The Brig is dropping his Drunken Master EP on Firepower Records this Friday, but not before we at Your EDM have the chance to share one of our favorite tracks off the EP, “High Noon.” The only bass house tune on the EP, “High Noon” stands out with some fresh electric guitar plucks in the beginning accentuated by some classic hip hop beats. Sure enough, the track suddenly takes a sharp turn and breaks into some unique and poppy bass house that is entirely on brand for The Brig. A self-described Russian electro-Swashbuckler supremo, “High Noon” is a fine example of why we first fell in love with his sounds in the first place. Drunken Master is out this Friday, get it here! Pasquale Rotella may be the shining light behind all of Insomniac’s best events around the world, but not all that glitters is gold. Today, Rotella announced via social media that he and his wife of nearly five years, former The Girls Next Door actress Holly Madison, were separating. “It is with love in our hearts and a deep respect for one another that Holly and I have amicably made the decision to separate,” writes Rotella. “First and foremost, we are forever partners and parents to two beautiful children, and are fully committed to raising them in an environment filled with love and positivity.” Rotella and Madison have two children together, Rainbow Aurora and Forest Leonardo, five and two years old respectively. The divorce was initially filed by Madison on August 31 in Las Vegas; Rotella says “it was not a decision we made hastily or take lightly.” The two will continue to co-parent their two children as they “welcome this next chapter in our relationship, and have every confidence that the future will bring only the best for us and our kids.” See Pasquale’s full statement below. With FuntCase’s DPMO Vol 2 out this Friday, you’d think that the releases would slow down… not. This is FuntCase we’re talking about, after all. We’re back with the final single before the compilation drops tomorrow, featuring this monster collaboration between FuntCase himself and Wooli, featuring Clipson, “Man Don’t Want War.” The grime vocals firmly ground the single in FuntCase’s south England upbringing, while Wooli adds his own wonky elements to the mix with terrifying bass and percussion. With each subsequent sequence in the track, the intensity grows more and more ferocious and unwieldy, making this one a true dance floor destroyer. Check out “Man Don’t Want War” below – officially out tomorrow – and look forward to the full DPMO Vol 2 out on Friday! This article was first published on Your EDM. SLANDER and RIOT just blew us away with their brand new collaboration “You Don’t Even Know Me,” out now via Monstercat. This release marks the leading single from SLANDER’s forthcoming 4-track EP, The Headbangers Ball expected in November. “You Don’t Even Know Me” starts out soft and subtle, rocking a melodic atmosphere that seems far from an intimidating bass track. But, anyone who knows SLANDER and RIOT knows how hard these duos can go. Intensity builds and the second drop unleashes absolute madness for an overall bittersweet result. From vocal-driven bass ballad to a powerhouse banger, this track is the best of both worlds. For some, it might be the gateway to heavier stuff — and for true bass heads, this is a nice change up that packs massive feels. Listen to “You Don’t Even Know Me” right here. Be sure to keep an ear out as these two talented duos continue to blaze their own trails to stardom! It’s been six months since Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and while Insomniac just released their teaser trailer for EDC Las Vegas 2019, Ultra just today dropped its official aftermovie for 2018. This year, of course, featured the incredible reunion of Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Steve Angello as Swedish House Mafia, as well as headlining performances by The Chainsmokers and Axwell Λ Ingrosso (as a duo). The 14-minute aftermovie features many of the major moments of the festival soundtracked by some of its biggest artists, which will either you give you intense FOMO for next year or give you flashbacks from this past year. Progressing from day to night, the crowds get bigger and the lights get brighter. The climax of the video of course features Swedish House Mafia’s first performance in five years, returning to the city from which they said goodbye. Watch it all below. You can try all you like, but sometimes things go awry. This weekend at Life Is Beautiful, as Odesza was closing out the Bacardi #Soundofrum Stage on Sunday night, an errant firework shot into the crowd, injuring two attendees. From TMZ: Law enforcement sources tell TMZ one of the pyrotechnics fell over when the firework unit malfunctioned, causing a spark to shoot out. Two people in the crowd suffered minor injuries — one person hit in the stomach and the other in the eye. They were both treated on scene. Fireworks are supposed to be those “ooh” and “aah” moments, rather than the alternative, more horrified screaming versions “ahh!” and “ohh!” Thankfully, both attendees are okay, albeit a little worse for wear. Watch the moment happen below. Dude, one of the fireworks went into the crowd during Odesza’s set That shit was