Senators are calling on Ticketmaster following the investigative report that revealed an apparent mass scalping / resale program. Specifically, Senators Jerry Moran and Richard Blumenthal have addressed Ticketmaster CEO Michael Rapino in light of the recent allegations against his company. Moran and Blumenthal jointly helped pass the BOTS Act, an effort to limit the use of bots in ticket purchasing. Now, they want to know specifics about Ticketmaster’s operations and how the resale program TradeDesk is used. “Citing examples of TradeDesk users moving up to several million tickets per year” — the letter below states — “the allegations of the harms to consumers made in this piece are serious and deserve immediate attention.” If Ticketmaster is indeed colluding with scalpers, it will undoubtedly damage the integrity of the company, in betraying ticket buyers everywhere. The senators seek a response by October 5th. Read the letter below via Rolling Stone. Senators’ Letter To Ticketmaster CEO Dear Mr. Rapino: CBC News reported on September 19th that Ticketmaster, the live-event ticket sales and distribution subsidiary of Live Nation Entertainment, recruits and employs professional ticket scalpers to circumvent the ticket purchasing limits on its own primary ticket sales platform in an effort to expand its ticket resale division. According to the article, Ticketmaster utilizes a professional reseller program called TradeDesk, which provides a web-based inventory for scalpers to effectively purchase large quantities of tickets from Ticketmaster’s primary ticket sales website and resell these tickets for higher prices on its own resale platform. Citing examples of TradeDesk users moving up to several million tickets per year, the allegations of the harms to consumers made in this piece are serious and deserve immediate attention. Given our ongoing interest in protecting consumers from unfair and deceptive practices, we seek clarification on the use of this program. The enacted Better Online Ticket Sales (BOTS) Act of 2016 prohibits the “circumvention of a security measure, access control system, or other technological control or measure on an Internet website or online service that is used by the ticket issuer to enforce posted event ticket purchasing limits or to maintain the integrity of posted online ticket purchasing order rule.” Please provide responses to the following questions: Describe the event ticket purchasing limits that Ticketmaster currently employs for sales on its primary ticket sales platform. Additionally, how does the company identify computer programs used to circumvent these purchasing limits? Do Ticketmaster’s ticket purchasing limits and associated detection practices apply to users of its online program, TradeDesk? If not, please explain. What are the specific rules and processes of compliance for participating TradeDesk users as it relates to ticket purchasing limits and other relevant consumer protection priorities? Please share any documents and guidance materials that are provided to TradeDesk users. What role does Ticketmaster’s Professional Reseller Handbook play in deterring its resellers from engaging in illegal ticket purchasing activities? Please provide your written response as soon as possible, but no later than 5 p.m. on October 5, 2018. Thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter. Somewhere in Australia Skrillex and Fisher went back to back to shut down the club last night. Part of us is dying inside because we missed out and the other part is screaming with joy because we’re so happy this happened. The surprise b2b went down at Ministry of Sound‘s official Listen Out after party in Sydney, which Fisher was headlining with support from Kormak and Coda. Skrillex wasn’t on the bill, but that’s never stopped him before. Before hopping on the decks, Skrillex cut the music and got on the mic to insist that the club turn down the lights. “No lights! That’s the only way we’re going to continue this,” he says in the video below. Club owners take note, the only sure way to get the party (or the after party) started — turn off the lights. Having Fisher and Skrillex throwing down doesn’t hurt either. Watch just a little glimpse of the action right here! Skrillex b2b Fisher This article was first published on Your EDM. From their social media presence, it appears rare that KIND, a charity supporting refugee and immigrant children, singles out their donors for public appreciation. But then again, not everyone is donating $500,000. Yesterday, KIND made a public appreciation post for Marshmello, who donated half a million dollars to the cause. “Your support in our work to ensure vital protections for children alone will go a long way in helping to guarantee the services that our clients need,” KIND