The 2018 American Music Awards ceremony was a star-studded affair last night, featuring music’s biggest stars including Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez and so many more. Being bad paid off for Taylor Swift, as she scooped up several awards including the coveted Artist of the Year. She also took home Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Album Pop/Rock for reputation, and Tour of the Year. Newcomer Cardi B won big with Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song. Her breakout hit “Bodak Yellow” is still getting massive attention. Post Malone snagged Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for beerbongs & bentleys and Favorite Duo/Group Pop/Rock went to Migos. Despite all their catchy, hit songs, none could overcome Camila Cabello‘s “Havana,” which won Favorite Song in the Pop/Rock category. Marshmello went head-to-head with The Chainsmokers and Zedd for Favorite Artist in the Electronic Dance Music category, and came out on top. More on that here. The American Music Awards were last night, awarding dozens of artists with accolades worthy of their contribution to American music, including Marshmello. The masked treat won for “Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music” against The Chainsmokers and Zedd. For an awards show like the AMAs, which caters heavily to the mainstream crowd, the prize was actually in major contention. The Chainsmokers are still one of the biggest acts on the planet, selling out arenas and dropping new music almost monthly. Zedd, on the other hand, broke their record for most weeks at #1 on the Hot/Dance Electronic chart with “The Middle,” and just put out a massive remix for “Lost In Japan” by Shawn Mendes. Then we have Marshmello, who is arguably one of the most widely influential EDM artists in the current era (and I want to reiterate – in the current era), getting his hands into gaming, cooking, cameo appearances, Halloween costumes, movie soundtracks, and more. Marshmello also currently has the #1 song on the Hot/Dance Electronic chart with “Happier” feat. Bastille. You could say each artist put up a good fight, but Marshmello came out on top. .@marshmellomusic is going to be HAPPIER because he won Favorite Artist – Electronic Dance Music (EDM) at the #AMAs! Congratulations! pic.twitter.com/6bS1i5ShoT — American Music Awards (@AMAs) October 10, 2018 Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Eventbrite is facing a class action lawsuit over the huge data breach that occurred with their subsidiary Ticketfly. Back in June, Ticketfly acknowledged that the data of 27 million users was compromised as part of a massive hack. The website was blacked out for a time and read, “Ticketfly HacKeD By IsHaKdZ.” According to the lawsuit, Ticketfly “let its customers languish in ignorance as to the real risk of irreversible privacy harms.” Furthermore, Ticketfly “failed to prevent, detect, or otherwise act in a reasonable manner or within a reasonable time.” This put confidential personal information including names, home and business addresses, phone number, email addresses and passwords at risk. Plaintiff Shanice Kloss claims her and other users are subject to ongoing misuse of information, fraudulent charges, and even identity theft due to the data breach. In addition, she says she suffered mental anguish over the whole ordeal. The lawsuit is seeking damages and calls for Eventbrite to step up its security game. The suit states the company should provide identity fraud monitoring services for customers targeted by the hack. Also, preventative measures and enhanced security to combat future cyberattacks. While DJ Snake recently joined the club of artists who have had two songs cross 1 billion streams on Spotify, funnily enough, that same song brought Justin Bieber’s total to four. Bieber has had all four songs cross the one billion mark in just the past year. The first was “Sorry” from Purpose this past December. “Love Yourself” off the same album reached passed one billion in February. Then, his remix of “Despacito” reached one billion streams the same month, and was the first Latin single to accomplish the feat. Now, his collaboration with DJ Snake, “Let Me Love You,” has passed one billion. As Digital Music News points out, it’s ironic that despite having four songs with more than one billion views, Bieber is absent from Spotify’s top artists, ranked by number of monthly listeners. The list, however, is fluctuating constantly. Listen to all of his biggest songs below. Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Former Dash Berlin member Jeffrey Sutorius has already announced his split from the group. He has even officially launched a solo project under his own name. Now, he’s providing another statement following the massive career switch up, detailing his side of how things went down. From his perspective, severe mismanagement ultimately led to the split. “I’ve always been open as who I am and how I feel,” he starts out. “Not only as an artist but also as a human being. That is why it broke my heart when Eelke and Sebastiaan cut me off from my social media channels last June and that I could not share my feelings with the fans.” In a new interview with DJ Mag, he goes onto describe the show cancellations, his own health issues, and differences that brewed between fellow Dash Berlin members