terrifying, I hope the people that were in that area are okay. Undoubtedly one of the most chilling releases to come out of this season recently dropped in the form of the Blood Moon EP. This joint release presented by LICK, ZABO, Social Kid, No Etiquette, KRILLA, SWARM and Voliik takes a menacing approach to midtempo whilst showcasing each artist’s unique breed of music. Leading the way, LICK has instinctively assembled seven extremely talented producers that carry a similarity to that of the dark and industrial characteristics congruent to his own brand. As a result, seven bass heavy tracks are among the Blood Moon collection, each more soul piercing than the next. LICK starts things off right with a haunting production that finds overcoming beauty in the darkness. “Over” is fully satisfying in itself, but the heavy track is only just the beginning. Moving right along, ZABO’s “Schizophrenia” may give off distorted thoughts and hallucinations, which are best to be embraced. Next up, Social Kid creates a distinct utopia, or should we say dystopia with “Crystal Satellite.” No Etiquette’s “Traveler” takes us places we’ve never been, with its insane, scream-worthy soundscape. KRILLA doesn’t let up as “Malice” sets in, making its sick, twisted intentions known. SWARM’s “Breathe” hits with low vibrations and high intensity. And, last but not least, Voliik rounds off the release with a climactic “Eclipse.” Before we give too much away, experience the Blood Moon EP and all its thrills right here. This release will surely take us through Halloween and beyond, so save it on all platforms below. Alison Wonderland and Dillon Francis just announced some very exciting news! They’re expecting… a collab! This has to be the best collaboration announcement of all time. That look of sheer joy on Dillon’s face, and Alison’s affectionate pose, all the way down to their unsubtle hint of a “baby bump.” The fact that these producers are so comfortable with each other means in the studio they can make some serious magic. “@dillonfrancis and I are expecting!!!! (a collab)” @alisonwonderland shared via Instagram. No further details — like, whether it’s a boy or a girl — are known at this time. We couldn’t be happier for the two collaborators. Maybe you already know your ancestry, exactly where you came from. Your heritage beyond your immediate family tree. Or, maybe you’ve been wondering. Either way, just as fascinating of a question is — What did they listen to? Now, Ancestry is teaming up with Spotify to curate playlists based on users’ DNA. Anyone who has submitted an at-home DNA test to Ancestry can link to the music streaming service to hear the sounds of their ethnic descent. Not only will Spotify include songs that were popular or culturally significant, but the algorithm will take into consideration your own tastes. Based on your listening habits and selects from your ancestral homelands, you’ll be able to discover music like never before. The whole goal behind these playlists is to “encourage [Ancestry’s] audience to explore the soundtrack of their heritage.” Ancestry Executive Vice president and Chief Marketing Officer Vineet Mehra made a statement following the launch of Spotify’s new feature. “It’s so much more than the stats and the data and the record. How do we help people experience their culture and not just read about it? Music seemed like an obvious way to do that.” It should be pointed out — If you’re at all skeptical about data privacy, perhaps handing over your DNA makeup isn’t the route you want to take. It’s been a huge year for California trap-meets-chillwave duo Hippie Sabotage. They toured across Europe in the spring for their Path of Righteousness tour and they hit the festival circuit with a vengeance this summer, making appearances at Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and HARD Summer. Later this month, brothers Kevin and Jeff Saurer will hit the road to take on some much smaller venues. Hippie Sabotage will embark on their Lost California tour later this month and we got the chance to talk with the duo about a variety of topics leading up to this special set of tour dates. While L.A. and San Francisco get most of the attention, places like Chico, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz also have their own unique charm. The Lost California tour seeks to highlight those venues that are hidden gems in the nation’s most populous state. As a California native myself, I have a deep appreciation for some of those hidden spots along California’s coast. The Santa Barbara stop promises to be a highlight as the brothers will be joined by Juice WRLD and Yung Pinch. The guys have also added a small slate of holiday shows in December as well. Check out our interview with Kevin and Jeff below as the brothers talked touring, making new music, and growing up in California. It’s been a very busy summer for you guys, tell us about the tour stops and festivals like Lollapalooza and HARD Summer? What was that like with all those different and diverse crowds? Kevin: “Honestly, it was my favorite festival season that we’ve done thus far. It felt like the energy was pretty next level for us all summer. So, in terms of momentum and, just energy we’ve been getting back