Martin Garrix has been keeping himself busy in 2018. From new music and constant touring, Garrix has found continued success as electronic dance music’s adored icon. Sharing a glimpse of his life, the Dutch DJ uploaded his latest episode of his vlog series “The Martin Garrix Show”. In his vlog, Garrix showcases his trip from his native country to Milan, Italy. He arrived for a photo and video shoot for his collaboration with A|X Armani Exchange where he posed in their latest clothing for Fashion Week 2018. The vlog then takes the audience on Garrix’s adventures through Asia. In it, he showcased his recent birthday celebration in Beijing, China where he just turned 22-years-old. His birthday was juxtaposed with footage of his shows in Beijing and Tokyo, Japan. Since 2017, Martin Garrix has become the face of A|X Armani Exchange. He and model, actress Cara Delevingne became apart of Armani’s initial advertisement run after company head Giorgio Armani unveiled the new direction and sorting of his brands portfolio. In terms of music, Garrix recently revealed that new music with longtime collaborator Julian Jordan is coming soon and in a big way. There is also news revolving around the upcoming release of a track Garrix has teased called “Acces“. Until the new music is out, we can only hope that the final products become solid gold. Baby Rezz is growing up so fast… It was earlier this year we learned a superfan couple named their baby “Rezz” after seeing the DJ/producer live at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival. Months later and the little one has already attended her first music festival to see Rezz live for herself. Not only that — when spotted in the crowd, she and her mom were invited backstage to meet the hypnotic woman she’s named after. As you can see from the video below, the exchange was absolutely adorable. “Want to hold her?,” the mom asked. “Sure! I’ve never held a baby,” Rezz said. “Actually, I think I have once but…” Check out Rezz holding Baby Rezz here and just try to not smile. Last night’s headlining set at Cal Jam 2018 in San Bernardino, California, was hosted by a surprise set by Nirvana. Surviving members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic were joined by Joan Jett, John McCauley, and Brody Dalle to bring the second annual music festival a rare performance from the grunge-rock outfit since the death of the band’s frontman Kurt Cobain. The set was filled with a variety of songs from their critically acclaimed albums Nevermind and In Utero. This includes performances of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, “All Apologies”, “In Bloom”, “Breed”, “Serve the Serpents”, and “Scentless Apprentice”. The stand-in artists singing Cobain’s words were Blackhearts front-woman Joan Jett and John McCauley of the alternative/indie rock band Deer Tick. Both artists have performed with Grohl and Novoselic before during the band’s set after their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony and a secret show in Brooklyn, respectively. Backing vocals from Brody Dalle (the Distillers) were present during the performance of “All Apologies” to close their set. This was a major surprise from the new music festival which is curated by Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters. Cal Jam 2018 already boasted a powerful lineup consisting of Iggy Pop, Billy Idol, Tenacious D, Greta Van Fleet, and more. In their past and rare shows, Nirvana has been joined by an arsenal of prolific musicians. This included the likes of Paul McCartney, Lorde, Beck, St. Vincent, Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), and J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.). Watch the full set below. Nirvana 2018 setlist: “Serve The Servants” (with John McCauley) “Scentless Apprentice” (with McCauley) “In Bloom” (with McCauley) “Breed” (with Joan Jett) “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (with Joan Jett) “All Apologies” (with Joan Jett and Brody Dalle) This article was first published on Your EDM. Glastonbury Festival just sold out in 37 minutes without any lineup. The iconic music festival returns next June after a two-year break, and fans are beyond stoked to experience Glastonbury in 2019. Unlike most events, this one is able to sell out without any hint as to who might headline. Or, who any of the acts might be for that matter. Glastonbury took its “fallow” year off in 2018 to allow the grounds to rest up. It’s a good thing, because next year’s installment is expected to be bigger than ever. Many of the world’s top acts perform at Pilton in Somerset, England for approximately 135,000 people. Tickets went on sale at 9 am today, and according to reports they were all gone by 9:37 am. No doubt Glastonbury is a hot ticket. Sales aren’t quite over yet, though. Returned