Eelke Kalberg and Sebastiaan Molijn, as well as the Vanderkleij Agency. Eventually, the name Dash Berlin was allegedly registered under their names and Sutorius was left out, forcing him to separate from the group. “So the only way of communicating left to me to be able to inform the outside world about what was happening, was to release a press statement where I addressed the core of my decision. To add insult to injury, Eelke and Sebastiaan filed a claim against me that by not fulfilling the shows that were booked at that time, I was breaking a contract, and they wanted to force me to continue touring, or else I would have to pay a penalty of EUR 100,000 per day that I refused to do so. Eventually, the court denied that claim.” All the messy stuff aside, the producer has set his focus on making new music. “I want to achieve things as Jeffrey Sutorius that Dash Berlin never accomplished,” he says. “The world is my oyster. And I like oysters! I am making new music, and I am beyond thrilled to share this with the world, with the fans. To tell my story and to share it. And to make everyone understand, I am EDM: Emotional Dance Music.” Sutorius’ full statement via DJ Mag outlines the alleged mismanagement and his plans for the future. UPDATE 10/10 | Ultra has released an official statement regarding the court decision made last night in the case of Worldwide Entertainment Group, Inc. vs. Adria MM Productions Ltd. Worldwide Entertainment Group, Inc. (“Worldwide Entertainment”) is pleased with the jury’s findings. The jury not only rejected the fraud claims asserted by Worldwide Entertainment’s former licensee (Adria MM), but also, it found that the Promotional Agreement between the parties was valid and enforceable. The jury further and correctly recognized Ultra as the rightful owner of the well-known Ultra brand for international music festivals, including Ultra’s circle U design mark. Despite these undisputed facts, it has been falsely reported that Adria MM had either prevailed in this case and / or that this case involved a “trademark dispute” respecting the right to use the Ultra brand for similar events in Europe. To the contrary, Adria MM filed a ten-count complaint. No count alleged trademark infringement. Adria MM lost on all counts, except on its claim for tortious interference, which was based on allegations that Worldwide Entertainment’s actions to retake its 2017 production from the admittedly defaulted licensee was undertaken too swiftly. No findings were made, and no inferences can be drawn, that Worldwide Entertainment did not own its brands and trademarks. Worldwide Entertainment and its current licensee are already hard at work putting together its lineup for the 2019 Ultra Europe event. Ultra Europe is still on track for 2019 and tickets are currently on sale. Since April last year, Florida-based Worldwide Entertainment Group Inc., promoters of the Ultra Miami Music Festival, and Adria MM Productions Ltd., a Croatian company that produces music festivals in Croatia and Europe, have been in litigation. Yesterday, the suit finally concluded, with both parties being found guilty of respective offenses. Yano Rubinstein, lead counsel for Adria, claimed that Worldwide had “secretly sabotaged Adria’s communication channels, both internally and with its customers.” Effectively, Rubinstein claimed, Worldwide had tapped Adria’s emails by changing their passwords and forwarding all emails to Worldwide’s attorneys. Adria’s company emails and social media pages were also affected.” Worldwide also allegedly told ticket vendors to turn over all proceeds to them directly. Rubinstein continued, “They learned that Adria was discussing doing a different festival with someone Worldwide considered a competitor. Once Worldwide realized that Adria was not likely to sign another five-year contract, they did everything they could to force Adria to sign. This included seizing the monies from the ticket sales.” A Miami judge declared Worldwide was guilty of breach of contract and intentional interference with the business relations of Adria and ordered the company to pay $866,000 in damages. However, the jury also found that Adria had breached its contract with Worldwide, and owed $366,211 in damages. As for how this affects Ultra Europe in 2019 is unclear. via Florida Record | Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Tritonal has unveiled their forthcoming studio album and accompanying tour entitled U & ME. To top it all off, they mark the dawn of this new musical era with the record’s leading single “U Found Me.” The dynamic new release from Tritonal offers a glimpse into the album’s unique soundscape. The uplifting single embraces the same progressive/electro roots that ignited their career. There’s plenty more where this came from, as the duo promises a steady flow of releases leading up to the album drop and a tour kickoff in January. Along with the massive news, Tritonal has a message for fans: The title for our latest full length album U & ME is a very simple pointer towards Unity & Love that we feel is inherent in life itself. Ultimately, we are all connected — in fact everything in the Universe is connected. Music allows us to express that connection through sound. There is so much inherent divisiveness in our culture today and we wanted to flip the “you vs me” or the “us vs them” dialogue