wrote on Twitter. Thank you so much @marshmellomusic for your incredibly generous donation of $500,000 to KIND! Your support in our work to ensure vital protections for children alone will go a long way in helping to guarantee the services that our clients need. #GivingKINDness #immigrantchildren — KIND (@supportKIND) September 28, 2018 Marshmello earned $23 million in the past year according to Forbes. Slushii has been cranking out huge hit singles recently, including “Through the Night” and a month later dropping “Without You.” Not to mention his latest epic remix of Charlie Puth’s “The Way I Am” that blew fans away… At the beginning of this week, Slushii began teasing his new anthem release on social media and luckily we didn’t have to wait long! As Friday rolled around the release of “On My Own” dropped, giving fans exactly what they had been anticipating. “On My Own” was first teased at Nocturnal Wonderland but the final edit caught the crowd’s attention during last weekend’s Life Is Beautiful Festival, and fans have been on the edge of their seat waiting for its release. This track holds all things familiar to Slushii’s producing style, including the high pitched vocals and upbeat rhythm we all know and love. Sticking to what he knows best while still showing off the eclectic versatility he’s learned in the electronic music world. This single is a bit different from the last, incorporating a bass-heavy drop that brings an energy we haven’t seen from his recent singles. That bass lasts only a short bit until we are thrown right back into the classic trance synths the song begins with. If you’re reading into the lyrics, “I’m gonna do this on my own” are constantly repeated throughout the track. Although one line vocals are a Slushii staple, it could be taken as an indication that anything up and coming from this producer could be groundbreaking and bend whats “predicted” of him. His last EP, Find Your Wings, was released early this year and showed off an array of different styles the producer has mastered. These three latest singles have Slushii fans excited for what’s to come next and his opportunities are endless. Take a listen to “On My Own” below and download it for free! Remember that back and forth between Diplo and Rihanna a while ago? She said one of his produced tracks sounded like a “reggae song at an airport” and for a hot minute it was all anyone talked about. Well, that diss might have actually worked to his advantage. In a reveal to The Daily Star, Alesso reportedly said Ri is working on her next album with some of his producer pals including Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and Diplo. It sounds like her ninth album, currently known as R9, is going to be totally stacked. Alesso was quoted, “I’ve heard she wants to take over the dance music charts, we have some mutual friends, so we’ll see what happens with that. She has the voice that fits on any record, she makes every record sound great. Whether dance, house, ballad, Rihanna can do it all. It will be great.” A tweet from Diplo pretty much confirms that it’s happening. “The first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club,” he said. As for Alesso, he’d also be down to work with Rihanna, too. However, he said it’s too early to know about a feature. “We’ll see, but I would just make the most of the studio session and never ever leave,” Alesso told The Daily Star. “I’d just record vocals. I don’t care if she mumbles I would take it!” the first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club https://t.co/S5kubaGC0N — Diplo (@diplo) September 28, 2018 Source: The Daily Star | Photo via Celebrityabc This article was first published on Your EDM. Two of the hottest names in music, The Chainsmokers and Kelsea Ballerini, just premiered their brand new collaboration on The Ellen Show — and they completely nailed it. “This Feeling,” is just enough country and the right amount of future bass as two worlds collide for an incredible result. The premiere performance goes to show the track sounds just as amazing live as the studio recording. It proved to be the right recipe to get Ellen’s crowd riled up, too! Let’s talk about the strong vocal presence here. The country star sounds amazing as always and it seems Drew has stepped his game up, as well. To hold his own against Kelsea is saying something. All around, the duet plays out well and is a lot of fun to watch on stage. There’s more than enough chemistry. Not to mention, Drew’s crossover game is on point. Just look at that guitar and plain white tee! Watch the live world premiere of “This Feeling” below. And get ready to hear a lot more of this song, because we have a feeling it won’t be going away anytime soon. The performance is touted as “an innovative, tech-inspired, EDM-influenced