tickets will go on-sale in April 2019. So music fans hoping to attend the festival over June 26 through June 30 will have a window of opportunity to snag their spot. “Tickets have now all sold out!” Organizer Emily Eavis shared on social media. “We are blown away by the huge demand, looks like record numbers tried. Thank you for your patience and incredible support and for those of you who missed out, there will be a ticket resale in April.” H/T: Mirror This article was first published on Your EDM. Kanye West returned to social media earlier this year — and just like that he’s gone again. The artist who prefers to be called Ye has conveniently dipped out in the wake of controversy. Sure, a lot of Ye’s fame is centered around controversy, but there has been an excess lately. Recently he came under fire for his political views after giving a pro-Trump speech off-camera at SNL. He later uploaded a photo wearing his MAGA hat which provoked other celebrities including Lana Del Rey to speak out against him. Not only that, he said the 13th amendment of the Constitution should be “abolished.” Later, he clarified he meant to write “amend.” On top of it all, that YHANDI album he promised was never officially released and pushed back until Black Friday. His wifey Kim Kardashian says it’s worth the wait. Now that he’s off social media, she may have to speak on his behalf even more often. Of course, we don’t know the real reason why he has logged off, but all of this attention he has brought on himself has to be quite overwhelming. Young people are taking stronger, purer forms of party drugs than ever before, according to a new report. Ecstasy in particular is the go-to for cutting loose, but it doesn’t come without potential dangers. The National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC) just put out its report on Australian drug trends. It reveals the percentage of people using ecstasy crystals and capsules has hit record levels, especially among young adults. According to research, ecstasy crystals and capsules tend to be stronger than ecstasy pills. Although pill form is still the most popular, it’s on a steady decline. Overall, popularity of capsules jumped from 19 percent to 72 percent since 2008 “Use of higher-purity stimulants can increase the risk of experiencing acute and long-term negative health effects,” research lead Dr. Peacock explains. “Acute effects may include dehydration, increased or irregular heart rate, agitation, headaches, and seizures. Use over long periods of time without sleep or in combination with other substances can increase the risk of these types of effects.” The “overwhelming majority” of users were combining ecstasy and other stimulants with a “cocktail of other drugs,” including marijuana, ketamine and LSD. It’s important to note, the study relied on the participants to describe the substances. No drugs were tested and no purity levels were verified. David Morales has reportedly been arrested for ecstasy possession. The Grammy Award-winning DJ/producer was detained at Fukuoka airport in Japan when authorities discovered a “white powder” in his luggage. According to police, he was smuggling 0.3 grams of ecstasy on a flight from Hong Kong. “He was arrested for allegedly violating the law on narcotics and psychotropics control,” a police spokesman told AFP. Morales insisted to police that the drugs were not his and somebody might have slipped the baggy into his belongings. Morales was expected to play at Bijou in Fukuoka, Japan on October 6th and Sound Museum Vision in Tokyo, Japan on October 7th. “Jackie Chan” by Tiësto and Dzeko with Post Malone and Preme is one of the most star-studded collaborations of the year — and now there are six more ways to listen. Not long ago, Tiësto unleashed a remix pack featuring M-22, Lookas, Hugel and Sebastian Perez, plus a special big room remix of his own. Now, he’s hitting us with round two featuring remixes from Keanu Silva, Holy Goof, Boiler, David Puentez, Daijo and MANDY. Although nearly all the producers maintain an agreeable house speed, the Jackie Chan (Remixes, Vol. 2) is just as diverse as the first pack, with the exception of MANDY who kicks the track into high gear with a happy hardstyle-infused banger. If we have to pick favorites, Holy Goof drops an absolutely mean remix and Boiler delivers a stunning rendition. Tiësto’s own remix on the previous volume takes the cake though. Kick it to “Jackie Chan” right here and let us know your favorites! Jackie Chan (Remixes, Vol. 2) Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. This is an appreciation post for Zedd and this cute new pupper. It seems as though the worldwide DJ/producer just doubled his wolf pack and we’re obsessing over the announcement photo. Looking like Rafiki with a man bun, Zedd proudly holds up his