from the people, I feel fantastic about it. Jeff: “Yeah, time goes so fast, but you do so many things when you’re on the road, and you learn so many new things about performing. Like Kevin said, this year has been the most satisfying as far as really, like taking our critiques and things we were critical about and could change and putting it out there” I want to ask you guys about HARD Summer. The day you guys performed, it was unofficially the Soundcloud rapper stage. Tell me a little about what that was like, what the crowd was like? Kevin: “Honestly, it was exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately, Trippie Redd was supposed to headline, but Sheck Wes stepped in at the last moment, and that dude’s fuckin’ sick. So the fact that we went right before him, and we were chillin’ afterwards, we got to see his set, for me that was great!” Jeff: “We love Soundcloud rap, it’s all young kids, the crowds. Wherever the young kids go and want to have the biggest parties, we love performing, so the Purple Stage was perfect for us.” You guys put out a few songs over the summer, an original called ‘Coffee’ and flips of Billie Eilish & Khalid’s ‘Lovely’ and Herizen’s ‘Social Jungle.’ The vibe is very chilled out, what was the process behind those songs, what were you trying to put forth. Kevin: “For the Billie Eilish one ‘Lovely,’ I think we were just like, damn, that’s a really beautiful song, let’s put our own spin on it, we had been sitting on that one for a while. And then for the Herizen flip that we did, I think that when they sent us the original record, we loved it, and we felt like the flip we did, the two beats went well together. So, we wanted to put them out within close proximity, so people could get that same listening experience that we were personally getting of the songs back to back. And then, as far as ‘Coffee,’ Jeff was like check out this amazing guitar beat I just made in two-and-a-half hours. And I was like, man, this is great, let’s put this on the internet, and that’s what we did.” Jeff: “It’s so sporadic. The way we think about is like every single day we’re like stressing, we’ve got to make the best song ever. But in reality, out of like 365 days, you put out 10-15 songs, if even. And then we put out two in a week, and none in two months. We’re trying to build up a library where we can be more consistent with it.” I’ve heard you guys go super hard in your live sets, but you also have live guitar and vocals, how do you find a way to blend those chilled out vibes with a heavy hitting, high energy live show? Kevin: “I think we’ve found a happy medium finally. When we got back from Europe, playing more intimate environments on a regular basis, it really improved, even just our body language. In a more intimate environment you learn when to interact with the audience, when not to, when to let, just the beats make the vibe of the evening. I think that’s what we’ve been trying to work on as much as possible, not over-talking and just letting the show progress forward nicely.” Jeff: “And we like the sets to be wavy. I like going hard, but when we’re chilling, we’re completely chilling. I’m like in the guitar jam just sitting there, and when we’re hard, Kevin’s like screaming on the mic. But you can’t go hard, that crazy, for 60 minutes, we try to do like 10-15 min, go hard, chill it out for a little bit, and then come back.” Tell me a little about your upbringing here in California, what are some of your favorite places, what has brought you back here to L.A.? Kevin: “We were born and raised in Sacramento. Jeff went to school in San Diego, and I lived in San Diego for a time. I lived in Reno, while I was working a job, for a time. I lived all up and down the state at different points after I got back from school at Arizona State. So I think that really just influenced us overall. And being absolute, die-hard San Francisco Giants fans. We would go to San Francisco all the time on weekends, day trips. I think it just kind of shaped who we are. I definitely think going to Giants games is one of my favorite things to do in California, whether it was Candlestick or the new park.” So when you guys were growing up together, what was the point you guys got started making music together, and you realized you both wanted to pursue music as a career? Kevin: “I think there’s been various phases, because we’ve been doing it so long. And it started off as something we thought was cool, and we obviously still think it’s amazing, and then we became obsessed with it. And then you go through different phases, like Jeff went to music school, so that took it up another notch. I was finishing up at ASU, and once I graduated, that took it up another notch. So it just kind of escalated over time as we became more and more serious about the thing that we had consistently done for fun for so many years.” Were your parents encouraging of you guys pursuing a music career or were they skeptical at first? Jeff: “They helped us get into and were encouraging in the beginning. As a career path? That took a minute. But, after we went through it on our own and did everything, now they love it.” Kevin: “Once they saw a show and a sold out crowd, like, it really clicked in their heads, so it