ballet” that will feature “the first-ever fusion of live contemporary ballet dance with 3D digital avatars projected on-stage in real-time.” Sounds like just the sort of thing Noisia would want to be involved in. An album’s worth of unreleased tracks were recorded by the late Tim Bergling, better known as Avicii, and Nile Rodgers before Avicii’s sudden death in April 2018. After working together on the 2013 hit song “Lay Me Down,” they formed a lasting friendship and began to hold numerous recording sessions together. Rodgers claims to have made at least ten records with Avicii shortly before his passing, according to The Sun publication. “We laughed all the time,” Rodgers said in the column. “I used to say, ‘You put Tim and I in a room and we can do the entire Top 20 in, like, two or three weeks.’” The 66-year-old legend Rodgers is the chart making producer behind the famous records “Like A Virgin” by Madonna, “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk and “Let’s Dance” by David Bowie. The news of Avicii’s ten unreleased tracks surfaced after the recent release of Rodgers new album with his band Chic, 26 years after the group’s last released record. Avicii was only 28 years old when he passed on April 20 this after struggling with physical and mental health issues, shaking the music industry to its core. And due to the sensitivity behind his death, Rodgers is unsure of what will come of the unreleased tracks produced by the pair. Rodgers said he’s recently been contacted about the release of the tracks, referring to them as “extraordinary,” stating his good friend Avicii was “blown away, as was I.” “But, because of what I know, which I will not talk about,” stated Rodgers, “I want to make sure that whatever work I do would be to the benefit of the people Tim would want that project to benefit.” Rodgers and Bergling first met only a year before their hit release in 2013, and the two grew to know each other quite intimately. Rodgers spoke of his concern with Berglings drinking habits and referred to him as a “ little brother,” in an interview with Variety after his passing. You can reminisce by listening to “Lay Me Down” from Avicii and Nile Rodgers below. This article was first published on Your EDM. Fresh Blood, the Buygore sub-label responsible for introducing some of the biggest up and comers in bass music, has done it again. Through their compilations and numerous releases, we’ve seen dozens of acts be brought to the forefront of the bass scene, all at the helm of Buygore’s founder and dubstep pioneer, Borgore. The latest dose of dubstep comes from Florida native, Benda, with “Funeral Service.” Combining grimey basses with salacious screeches, Benda brings a massive type of heat to Fresh Blood. “Funeral Service” dishes out all the intensity we would expect from a Buygore release and doesn’t hold anything back. Hype for The Prodigy’s new album No Tourists, out November 2, is rising with the release of the project’s second single today, “Light Up The Sky.” Of course, hype was already in play after the release of “Need Some1” in July, but with this single, we’re starting to see that the quality of the first single isn’t just a fluke. “Light Up The Sky” has more of that grit and edge that we’ve been so sorely missing from some of The Prodigy’s newer work, especially on The Day Is My Enemy. As the band’s seventh studio album, The Prodigy have a particular responsibility to deliver with No Tourists, and we can rest easy knowing that they’re headed in the right direction. “No Tourists is ultimately about escapism and the want and need to be derailed and not to follow that easy set path,” explains Liam Howlett in his North London studio. “‘In these times we live in, people have become lazier and forgotten how to explore. Too many people are allowing themselves to be force fed, with whatever that may be. It’s about reaching out further to find another alternative route where the danger and excitement may be to feel more alive… not accepting that you can just be a tourist. That’s what the title is about for us.” Listen to “Light Up The Sky” below. This article was first published on Your EDM. On yet another segment of “headlines I didn’t think I’d be writing today,” actor Jeremy Renner, of Avengers and Bourne Legacy fame, has a new song coming out with Sam Feldt in which he’s singing. If you weren’t aware that Renner could even sing in the first place, join the club. Renner came out as a special guest during Sam Feldt’s set at Life Is Beautiful last weekend to perform the song, and we have to be totally honest when we say that he sounds damn good! The way he just casually slides across the table and sits as he belts out these beautiful notes is typical of a Hollywood actor like him, but it’s still impressive to