little prince like Simba from The Lion King. “Look Simba, one day everything the light touches will be yours,” he shares on social media. That’s actually a Mufasa quote, but no need to nitpick this amazing post. It’s already been made into a meme. Note: it’s entirely possible this is a random puppy. Zedd often times likes to play with puppies, see. If this is indeed his new doggo, we need to know the name ASAP. So cute! Two Feet is a wholly unique producer, as evidenced by his breakout single “Go Fuck Yourself” and newer songs like “I Feel Like I’m Drowning.” His production is instantly recognizable, owing to his own raw vocals and the unique style of LFO synth he loves to employ in each of his songs. Today Two Feet releases his debut album A 20 Something Fuck. It wasn’t too long ago that Two Feet was going through a crisis and was pulled out of it by friends and family, and it’s with that context that the album feels so much heavier and real. “I Feel Like I’m Drowning” was already a hit by that time, but new songs like “You Say” and “Back Of My Mind” give a much deeper look into the mind of one of our generation’s brightest artists. The album ebbs and flows with natural fluidity, going from slow to intense, quiet to loud. However, it’s hard to beat the intensity of “I Feel Like I’m Drowning” and “Hurt People.” These two songs serve as anchors for the album, and the other songs serve more as transitionary between them. In that way, A 20 Something Fuck still presents itself as a journey and one that we’d gladly go on over and over. And better yet, there’s still part 2 coming soon. Thank you for listening to “A 20 Something Fuck (part 1)” already excited to finish part two… it’s different — Two Feet (@TwoFeetMusic) October 5, 2018 Listen below. Sam Feldt lends his amazing production on a new track “Heaven (Don’t Have A Name),” but it’s the feature that really has our attention. Actor Jeremy Renner supplies his vocals on the collaboration in a twist we didn’t see coming. Apparently Feldt has been a huge fan of Renner’s acting for some time and reached out to work with him. Known for his roles in The Hurt Locker and the Avengers series, now the star can add an EDM feature to his long list of credits. Hey, we live in a world where Steve Aoki wants to collab with Elon Musk, so this isn’t too weird or anything. Much of Sam Feldt’s music focuses on love and this release is no exception. With lyrics that have the same appeal as your favorite classic rock song and a drop as euphoric as this one, “Heaven” is sure to hit right in the feels. A few plays through and it grows on us a little more each time. Listen here and let us know what you think of this unexpected collab! Martin Garrix is gearing up for tons of new music and fans have been speculating he might unleash a full body of work at Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) later this month. He’s well overdue for a debut album and with all this talk of new music, it’s a real possibility it’s coming soon. “Acces” is expected to be the first of many new forthcoming releases from the #1 DJ in the world — perhaps a leading single? The producer’s Seven EP, which is the closest thing to a full album we’ve heard from Garrix, consisted of seven tracks released over seven days of ADE 2016. His loyal following hopes for a similar scenario at ADE 2018, but either way Garrix has confirmed he’s “dropping a bunch” soon. First, his Martin Garrix project, then he’ll take time to properly finish AREA21 ideas and release those. “There’s some crazy music coming up.” Martin Garrix Teases New Music yesss lot of new music! dropping a bunch of MG music first and then gonna take some time to properly finish some area21 ideas, there’s some crazy music coming up — MARTIN GARRIX (@MartinGarrix) October 5, 2018 So can we expect another 7 tracks in 7 days during ADE? Talk to anyone in the music industry who’s out on a Friday night and ask them how they’re doing, and you’ll probably get some version of the answer, “Eh, just been really busy.” This sort of nonchalant answer belies the reality that they’ve probably been too busy, and it’s affecting their mental health in negative ways. A new survey conducted by ticketing company and event guide Skiddle among some 520 promoters, venue operators and event organizers found that 82 percent of people working in this business are suffering with continuous levels of stress. This won’t come as any surprise to anyone actually working in the music industry, as it’s become just a normal part of life. But it’s exactly that sort of complacent normalcy that is so dangerous. According to the survey: 67 percent of respondents said they had anxiety 40 percent said they had struggled with depression 10 percent said they developed symptoms associated with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as