makes perfect sense to them now, so it’s great to see.” How do you achieve a balance between putting in the work and finding to time to chill or go to a baseball game or do a fantasy football draft? Kevin: “We’re pretty obsessive, I’m not going to lie, so we’re pretty terrible at work life balance.” Jeff: “It’s hard, once your there you gotta keep it going, and music is such a quick thing. You’re come and gone so quickly, you really have to keep people’s attention so you gotta keep working.” So once you guys had broken through, what was the thing that motivated you to keep it going? Kevin: “I think we always conceived of Hippie Sabotage as like a continuous art project that could go anywhere it needed to, so I don’t really think of it as like a beginning and an end. I just want to contribute more ideas to this thing that we’ve created and I would like to have people have the chance to listen to it and to see what their thoughts are. Curiosity keeps me going, I’m really just curious.” Jeff: “Hell yeah, likewise.” Kevin: “We have an audience, we make beats all the time, I really want to know what the people think, good, bad, up, down, whatever.” Do you find that producing comes naturally and you have a knack for it, or do you ever encounter writer’s block and aren’t sure what to do with a track? Jeff: “We make stuff all the time, we definitely overthink shit, like way too much” Kevin: “We argue about trivial details I think probably too much, that people don’t necessarily even hear in the final product. But it’s all just for the improvement of what we’re trying to present. I think our biggest problem is being overly critical…like Jeff said, we just try to stay creative, stay writing, and if we feel the spirit that morning, then something’s going on.” Jeff: “And it’s what you like doin. It’s like if you play a sport, you want to play with the pros, you want to play with everybody else. So when you hear new music that inspires you, that’s what keeps you going, you want to stay in the game really.” Tell us about the concept of the upcoming Lost California tour, what can the fans expect to see, what’s new and different? Jeff: “We’ve got a bunch of new visuals, some more new music we’ve added from the Path of Righteousness tour and the Europe shows and festivals since then. And really the basis of it is, since we’re from California and we’ve always played San Francisco, L.A., San Diego, the bigger cities, we really wanted to hit all the hidden cities we’ve been to. That not many people get to play. Kevin: “Especially being able to do Sacramento and doing a hometown show, at least once a year. It was important.” There’s also going to be another tour in the Spring? Kevin: “We love touring. We’ve really hit a groove, I feel like, over the last year in terms of our show, and just being able to work on it and do cool things musically that keeps us both entertained…You learn so much with each tour, just in terms of learning what you want to do with the show you’re presenting…each tour we’ve been able to rehearse more and more and more, go even deeper into the visuals, and how the visuals match the music and the overall ambience of the evening. I think it’s going to be dope.” In all your experiences touring, do you have a favorite place to visit? Jeff: “We like Amsterdam” Kevin: “I really like New Orleans, just fun people, and every time we’ve gone there, it’s just been a fun time.” What was the place you were most surprised to visit? Kevin: “Missoula, Montana. So dope, coming back on the unnamed spring tour.” Jeff: “It was like a Tuesday, in a snow storm, it was cool. Eugene, Oregon too, we did a little 700-person show in a room like this, there was like five people on top of each other at all times.” What’s your favorite L.A. habits? Kevin: “Postmates nice food. It’s terrible, I know.” Jeff: “We moved in and got an XBox from Postmates before.” Kevin: “This was in the early days of Postmates, I don’t know if they’ve updated.” What advice do you have for upcoming producers? Kevin: “I would say use YouTube as your platform, make beats all the time, and enjoy the process of life.” Jeff: “Yeah, just don’t stop, keep making music. Live-streaming, visuals and music together, work towards that.” Get your tickets to see Hippie Sabotage on their Lost California tour here and make sure to check out their latest tracks below. Marshmello just let us in on a huge new forthcoming collaboration with Amr Diab and both fanbases are beyond hyped about it! When you pair one of EDM’s finest with the best-selling Middle Eastern artist, it’s bound to be a hit. But, don’t expect a banger. Mello describes the unreleased track as more of a “love story” than a “turn up song,” so it will be a nice change up. Days ago Marshmello tweeted out “Habibiiii” without any sort of explanation. Now it seems that’s the title of the collab, which translates from Arabic to English as “my love” or “my dear.” Makes sense for a love song. Now, the producer has officially confirmed the track and says it’s one of his favorites yet. This cultural blend is sure to be an ear-pleasing mixture. We can’t wait to hear what this sounds like! Drake unexpectedly postponed two Miami shows this week and now it’s been learned it was due to