watch. “Heaven (Don’t Have A Name)” is out October 5 on Spinnin Records! Egzod is one of those special producers who always manages to capture his listener from 0:01 of a track till the last second of the outro. Today, Egzod serves up nothing dissimilar from such a sonic journey in his second track on his latest Atman EP, “Legacy.” “Legacy” features alluring oriental vocal samples, layers of melodic structure and kick ass driving bass. I love a producer who can capture the imagination of their audience and bring a story into their production, “Legacy” is such a track, and arguably Egzod’s heaviest release yet. As an appreciator of skillful production, I am so excited to continue this versatile EP, with its melodic soundscapes and epic production. Enjoy “Legacy” below! Founded in 1993 by Scott Kirkland and Ken Jordan, it’s incredible to think that The Crystal Method has been supplying the world with eclectic waveforms for over a quarter-century. Today marks the release of The Crystal Method’s sixth studio album, The Trip Home. However, there’s something particularly special about this aural entrée; this is the first album release since Ken Jordan left the duo in 2017. ‘The Raze’ kicks off the LP with Le Castle Vania in the form of a cavernous, brooding, slightly disconcerting collaboration that hits all the right notes of what we love about The Crystal Method. Blood pressure stays elevated with ‘Holy Arp’, the LP’s first single; though it might be a different shade of holy than your mother’s typical Sunday, it’s a divine offering of synthesis all the same. A personal favorite, ‘Ghost in the City’ is all juice and no play. Magnificent, crushing bass arrangements, a seductive topline from Amy Kirkpatrick, and driving melodies all coalesce for that classic crystalized perfection we know and love. Throughout the release we’re met with dreamy oscillations, classic hip-hop breaks interspersed with atmospheric meanderings, and the eclectic nectar of 90’s legend penetrating the veil of 2018’s soundscape. ‘Carry On’ is a pillow for our weary minds, serving as a gorgeous intermission before the album takes on a loftier expression of introspection. The hands of Matt Lange and Justin Chancellor are all over the juicy center of ‘Cabin Pressure’, stirring up scenes of a back alley New York City crime chase that flows into a charging ballad with Franky Perez on ‘There’s a Difference’. Preparing the LP for an uplifting resolution is ‘Hold on to Something’, before dropping into the final, thoughtful expanse of ‘Let’s Go Home’. This last one is prime for a late night cruise down your favorite street, roaring past strobing lamplights as fond memories of the past are replaced with dreams of what’s to come. Hit play and tuck yourself in for the ride. Overall, The Trip Home is a glorious addition to The Crystal Method’s storied discography with decidedly cinematic tone. Somewhere along the 12 track journey, you may come to realize your brain has been sucked through your earholes and you’ve got a little more pep in your step, strangers are smiling your way, and you can finally sense the slight crisp of fall in the breeze. No, this isn’t the onset of dementia, rather the afterglow of a truly exquisite production from one of our genre’s greatest minds. As a not-so-newly minted solo moniker, Kirkland’s Crystal Method understandably spins a subtly different twist without Jordan’s production efforts. Don’t forget The Crystal Method is still embarking his North American tour in celebration of The Trip Home, and tickets/dates can be found here. This article was first published on Your EDM. The wait is over. Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter V is finally out! The album opens up with a touching message as the rapper’s mother as she calls her son, Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., her “rock.” Wiping the tears away we’re able to move forward and the next track, “Don’t Cry” is just what we needed. Lil Wayne’s delivery is on point as ever, but he takes a leaned back, inspirational approach with this one. Featuring stunning vocals from XXXTENTACION, Weezy certainly knows how to get our attention. XXX isn’t the only feature on the album. The album is filled with star-studded collaborations including Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ashanti, and more. His daughter Reginae Carter jumps on “Famous” to deliver the chorus. The personal song holds its own as a strong, hair-raising ballad — and one of the best on the sprawling 23-track album. Choosing favorites on this album will prove to be difficult. “Mona Lisa” featuring Kendrick Lamar is easily the most buzzed about. “Dope Ni**az” with Snoop Dogg is an instant classic. But, really, it’s not about the features — we’re hearing Lil Wayne at his finest. He is