on its head. Hopefully, our music can act as a light that shines upon one simple truth — love. Tickets for Tritonal’s U & ME tour are set to go on sale this Friday, October 12th. In case you’ve been living under a rock for the last 12 months in the deep house scene, you will have had definitely heard of fresh female production sensation, Nora Van Elken. With a sound which features: EDX style driving plucks, crisp refined deep house percussion and those ever so classic soulful vocal samples. Is this female production the future of deep house and house in general? Well, we definitely think so & it is our pleasure to present her debut self-titled album here at Your EDM. This album features the streaming hits, ‘All I Need’, ‘Over You’ and ‘Highway’ with incredible additions such as, ‘I’ll Be There’ with its garage feel topline and insane plucked drop. Imagine neon filled streets, magnetic propelled cars and a Tron inspired, space driven society. Well this visual representation isn’t too far away from txhe sonic and audio journey created by F.O.O.L on his latest E.P in collaboration with Tasty Network, ‘Highway’. This talented Swedish producer manages to create a synth and cinematic inspired EP which transports us into the future. Favourites of the EP which really stick out are, ‘Waking Up’ with Laura Brehm which features dark melodies and emotional build ups for a euphoric and snare driven climax. Highway also as the title track provides a perfect intro the EP’s journey and direction with its tire spinning sample introduction, this is one of those tracks that needs to be listened to in surround sound for sure for the full experience. Enjoy Highway! This article was first published on Your EDM. Source: F.O.O.L Team up with Tasty Network on Cinematic Journey with New EP, ‘Highway’ Source

From the foggy streets of Germany Not Your Dope has built his name imprinting his original and signature bass driving sound of many viral remixes and originals. These include viral remixes for major artists such as: Matstubs, The Chainsmokers and MAX. His portfolio of incredible originals also include, ‘5AM’, ‘The Fall‘ with Mia Valle and the inspiring, ‘Indestructible’ featuring MAX. Well Sunday marked another step in the development of Not Your Dope’s sound with him dropping his latest EP entitled, ’21’. The EP features three distinct tracks, Dawn, Desire and Pull Up. Dawn and Desire both feature vocoder inspired build ups to driving bass progressions reminiscent of that classic Justice sound . Pull Up on the other hand takes a more urban feel with its dark percussion, vocal samples and melodies climaxing in a much stronger trap orientated drop. This EP is a great presentation of the German producer’s talent, flexing and adapting to different musical styles. This is one of those EPs that definitely should be given a solid session to listen to and jam out. Excited to hear which track you guys most resonate with on, ’21’. Only last week, JOYRYDE was teasing new material coming out on OWSLA, something he’d “never done before.” Based on that statement alone, it’s not hard to make the connection to EP or album. But now, Skrillex has possibly let on more than he was aware; that, or, it’s a cheeky little peek at JOYRYDE’s now-confirmed album, BRAVE. The album title was revealed in a tweet from Skrillex this evening which might have been missed as he also confirmed the name of his collaboration with JOYRYDE, “AGEN WIDA.” The track title was obviously the focus of the tweet, but fans definitely got more than they bargained for. No matter the case, we now have a confirmed album title and a (presumably) finished collaboration. So, if you’ve been holding off, you can get hyped now. @enJOYRYDE pic.twitter.com/ZHu13Tey5k — Skrillex (@Skrillex) October 9, 2018 Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. We don’t get to cover a lot of jungle here at Your EDM. It’s not that we don’t like jungle – quite the opposite, actually – but despite its recent resurgence in more mainstream bass music, jungle record labels tend to keep to themselves and are a bit protective of their material. It’s understandable, really, with all the rampant sampling that goes on with tracks from this patriarch of bass music. Jungle beats, breaks, amens and vocals have been sampled so much in other bass music genres and EDM at large that it’s almost impossible to trace the source tracks, even if you know where to look. Needless to say, we were delighted when Liondub International and one of its most prolific producers, Saxxon, decided to open up access to Your EDM not only for its new jungle releases but also to give the bass music community a much needed bass music history lesson. Saxxon’s new huge album Action Saxxon – Jungle Odyssey came out on September 21 and features 23 Saxxon-packed jungle raves featuring artist collabs from all over the bass music spectrum. AK1200, MC Coppa, Navigator and Blackout Ja are just a few of the artists on this LP which, while the tracks are more recent, is still quite the bass music history lesson in itself. It does commemorate ten years of Liondub, after all. To give jungle fans old and new even more of a crash course in junglist tings, Your EDM asked Saxxon to come up with a playlist of his top ten jungle tracks of all time, and he did not disappoint. These tracks form the bedrock of jungle and, effectively, all