cheers man, he's a busy man, if he sees this I if he doesnt I aint gonna trouble him... instead I scoured his page and found this: "Due to Facebook's new policy, only about 10% of people that 'Like' a fan page will see the status updates. In order to see my posts and notifications, go to Streetcleaner, click/hover over the 'Liked' button (beneath the cover photo, to the right) and activate the 'Show in News Feed', option. This will allow you to see all of the posts. Your support will be greatly appreciated !!! Thank you !!!" which is good. but the jpeg it came with is now a broken link. anyone got a link for the nice and tidy jpeg that says all this ish?

ez a while back lots of Facebook page users were posting a little .jpeg/meme which explained how "likers" had to- hover over the like button and click on "show notifications" and "show in news feed". this ensured page "likers: actually saw posts made by page users. I need to tell my users to do this now. Does anyone have a link to the jpeg i mean? Was a simple way of getting the msg across.

yer lloyd. as I think you know: i'm not the type to go pirating software or music, but as my mate and I both have bought the software, and as NI set the precedent by having the timecode available to DL in the past, I'm a bit annoyed they don't still have the DL available. I can understand why they charge for vinyl but Timecode.wav? really NI? Especially: why change now when it used to be free? NI wasting valuable adjf user time making us use google and fuss threads. anyway, I did have backups hidden deep on an external drive, problem solved now

Troubleshooting an issue with my kit I found this article and thought i'd share, especially as it relates to users with iphones and macs: Mac notebooks: Magnets in devices may cause computer to sleep unexpectedly Symptoms Placing a device that contains a magnet (such as an iPhone) under your computer or on its palm rests can cause the computer to sleep unexpectedly. This can also appear to cause the computer to have difficulties starting up. Resolution Computers that may have this behavior include: MacBook (Late 2009 and later) MacBook Air (2008 and later) MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008) MacBook pro (15-inch, late 2008 and later) MacBook pro (17-inch, late 2008 and later) MacBook Pro (Retina models) This can occur due to: Stacking computers. This can result in the top computer going to sleep before it's completely started up. For best results, do not stack computers. Placing an iPhone or another magnetic device on top of a computer's palm rest. For best results, do not place devices with magnets on your computer. Placing an iPad on the computer's palm rest since certain iPad cases also contain magnets. This is expected behavior. Automatic sleep operation depends on magnets. A switch in the MacBook Pro body, known as a Hall Effect switch, is normally activated when a magnet in the display gets close to it when you close the computer. When stacked, the magnet in the bottom computer may activate the magnetic switch in the top computer. Likewise, the speakers in an iPhone contain magnets which can trigger the sleep function. source: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2917?view ... Cupe=en_US

Do people prefer vocal or instrumental edits of tracks?
overit replied to MintyCondition's topic in DJ Headquarters
if in doubt get both. Use whatever suits the moment best. If you have both you can play both simultaneously and try clever tricks like playing the vocal for it's chorus but using the instrumental instead of playing verses, and vice versa and on and on and on... You are the DJ, you choose what sounds good. -
aye faderstart. only works between pioneer gear i think does nothing for vinyl decks pretty big waste of time

^ I kind of agree but would wait until the latest serato DJ roll out has finished to really get the lowdown on bugs etc and which is really best. but if we all always waited until the next product roll out we would never buy anything...

How do I work the microphone on a DJM800
overit replied to odysseyhouse's topic in Mixers & Controllers
a tip: notice the mic (control in purple on mitches picture) has "on" and "off" but also has "talk over" position. The talk over feature is actually pretty brutal and i always find it better to use it in "on" position and adjust my volume levels to achieve the best sound. Cut some low/bass on the mic eq (in blue on mitches picture) to avoid your voice clashing with the tunes. -
Cheers Mitch. was exactly where I was looking but they not there. seems weird but anyway... plan B, as you so rightly said

ahk... I have an account. I have traktor scratch pro, traktor LE and traktor 2.5. Where do I find the timecode DL though?

As you havent been a club rat during your teens like most wannabes... U need to lrn what clubs are about 1st. Go out every night all the time to all the clubs and watch all the crowds while listening to all the DJ. (no room in this post for allthetings.jpeg) Learn when it is easy because the crowd are in the mood, learn when it is hard coz everyone is bored/grumpy. Watch other DJs success/failure rates under both circumstances. Try and gain an understanding of what effects the DJ had on the situation each time. Learn what it means for people to be high, how they get high and how they behave when they are. You dont have to get high to learn this, but it might help every once in a while. Then plan which type of clubs and which genres you really want to work with: Then:

my 2c: Early on is often when people are not smashed enough to get down properly to real EDM so stick to stuff with grooves people know or even lyrics they can sing-a-long with. This helps them feel comfortable enough to break the ice on the dancefloor, which is the job you have to do. Also: Imagine you had the main set and think of all the bangers you would want to drop if things went exactly your way... then don't play them in your warm up slot. If you do a good job as warmup you should get the chance to tear it apart sometime soon. Garts for the gig man.

Controllers are still considered the new kid on the block as far as DJ eqpt goes. But for beginners they really are a cost effective entry point, plus for people who already collect music digitally they utilise your existing media library so dont involve heaps of burning CDs, printing tracklists, or vinyl collecting. I teach DJ skills in the UK and generally point students at controllers these days. If you wanted to DJ in clubs you would want to know your way round the pioneer CDJ players, if you want to be a true turntablist you would have to chose vinyl. But these days with software and controllers being so reliable I personally think they are a good entry point for everyone who doesnt have any other deciding factor. The wego is a steady controller for the money. Traktor S2 and Pioneer Ergo are only a few dollars more. Essential tip: as mentioned by someone already be sure your computer can handle the software. Also be prepared: you may have to lrn how 2 optimise your computer for audio by disabling internet and other background tasks. Useful tip: When you buy a controller you get a light version of DJ software. Researching which software you get is as important as researching which controller you buy. Paying to upgrade the software can open up more DJ opportunities than paying for a more expensive controller, especially if you are happy to get involved mapping your controller functions personally.

About me and some dj questions (the basics)
overit replied to startingdj's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
For learning to mix most people find straight dance music the easiest to get started with. If you have several songs all of which have a kickdrum on every beat of the bar and not too much other complication in the rhythm you can hear easier if the beats are matched well. f the songs you learn with also have the standard dance song 32 beat intro before the song drops then you can really get the basics learnt quickly. apart from that, as the lads above said, choose what you like if you want to enjoy it or choose the top 10 on beatport if you want to be popular. Just remember this - at the moment their are hundreds of slim shadies just like you learning the same thing with the same idea in mind. So competition is high for chart/club DJs. Competition for creative/individual DJs is the same as it always as been. -
s2 is safe ay. bet you get into press pressing soon enough tho. Those traktor remix decks are too much fun.

yer agreed. itunes hasnt really changed. It's just that with that latest update they hid the sidebar (which I never knew I could hide) but they didnt tell us. So I thought they had massively changed the GUI without any warning. The sidebar is the most important element of itunes as it allows me to drag and drop a new song into multiple playlists with no fuss. It took Mitch to show me how to put the sidebar back. Now all is well again. I just dont see why they changed my preferences with an update - freaked me out a bit.

^worx well. Still can't believe they would hide something so important as part of an update. Whales.