truly one of the greatest of all time and Tha Carter V is a shining example. By the way, happy birthday Weezy! Dabin’s album Two Hearts last year grabbed us by the heartstrings and wouldn’t let go, and we’re so happy to know that he’s been able to keep up that same level of quality with each release. Now as we head into his second album, he’s released the first single from the project, “Altitude” with Fytch. I can tell you that I’m probably one of the biggest Fytch fans on Earth, and this is definitely a new direction for the producer. It’s not the first time he’s done a collaboration – “Toxin” with Rezz immediately comes to mind – but it’s the first time that I can think of wherein he mostly takes a backseat to the other producer. Still, his vocals and production are clearly recognizable in the final product. On the other hand, this song is trademark Dabin with that beautiful guitar and melody. If this is our first glimpse into what we have to look forward to from Dabin’s next major body of work, you can mark us down as thoroughly excited. Listen below. Kayzo only dropped his debut album earlier this year, but he’s already been dropping more singles in the past couple of months doubling down on his emo punk/dance fusion. The newest track is a collaboration with xo sad out today, “FAKE FAKE FAKE.” The vocals immediately transport us back to the early 2000s, from the vocals even to the percussion and that sorrowful, droning piano melody. And then Kayzo comes in with that wonderful crossover drop that bridges the two worlds and we’re left headbanging and throwing up our rock fist while the group next to us moshes… of course that’s just in the mind’s eye right now, but it’s not hard to imagine. You can expect to hear a lot more like this from Kayzo throughout the end of this year and next. For now, check out “FAKE FAKE FAKE” below. This article was first published on Your EDM. Dillon Francis hasn’t had the easiest time releasing his new album WUT WUT, produced with 95% artists from Latin countries and sporting a predominantly Spanish flair. It’s alienated a large portion of his original fanbase that he cultivated with songs like “Bruk Bruk,” “Masta Blasta,” and “Get Low.” But in exchange, he’s been nominated for two awards at the Latin Grammys and gained exposure with an incredibly massive new fanbase. Despite the challenges presented by WUT WUT, Dillon Francis is stronger than ever. Fans will have already heard a number of singles from the album, including the addictive “Sexo” and “Look At That Butt.” The 11-track remix is entirely in Spanish aside from the opening track “White Boi” with Lao Ra, which serves as a thematic introduction to the remainder of the album. The rest of the album continues in a language that a majority of Dillon’s largest fanbase won’t understand, which isn’t necessarily Dillon’s fault, per se, but it no doubt poses a challenge to his listeners’ ability to engage with the material. I say this as a huge fan of KPop and JRock back in the day (thank you, anime), but then again, I never listened to those bands’ English songs for years beforehand only for them to suddenly start singing in another language. All that being said, Dillon’s trademark production is noticeably on every song. And though this is an album entirely of collaborations, it still belongs to Dillon at the end of the day, so we’d expect nothing less. Check out WUT WUT below! I’ve seen all manner of music videos from all levels of budgets in my days, but this new video for “Imma Be A Raver” by Yultron exceeds any and all expectations I might have had. It is without a doubt one of my favorite music videos of 2018, and you only need to watch it once to understand why. The entire ethos of the track itself, “imma be a raver till the mothafuckin day I die,” is conveyed with exceptional clarity and ease. A wise, older raver begins a domino effect of transformations from mundane to PLUR-tastic throughout the video, a cascading effect of raver-dom and free spirit. Beyond the obvious visual imagery, the song pounds on with reckless abandon to the effects it has on those who are within earshot. It’s brilliantly directed by Max Goodrich and Alessandro Chille and an astounding example of form following aesthetic. Watch the video premiere via Your EDM here, and catch Yultron at prom next Friday in San Francisco. Tickets available here. This article was first published on Your EDM. One of the best parts of my job is discovering new music, not only to the world but to myself as well. Now that LA90 have sent me new music from Maynix, I’m absolutely set on hearing so much more. The producer is putting out a new double side EP on the label today, “Hatch/Acid Rocker,” and both tunes are mind melting forays into bass you won’t regret checking out. The first track “Hatch” is a throwback to the darker days of dubstep, spanning over four minute of dastardly maniacal rhythms and wobbles. The second “Acid Rocker” blends dubstep with a bit of a darker, neuro-style bass that weaves in and out with crescendos and troughs in intensity that will leave you dancing like you’ve clearly lost control of your body. Both track are out now – get them here. This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Your EDM Premiere: Maynix – Hatch/Acid Rocker [LA90] Source