of bass music. Pair that with this new LP and you’ve basically got a junglist PhD! Get ready to skank, rudebwoys. Die – Special Treat I will never get sick of this floating bassline and sample combination. One of so many insanely good DJ Die tracks that stand the test of time. LTJ Bukem – Music I thought Logical Progression was really pretentious when it was happening, mainly because of the people who were into “intelligent DnB” had a superiority thing going on, funnily enough, and that didn’t compute in my junglist brain. Take trendiness away, add Danny’s charm and PFMs ingenuity and you got a golden era of sound to enjoy. Just Jungle – Pause Tearout Trouble On Vinyl and boy is it big trouble. Does literally exactly as it says on the tin and these amens are beautifully engineered. Pretty sure you could play this as a new tune today and no one would question it. Rebel MC- Champion DJ Come on admit it! Every DJ loves a track that bigs up the DJ! This one features an amazing vocal flow and tune combo. Full of foundation vibe. https://youtu.be/Kx_8FEgO7rk Shy FX ft David Boomah- On The Run David Boomah graces a lot of early Shy FX numbers so hard to pick one. But this one rocks and I’m fortunate enough to have a Saxxon Dubplate of it. This Style and many other Ebony Records tunes I have great memories of. “Becoming a wolf…” Dillinja – Unexplored Terrain This one is super deep other worldly jungle hard step at it’s best! A-Sides – Tear / Big Request Two stone cold A Sides tearout tracks. Tear with its intense powerful vocal intro building and building to such a pleasing subs and amen drop. Big Request has always sounded so pushed but I absolutely love it just as it is. Big and powerful. Both tunes would go off today. Kenny Ken – Everyman Everyone loves a bit of Kenny and this tune sums up a lot of his respectful tendencies. I have to ask to remix it! B-Jam – Dr Funkula (DJ Hype Remix) Both mixes of this put a very cheeky smile on my face. If only modern melodic jump up had this much charm! Zinc – Super Sharp Shooter (both mixes) If you weren’t spelling out the title and hanging on the big swish sound before the drop were you even raving? Love the extended bassline VIP too!! Action Saxxon – Jungle Odyssey is out now on Liondub International and can be purchased on Beatport or streamed on Spotify and Soundcloud. This article was first published on Your EDM. The rampant drug use at Defqon.1 Festival in Sydney this year left two dead, three in critical condition, several more hospitalized, and 700 others who sought medical assistance on site. The event has been plagued with overdoses for years, but the numbers from this year’s installment were truly staggering. The NSW Government and Premier Gladys Berejiklian have since been doing everything in their power to shut down the controversial hardstyle festival for good. Meanwhile, a group of 60 Australian musicians, festivals, industry figures, and health personnel got together and wrote up a proposal to start an “open dialogue” instead of shutting down such events. Offering experience, skills and research, the open letter called for further discussion. On top of it all, a father who lost his son during Defqon.1 three years ago spoke on the matter. “Don’t stop the festival,” he said. “This is normal for kids to get together. Get rid of the dealers. When these guys commit several murders, it’s mass murder. They should get life.” Relocate to Canberra? In midst of the debate, ACT Greens member Shane Rattenbury has come forward, offering to bring the embattled festival to Canberra. It’s there the politician says Defqon.1 Festival could work to “minimize drug harm for festival patrons” through testing. The letter addressed to festival organizers Q-Dance asks them to consider a new home for the festival in the nation’s capital. “As you are undoubtedly aware, the ACT hosted Australia’s first pill testing trial at the Groovin the Moo festival in April,” he writes. “This marked a significant step forward in drug law reform efforts to minimize harm for recreational drug use.” “We hope that you are encouraged by the success of Canberra’s initial trial, and we look forward to working with you in bringing Defcon.1 to the ACT.” Q-Dance has yet to respond to Rattenbury’s letter. Your EDM Q&A: Zeke Beats Has a Message for the ‘Humanoid 2.0’
Cupe posted a topic in DJ Headquarters
Just when people were getting used to the combined forces of Eprom and Alix Perez as Shades the super-metal and super-dark less-than-halftime outfit that rocked Bassrush Massive, Eprom decided to join forces with Zeke Beats. The Australian hard halftimer whose crazy beats and sub bass synths have been rocking Buygore, Dim Mak and Deadbeats this past year met Eprom on tour, the two clicked creatively and subsequently came out with one of the most interesting dual singles this year, Humanoid 2.0, out now on Noisia’s DIVISION imprint. Inspired by the video game Berzerk, the “Humanoid 2.0” single has early video game-style vocal samples and it and its b side “Soundboy Funeral” are heavy beyond the comprehension of most bass music fans, with rattling sub bass making up the actual melodies. They’re also so slow that their sub bass style is sub-halftime, and an interesting study in what happens when bass is slowed down to a crawl so that listeners can really examine it. Spoiler: it’s awesome. If that wasn’t