a direct result of their work 65 percent of promoters said they frequently felt an “intense and unmanageable level of pressure” 47 percent said their work in music “often led to a constant feeling of anxiety and sadness” Normal or not, these issues are not okay. A separate survey earlier this year by by Help Musicians UK found that of 2,000 musicians interviewed, 71% experience anxiety and 68.5% deal with depression. It’s a widespread issue that affects all corners of the music industry, and it’s taking the lives of the people closest to us. One promoter in the Skiddle survey commented: “After running a festival for a couple of years, the workload this year ended up depressing me to a level that I had suicidal thoughts and thoughts of self harm. “A couple of months later I had panic attacks when thinking about starting the process again, and decided to go on hiatus instead.” Another participant said: “It’s the loneliness and isolation that scares me. Anxiety and stress are just part and parcel of the job – it’s sad but true.” The biggest worries of promoters included “no regular income” (45 percent) and “lack of support” (43 percent). “Unsociable hours and the effect the job has on relationships also scored highly,” according to the survey results. Organizations like Help Musicians UK and attempts at general awareness like Mental Health Awareness Week are helping, but more needs to be done at an infrastructural level to help those in need. After the death of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington last year, Help Musicians UK launched a 24-hour helpline for anyone in the music industry. Those needing help and/or emotional support are urged to contact the Music Minds Matter line 24 hours a day, seven days a week, free of charge at 0808 802 8008. Though many EDM fans might not be aware of it, Tom Morello’s The Atlas Underground is one of our most anticipated albums of 2018 for the sheer amount of collaborations on it, as well as Morello’s own prowess. To give you an idea, collaborators on the project include Big Boi, Killer Mike, RZA, Steve Aoki, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, Herobust, Knife Party, Whethan, Vic Mensa, Gary Clark Jr., Portugal. The Man, K. Flay and more. With the album out next Friday, the final single has just been released, “Every Step That I Take” with Portugal. The Man and Whethan. It’s hard to comprehend this interesting combination of acts on one track, but thanks to Morello, it works brilliantly. Vocals from John Baldwin Gourley, production from Whethan, additional writing, composing, and arrangement from everyone involved plus Morello’s iconic guitar riffs make for a wildly exciting and innovative track that sounds better with each listen. “’Every Step That I Take’ deals with the haunting voices of fear and love on the steps of the emotional gallows. We are honored to be partnering with SAVE, a suicide prevention organization, with this track. You are not alone and there is always help available,” said Morello on the importance of the track. Already-released singles include “Rabbit’s Revenge” with Bassnectar, Big Boi and Killer Mike as well as “Battle Sirens” with Knife Party. The record is available for pre-order now HERE. One of the coolest things Snapchat has ever rolled out was Snapcode, which allows users to scan and locate friends without typing out their username. Now, Instagram is introducing a similar method for adding contacts with Nametag. The new feature allows users to link up almost instantly when they meet in real life. “Nametag is a customizable identification card that allows people to find your Instagram profile when it’s scanned,” as Instagram states. “Your nametag is uniquely yours and makes it quick and fun to add people and accounts you discover in person.” Both iOS and Android can enjoy the benefits of Nametag by swiping right and scanning a tag with their camera. Or, by tapping “scan a Nametag” under settings. It’s a glamorized way of typing in someone’s username, but it can be super handy when spelling is tricky. Efficiency is key. Instagram’s parent company Facebook is taking it back in some respects to the time when a student’s social media was directly attached to their school. Some universities in the US are implementing a new feature which allows classmates to connect through certain institutions, class year and more. With Instagram already being one of the leading social media options, it will be interesting to see how it grows over time. Currently, the platform is pushing to connect people in new, exciting ways. CloZee has unleashed her debut album Evasion and what a journey it is… French indie-electronic composer and producer CloZee opens up sonically in ways beyond words with the brand new, 10-track release. The album showcases her signature world