It’s hard to believe that Ekali hasn’t actually released an EP since he broke onto the scene in 2015, but they say the greatest things are worth the wait. Ekali’s debut EP Crystal Eyes is officially out today via OWSLA / Big Beat / Atlantic, further solidifying the young Canadian as one of dance music’s most versatile producers. Three tracks from the 6-track EP were already released as singles – “Forever” with Medasin and Elohim, “Helios” with Slumberjack, and “Leaving” with Yuna. The remaining three tracks, including one of our favorites on the EP with K.Flay, round out the release, giving it more depth and variety than we knew Ekali was capable of. Then again, we’re not surprised in the least that he could pull this off. HARD Day of the Dead said goodbye in 2015, but it’s back this year with a new vigor and an enticing, but admittedly strange, lineup. Long-time fans of HARD are sure to go nuts over the headliners, but will likely be scratching their heads at the rest. This year’s festival will feature two stages during the one-day event. On the main stage will be some massive headliners: Justice (Live), Die Antwoord, Knife Party, and Cashmere Cat. Joining them will be Jack Beats, Fuego, DNMO, and Thee Mike B. Justice revealed today that Day Of the Dead will be the last live show they plan to play with their current Woman Worldwide production; fitting, considering they played the first Day of The Dead exactly six years prior. The rest of the lineup leans more heavily toward techno than house, a new direction for HARD if there ever was one. Lee Foss b2b Felix da Housecat, Shiba San, Rodriguez Jr. (Live), J. Phlip, OMNOM, Rybo b2b Lukelski, Dateless, Playero, and Masha will round out Stage 2 of the festival. The lineup gets stranger when you think about how all of the headliners have already been around the Los Angeles area within the last year. Knife Party just played Academy in July, Cashmere Cat played Air+Style in March, Justice played HARD Summer and Coachella in 2017, and you can regularly catch Shiba San or Jack Beats at any number of events in the LA area. While it’s exciting to see all these headliners on the lineup, it’s definitely different than the entirely on-brand lineup of HARD Summer earlier this year. Perhaps they’re trying to rebrand their Halloween festival to compete against Escape: Psycho Circus, which is also run by Insomniac Events. But it could prove difficult to entice day-one HARD fans to drop the coin on this one. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, September 27 at 12PM. Love ballads in dance music aren’t terribly common, but they’re certainly growing in popularity as the line between pop and EDM blurs more and more with every passing month. This new track from HARIZ is a prime example of a love song that should be relatable to any young person who’s ever been in love and felt betrayed. Of the “Think Of Me,” HARIZ says: “I dated this girl, and I had no idea the entire time that she had a boyfriend. So it’s two ways—I hope you’re still thinking of me and you’re fucking jealous, but I also hope you’re still thinking of me because I’m thinking of you.” Now HARIZ has put out the official music video for the single with director Alex Di Marco. It’s a wonderful representation of that feeling of desperation and anger intertwining and melding together in your mind. Remembering the good times but having the bad be still so salient in your mind… it’s a tough thing to come to terms with at any age. Of the video, HARIZ says: “When we decided to shoot a video for ‘Think of Me,’ we immediately knew we wanted Alex Di Marco (director of Khalid, Wiz Khalifa) to direct and we were so happy he was just as excited about it. Alex wrote a treatment that resonated with me and brought in actress Alena Savostikova to be my counterpart – it was an incredible vibe working with both of them on set. We wanted to bring the song to life in a real and raw way. We have all been in toxic relationships that are really hard to let go of, and sometimes – even when we’ve already let go of that person – we wish that they still think about us, even though we’ve moved on. That’s what this song and video’s about.” Watch it below! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: Your EDM Video Premiere: HARIZ – Think Of Me Source