enough, Eprom, Zeke and company decided to design an actual Humanoid 2.0 video game to go with the singles. Done in early 8bit style, it will remind gaming fans of old Nintendo games like Pitfall or Megaman. While it’s basic, the game is fun and has a lot of little touches like players can choose to be either Eprom or Zeke beats, the characters; voices sound like the guys and, most importantly, the music is an 8bit interpretation of “Humanoid 2.0” itself. Beginning to end, Humanoid 2.0 is an interesting and innovative release which has made Zeke Beats a producer bass music fans should definitely keep an eye on. Your EDM sat down with him recently to talk super-slow bass music shop, to find out how he hooked up with Eprom and to learn what’s next for the Australian. Here’s what he came up with. Also make sure to scroll to the end of this article for the Humanoid 2.0 video game link. Humanoid 2.0 is being seen as somewhat of a breakthrough release, but you’ve said it just began with a new voice-to-text app. How did it develop from there? Zeke Beats: I was visiting Eprom at the time in Portland. We had gotten this new AudioUnit (Plogue ChipSpeech https://www.plogue.com/products/chipspeech.html). We started experimenting with all of the modulation parameters and characters you could choose. Eprom had his laptop plugged into his old hifi system at the I am a fagget table and began to work on a simple yet bass-heavy beat and the skeleton of Humanoid 2.0 was born in all its slimy glory. How did the two of you come to work together in general? We’ve been mates for quite some time. I originally supported Eprom in Perth, Western Australia on his first Australian tour, and a friendship was created. Since then whenever I would visit the U.S. I would usually jump in on sessions with him for the fun of it whilst learning a lot of neat techniques which he would show me! You’ve said it took about two years for “Humanoid 2.0” and “Soundboy Funeral” to be released. Aside from the fact that you both have lots of other stuff going on, was there a production reason it took so long to get these two tracks to a place you both felt they were fit to be released? We both knew this track was very special to us and we really just wanted it to come out properly, i.e. we wanted the artwork to have a certain look, we knew we wanted to do vinyl, digital and a video game. Division Recordings executed this perfectly and we both couldn’t be happier. The entire feel and aesthetic were captured precisely! You both seem to be really into not just halftime but taking sub bass beats to about as slow as they can go lately, and this is definitely the case on “Soundboy Funeral.” What interests you both about slowing tempos down and how did you get to that level with these tracks? Slower tracks with low bpm range give you much more space between transients, meaning that you can really push the sub frequencies without as many frequent interruptions from the kicks or snares. This isn’t the only reason why we decided to make it so slow, but we hope that our listeners are able to grasp a vision or story from the songs we create. The slow, morbid tempo of this song is a perfect fit for the feeling we wanted to portray. DIVISION seems to be a great platform for halftime and sort of more experimental bass music, but what were your reasons for working with and releasing on this imprint for Humanoid 2.0? We felt they were a perfect fit for the record to be released on. Thys from Noisia showed a lot of interest in this song when we first made it. The Gaslamp Killer dropped it (a release from DIVISION) at Noisia Invites in Amsterdam a couple years ago and that is how he came across it. Zeke and I have a lot of respect for Noisia and their team and we knew that they would meet the vision which we had for the release. We must of course talk about the game. How did you guys decide to make Humanoid 2.0 into a game? Who helped you code and put it together? When I was creating the screen graphics for the single artwork, I had the idea of doing it as a 16 bit game startup screen. The actual humanoid voice is generated by ChipSpeech, and in particular the Otto Mozer voice, a lovingly emulated version of an original design by Professor Forrest Mozer. This speech synthesis algorithm was made famous in the video game Berzerk, which features a vocal snippet that robotically intones the phrase “get the humanoid.” We extended this to create the vocal hook. So video games are at the center of the genesis of this song in the first place. To us, it always made sense to make a game around the release. I approached my friend Alex Rehberg, (http://alexrehberg.com/) who works on the video game RUST, to write the code for a lightweight web/mobile game, and we began prototyping the infinite runner style game that you see now. The whole thing came together pretty rapidly, with Alex bashing out code on the Phaser platform and me generating the graphics and sound at the same time. We did it in a couple weekends. How did you change/render the music for the game to make it sound a bit more early 90s video game-esque? Eprom did the entire sound design for the game, which was made using Chipsounds and old video game samples. The Damage sounds of when the characters get hurt are our real voices. We basically just did a quick-and-dirty 8 bit version of the music by redoing the synths