illness. With short notice, the Scorpion king’s Friday and Saturday night concerts at American Airlines Arena were put off due to what the venue described as “circumstances out of our control.” It was rumored there was in issue with production, but now Drake wants to set the record straight. In a revealing post on his personal Instagram, the rapper details what exactly went wrong. Not only had he fallen ill quickly, but he was being oversaw by two doctors and a nurse that administered “’round the clock care.” Although this could also be considered circumstances out of anyone’s control, Drake is still deeply apologetic. “I just wanted to say how sorry I am about these two Miami shows. I got so ill so fast and I had never experienced anything like that in my life.” “…this one fell on me and I just want to apologize, because I hate letting down anyone who come to share these moments with us.” Drake promises Miami will get 100% out of him when he returns. We wish him a speedy recovery. Drake’s Statement Following Illness Source: Complex This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Drake Postpones Two Miami Shows Due To Serious Illness Source

The Chainsmokers have taken a dark, introspective turn with their music, as heard with “Sick Boy” and “Everybody Hates Me.” As it turns out, the duo’s music has been somewhat of an open book. Now, Drew Taggart is speaking out about his struggles with depression in a letter to fans. “Songwriting is my therapy,” he starts out. “I dealt with depression for what most would call the height of The Chainsmokers career thus far.” The Chainsmokers are certainly on top of their game, and from the outside looking in it seems like they’re doing better than ever. In some ways, that’s true. But, for Taggart, he’s learning to not hide his feelings behind a smile. “You’d think that an artist getting their first massive break and seeing success in a career they love would have no problems, but that’s the funny thing about depression. It’s doesn’t matter what you’ve accomplished because it attacks how you feel about it.” Through it all, songwriting has become his saving grace. Taggart says it wasn’t until he began putting feelings into his songs that he started to feel better. His entire statement is below. Thank you for sharing this message and your art with the world. Shöckface is back with a new single release, “Emerge” an experimental trap collaboration with fellow European music producer rkm. “Emerge,” comes on the heels of Shöckface’s Super 7 Records release, “Extract” on trap-veteran Jayceeoh’s imprint record label. “Emerge” takes listeners into the depths of Shöckface’s dark twisted signature sound which is only aided by rkm.’s luring break. The record sits among itself in the trap scene where far too many music streaming platforms have become overladen with the same structured trap records made of the lackluster structuring and stock synths. It’s an exciting time for hip hop and EDM — and a huge, triple-threat production like the one teased here is bound to go viral. While little is known about their studio session, @chrislongfilms was there to capture the moment. Now that the photo has circulated, fans are expecting to hear something from Diplo, Yachty and Juice soon. This could even be part of Lil Yachty’s new album Nuthin’ 2 Prove, which drops next month. Fingers crossed. October 19th. “ Nuthin’ 2 Prove “ New Album I’m Droppin. Bye. — Underdog (@lilyachty) September 14, 2018 Diplo stunned us earlier this year with his refreshing and collab-heavy California EP. Previously, the producer worked with Lil Yachty on “Forever Young” and with Juice WRLD on a track that has yet to see an official release. Check out all the music below. Scientists are exploring the many wonders of MDMA, but this has to be the most interesting study we’ve heard of thus far. As it turns out, octopuses seem to experience similar euphoria and pro-social behaviors when exposed to the substance — just as humans do. This all started out when researchers noticed a key similarity between the human brain and that of the octopus. When on MDMA, we receive that warm and fuzzy feeling from an increase in the neurotransmitter known as serotonin. A protein involved in the process with octopuses is very similar. Once researchers found this out, their direction for this study was clear. Study co-author Eric Edsinger explains, “pharmacologically, we could predict MDMA should work in octopus in the way it does in humans.” To test the hypothesis, octopuses were placed in an “interconnected three-chamber tank meant to test sociability.” The social chamber included another octopus and the object chamber contained a figure of Chewbacca (because why not). Each octopus was placed in a center chamber and allowed to roam freely for 30 minutes. Without any MDMA in their systems, octopuses tended to spend time in the social chamber if that octopus was female. If it were male, they’d hang out with Chewbacca instead. After being dosed with MDMA, octopuses were more likely to spend time with male octopuses in the social chamber — some even reaching out in the form of a “hug.” We might be more similar to sea creatures than we think. W&W aren’t ones to shy away from collaborations, having worked with some