bass sound, delivering a unique energy on every track with relatable, mass appeal. Each track is a destination in itself. Parts of the world can truly be heard — scratch that, experienced — through CloZee’s approach to music. Her intricately designed melodies transport listeners to various cultures, but no matter where you find yourself the bass hits all the same. In her own words, CloZee describes the excitement surrounding this release and the story behind it: I’m beyond happy for everyone to finally be able to listen to this album, and to travel to their own secret places. EVASION is the result of my years of research and adventures while touring, traveling, meeting new people, and discovering new landscapes. I finally felt ready to share a complete musical story that tells about myself and my past experiences. It was awesome to see the crowd’s reaction when I played the new songs this summer and now it’s time to reveal the project as a whole, and I couldn’t be more excited. In her homeland of France, “evasion” means “escaping the reality.” So let that preface the Evasion journey you’re about to embark on. After already collaborating with Micah Martin, XO Sad, Devin Oliver, and putting out an official remix for Papa Roach, Kayzo continues his descent into pure pop punk/dance crossover with a newly teased collaboration with none other than Underoath. Underoath is going on 20 years together as a band, and Kayzo is one of the hottest rising acts in dance music; and with Kayzo’s recent infatuation with blending pop punk and emo with his own music, we have to say we’re not surprised by this combination one bit. Kayzo posted a teaser of the track on social media earlier today, and it already sounds great (even with the distortion). No word yet on when this will release, but it will likely be soon. And good chance it’ll end up on Kayzo’s newly minted Welcome Records, as well. Check out the teaser below. This week, DJ Snake’s 2016 hit “Let Me Love You” with Justin Bieber reached a billion streams on Spotify. That achievement makes him only the fifth artist in Spotify history (along with Drake, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, and The Chainsmokers) to have two songs earn a billion streams each on the platform. DJ Snake first hit the billion-stream mark with “Lean On” ft. MØ, his 2015 collaboration with Major Lazer. His newest song “Taki Taki” with Selena Gomez, Ozuna, and Cardi B is currently the most-streamed song in the world on Spotify, garnering over 25 million streams on Spotify and over 20 million views on YouTube in just its first week. While it’s still quite far away, could “Taki Taki” have the potential to be Snake’s 3rd billion-stream track? We’ll have to wait and see. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike have facilitated an insane mega collaboration between themselves and Julian Banks and Bassjackers. To top it all off they’ve enlisted in Snoop Dogg to lay down the verses for this monster track, “Bounce.” Surprisingly, the rap legend isn’t the focus of the production — not by a long shot. His vocals set tone, but the other artists behind this collab are all about delivering a straight up festival trap banger with this one. Listening to this single during everyday life would be a little intense, but bouncing along with the crowd at, say Ultra or something would be bananas. “Bounce” demonstrates Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s ability to think outside of the box and bring artists together in a huge way. Fresh off his Insomniac Radio takeover, New England’s own JSTJR continues to make huge waves with his distinct regional sound and production stylings. After his massive moombahton hit, “Tiguere” ft Jenn Morel, took the global bass community by storm, JSTJR is now moving one step further with the record, debuting the music video and remix pack. Alongside a funky and infectious music video, JSTJR dishes out some stellar remixes featuring BK Beats, Akira Akira, Schade, Kid Kobra, and his VIP remix with Rathero, all via Insomniac Records. “I’ve loved Tiguere from the very first session with Jenn Morel and wanted to make sure the remixes reflected the energy of the song while all offering a unique take. What’s great is that the remixers are all close friends- so it’s definitely a family affair with Jenn, Insomniac Records, and everyone else who’s a part of the package!” – JSTJR “Such a fun song, Tiguere is a slang word from my home land, Republica Dominicana, used to describe a Bad Boy. This record is so Badddd!” – Jenn Morel This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: JSTJR Drops “Tiguere” Music Video And Remix Pack Source

