't included in the legal definitions previously. Fark nose if GEMA is trying to do it similar. But at the end of the day - I agree with royalty distribution, for what it's worth these days, and the people I have spoken to in the offices at PPL have always been really cool, really into music, and really willing to find a middle ground for each individual license I have needed. Not at all like a govt dept or corporation.

hmmmm. It's not me buying, one of my employers wants to update their equipment in the new year. 2000s def not an option. 850's look like winning for their purposes. Cheers Mitch As usual I'll do a review of whatever I get given to use... Dont hold yer breath tho, the employer is a govt dept and so plans take a long time between concept and realisation. thanks all.

^ this is what i'm most interested in. The cdj 800 platter was vastly inferior to the cdj 1000. Is it the same difference between 850 and 900?
-
Anyone got the detailed lowdown on what the differences are between these two? I've seen a few differences mentioned but could do with more info. Links to comparison sites will be fine.

To get the best from skype/webinar: Register, get username, send overit username, overit will connect with you (you will receive a request from skype to connect with "djimbluefoot"). Accept request to connect. Set up your dj decks so your mixer output is feeding into your line in on your computer. Hook a mic into your mixer so we can hear you. Hook your computer audio out into a spare channel on your dj mixer so you can listen back. If you dont have a spare channel on your dj mixer possibly hook your computer audio out str8 into your speakers and use your dj mixer in headphones only. I have no idea what kit you all use but I hope you can set it up so you can hear and be heard. eg: I have been using my NS6 controller and my set up is as follows: NS6 via usb to run DVS. In skype preferences the NS6 was recognised as an audio option and so all i had to do was select it as my microphone to hear it via skype. I could also select it as my skype speakers but found I didnt get the best quality from this. So I stuck with internal speakers on the skype preferences and fed a line out from my Mac into a spare channel on my NS6. I also fed a mic into my NS6. This worked nice when I tested with Scottie and he could hear my audio and mic. If you are having problems please still get involved. Even if half the session is spent working out how best to hook you up that is time well spent in my eyes. The biggest issue is hopefully going to be bandwidth and the audio cutting in/out as more users play audio. But this remains to be seen. Finally, if all is working well, and if we can all hear and see each other - have some questions ready for open discussion/demonstration. I may not be the tightest mixer in the world but I have been earning a living from this game for 20 years. I got a lot of info to share if you ask the right q's. Thanks in advance for any1 who makes the effort.

ez all, some of you know about this, some might not. Basically I am in the U.K. trying to set up a way I can teach dj skills online to people worldwide in remote communities or who just don't live anywhere near any other DJs. For now I am still trying to work out if it is possible using skype for free. Ideally I will make this a business, but for the ADJF community I plan to offer free sessions where we can just chat shit, jam tunes and learn from each other. We all got skills to share innit. While I am testing all sessions will definitely be free. SO: Next chance I get to test this will be thurs 6th dec (tommorrow). I will be online at 10am U.K. it will be 6pm W.A. and 9pm N.S.W. if you will be around and if you have a SKYPE username then PM the username to me or post below pls. if you want to be involved but aren't a skype user yet then register on skype and PM or post the username below. Skype is free. Below this is my instructions as to how to set up so we all get the best from this, and so we test if we can really jam or not. Cheers.