of the best in the game including Armin van Buuren, Hardwell, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Darren Styles, and more. Now, they’ve teased what could potentially be the biggest collaboration of their career. A track with Martin Garrix is sure to bring you some notoriety, but it’s not like W&W needs the extra push. The duo is already fantastically recognized in the dance music community, and a collab with young Garrix is sure to only reinforce their star status. The tweet from W&W simply reads, “W&W x Martin Garrix = ?”, leaving us with more questions than answers. Is this really a hint at a collaboration? If so, what does it sound like? When is it coming out? Is there a vocalist? With nothing else to do but sit and wait, we’re forced to imagine what could be. For now, just know that something is brewing. The year of Kanye West is upon us. Dropping just one EP would have been enough to make him the talk of the summer, but Yeezy dropped two — his solo release ye and Kids See Ghosts with Kid Cudi. His one-off track with Lil Pump, “I Love It,” managed to break the YouTube record for most plays in a week. Now, he’s teasing even more new music. Good Ass Job First up, West has announced he’s making Chance the Rapper‘s next album entitled Good Ass Job. Anyone up on Kanye West history knows that was supposed to be the name of his own fourth studio album. But, the passing of his mother in 2007 brought about 808s & Heartbreak instead. “Me and Chance working on a new album,” Kanye revealed at Chance’s Open Mike event in Chicago Monday evening. “It’s called ‘Good Ass Job.'” YANDHI For those craving full-on Kanye West, he’s also hyping his followup to 2013’s Yeezus. The rapper took to Instagram to share the album art, posting a similar CD image with a revealing message — “YANDHI 9 29 18.” Kanye will premiere his new music on SNL. That’s next weekend. TRL is back on, or at least some really awkward, wannabe version of it is. But we’re not here to talk about the poorly dressed set or severe lack of a live studio audience presence — the fact that there’s not one teenager screaming their heads off for their favorite artist. We’re here for Dillon Francis. The producer recently met up with Sway — which, by the way, is still crushing the host game — to talk about his forthcoming Spanish release Wut Wut and “translate” some of the album’s lyrics. Naturally, being that Dillon Francis was involved, the result is pretty hilarious. This is what it sounds like when translation goes horribly wrong: whipped cream, nipples, strawberries, ice cream, and kisses. Dillon describes a rapper going in on “White Boi” saying, “I wanna meet your mom, I wanna meet your dad.” Let’s just say translating isn’t his forte. Watch below and look out for Wut Wut next Friday! Marshmello Trains To Be A Soccer Pro In New Video For “Stars”
Cupe posted a topic in DJ Headquarters
Following up the recent music video for “Flashbacks,” only a little less than two weeks ago, Marshmello returns with another video from Joytime II, “Stars.” In this video, the sweet treat struggles with the shape of his head as it’s not quite conducive to head shots in soccer – the flat top and angled corners are surely difficult for aiming. (And yet there are pictures of players with his head everywhere?) He and his dad bond over this new goal as a short training montage follows before he enters his very first game and shows up all the players who doubted him earlier on. As his dad cheers from behind the fence, everyone else has a sudden change of heart and accepts him in their squad. It’s certainly a charming story – watch it all unfold below. Bro Safari and UFO! first teamed up for Animal in 2013, an explosive 10-track album that landed right in the heyday of trap music. “Brick Squad Anthem,” “Original Don,” and other similar tracks were just making their rounds and dominating playlists and tracklists across the world, and Bro Safari and UFO! wanted in on it. Now five years later, the two have grown immensely in their solo careers. We’re not sure what prompted their reunion, but you won’t hear any complaints from us. Their second album together, Clockwork, does not follow trends. It doesn’t even try to forge a path. Instead, it’s as if Nick Weiller and Edwin Garro got in the studio with the mindset of, “Let’s see what sticks.” The opening track “N.U.M.B.” should tell you most of what you need to know about the rest of the album. It is a thumping, experimental, tribal track that wobbles and flows inside a barely stable box that is as pliable as wet sand between your fingers. The rest of the album generally follows suit. The first five tracks, including “N.U.M.B.” and “WAMF,” had all been previously released as singles. “Osangala” is the first new track we get from the album release, a vibey, atmospheric, hypnotic track. The repetition of “osangala” is like a mantra, luring you into a trance state along with the softly thumping kick. It’s a brilliant tune on its own, and even stronger in the context of the album. From there, Clockwork finishes up with “Mortar” and the titular track “Clockwork.” Bro Safari and UFO! will be unveiling their new approach to bass music with a tour, set to hit intimate clubs across North America this fall.