It seems that Ganz’s current classification in EDM and bass music as a dubstep producer is a bit of a misnomer. With the Amsterdam-based artist hitching his wagon quite firmly to Dim Mak of late and with heavy, distorted bass and slower tempos being a feature of most of his releases, it’s understandable that some would classify him thus. Ganz himself seems to reject this idea and identifies more with hip hop but just in case there was any confusion, his new EP Skin In The Game out now on Dim Mak does a pretty good job of clearing up and misconception. Possibly Ganz’s best release to date, Skin In the Game is about as far outside of dubstep as you can get while still staying relatively close to the EDM sphere. Its synths are a ravey pop of color among bass-heavy beat structures which are quite clearly derived from hip hop. It’s steppy, funky and emotive all at once and could easily cross over not only to hip hop but to indie electronica, so widely appealing are tracks like “Let’s Fly Away” feat. Luna May. As he’s seemingly in a big of a crossroads musically, continuing to work with Dim Mak (he was just featured on a Keys N Krates remix album, remixing their track “Flute Loop) but branching out into exciting new sound profiles, Your EDM decided now was a good time to hit the versatile producer with some questions and find out how he feels about his style, where he’s going next and how he makes those goosebump-inducing synths. Here’s Ganz: How did you hook up with Dim Mak on this EP? I was following the label for years and was always a big fan of Keys N Krates and Aoki’s stuff so we decided to have a chat with Dim Mak. I thought it might be a cool label to join forces with and after a bit we happily signed this EP with them. A lot of fans associate you with dubstep, but Skin in the Game has a lot of hip hop vibes as well. What influences you about both genres? To be honest I’m not really inspired by or see myself as a dubstep dude. The whole EP is more hip hop, because that’s what I started with back in the day. I always wanted to put hip hop elements in it because it’s still my fave genre. How is it to create that fusion sound in terms of the bass-heavy hip hop vibe? It’s really cool, because you can go all the way and as long I feel the vibe in it, it works fine for me. That’s why the whole EP is a bit complex sometimes but it’s all linear and every track is following up the next one. How did you come to work with Luna May and CUT_ on those vocal tracks? Did you send them beats and have them do vocals or did you build the tracks around their vox? I hooked up with CUT_ at the Red Bull studios in Amsterdam where we recorded that track. I was already a big fan of them and felt like we needed so combine those two sounds together. With Luna May I did the track while touring in Australia last year. We sat down together, had some food and I think we finished that track that day as well. The title track on this EP has a lot of different styles and a lot of complex syncopation but it’s still definitely a fun dancefloor track. How did you get all those parts to work and still make it fun? Working on that beat reminded me a bit of some Neptunes and old Missy Elliot or Timbaland stuff. After that I met up with the vocalist at the Sony ATV studio in Sydney and when she heard it the first time, she had the lyrics already done after 10 minutes. Was there a theme or vibe you were trying to create with this EP? I wanted to take some old Ganz along with some new Ganz sauces and try to blend them together. Which worked out for me because for example, “I’ll Be Gone” could’ve been on my first Purple Cwtch EP as well. What do you enjoy about the style of synths you made on this EP? Any new techniques or programs you were messing around with there? Everything was made with Serum, Massive, Synplant and Spire. Those are all different synthesis and can create beautiful sounds, even just in solo. For example, what I did with “Playing With Fire” was just a few Synplant tracks and heaps and heaps of resampling. You’ve got a new remix coming out of Keys N Krates’ track “Flute Loop” on their new remix album on Dim Mak. How did you come to be involved in that one? I’ve known the guys for a few years now and joined them on their west coast bus tour, so after that we kept in contact and if some of us was around we hooked up. After that, I got the question to do a remix and that was a 100% yes for me. Any other new tracks coming out that you can talk about? Not really. I’m just about to finish a new EP, so hopefully I can tell more about that later. Also, I just made this mix for Annie Nightingale’s show on BBC Radio 1 & 1Xtra with heaps of exclusives, airing in October. Any plans to tour or do any shows in the near future? I’m coming back to the USA in a month. Stay tuned for dates! Skin In the Game is out now on Dim Mak records, as is Ganz’s remix of the Keys N Krates track “Flute Loops.” Check them both out on Beatport, Spotify or Soundcloud.