in chipsounds and changing some arrangements. Do you plan to put more games together with more tracks as a series or is this just a one-off thing? For now this is just a one-off type of thing. The whole process has been bery organic and we both like things to happen organically and unforced. Doing a video game was a ton of fun but also a lot of work. What other releases do you have planned together, individually or with your other projects that you can talk about? Quite a bit of stuff but nothing we can say at the moment. How are you closing out the festival season? Any tours or shows coming up together or separately? I have a ton of dates coming up as I’ll be touring with Space Jesus & Minnesota on their fall tours. See all the dates on my Facebook. Eprom and I will be playing a show together in Denver at Cervantes which is part of his 2018 tour. Humanoid 2.0 is out now on DIVISION and is available to purchase on Beatport or to stream on Soundcloud or Spotify. To check out the Humanoid 2.0 game is available by clicking here. For the first time ever, pop star Taylor Swift is speaking publicly about politics. With 112 million followers on Instagram alone, T-Swift is one of the biggest influencers on social media. While it’s a tool for primarily sharing photos and videos, the Tennessee resident is using the platform to voice her opinions on the upcoming midterm election on November 6th. “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions,” Swift starts up. “But due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.” “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.” “I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans,” she says. “No matter their skin color, gender or who they love.” She goes on to express her strong disapproval of one candidate in particular. “As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me.” Swift says she’ll be casting her votes for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representative. She reminds her followers, “October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info.” Taylor Swift Talks Politics Read every word of this message from @taylorswift13 If even a fraction of her 83.5M followers go to https://t.co/sbOmiO5pXF, register & VOTE we can restore checks & balances to the #GOP who control ALL 3 branches of gov't. https://t.co/KgQoTfhrru matters YOUR VOTE MATTERS! pic.twitter.com/CbUZy1uXG9 — Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) October 8, 2018 This article was first published on Your EDM. Travis Scott delivered a thrilling and genre-defying performance on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, which has everyone talking. Live renditions of choice tracks from Astroworld came to life on stage with a little help from the rapper’s friends, John Mayer and Kevin Parker of Tame Impala. An engaging medley of “Skeletons” and “Astrothunder” stunned the studio audience and those watching from home. Plus, fan-favorite track “Sicko Mode” took form with a delightfully weird visual presentation to match. Travis Scott’s Astroworld has made an unmistakable impact on music in 2018. Upon the album’s release, all 17 tracks charted on Billboard‘s signature Hot 100 list. The album, packed full of star-studded collaborations, boasted tracks with Drake, Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Young Thug, 21 Savage, and more. That being so, bringing Mayer and Tame Impala on SNL to perform over those artists was an interesting choice, but an amazing move nonetheless. A week after Kanye West stirred up political controversy following the show, this is exactly what SNL needed. Watch official uploads of the performance below and be sure to listen to Astroworld in full if you haven’t already. The Swedish House Mafia hype is real. Once again, cryptic posters have appeared signaling the group’s much-anticipated return, this time in their homeland of Stockholm, Sweden. The poster design captured in the photo below features the same imagery SHM shared on socials a while back. In a possible collaboration with Nike, the new posters feature three swooshes, the word “Stockholm” x three, and an image of a model that remind of visuals used during their reunion performance at Ultra Miami in 2018. Earlier this summer an Axwell Λ Ingrosso billboard for their single “Dancing Alone” would strategically glitch out, only to launch a loading screen that flashed three iconic dots — which symbolize SHM. Honestly, at this point, three of almost anything triggers Swedish House Mafia talk, including these Nike swooshes. Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s project will be put on the back burner while they work on Swedish House Mafia. “[We] will actually put it on the shelf,” Ingrosso previously explained. “As I usually say, there are three dots, it’s not two plus a dot. But we will definitely still do our individual stuff.” With a 2019 tour on the horizon, the group certainly has our undivided attention. All aboard the Swedish House Mafia hype train! The legend Paul van Dyk is back with the first single off of his upcoming album, Music Rescues Me, of the same name. PVD is joined by Plumb on this track, who did the vocals on his 2012 single “I Don’t Deserve You.” The two combine for a stirring progressive trance anthem and the accompanying video has a fun Stranger Things vibe to it, filmed in the lush hills of Los Angeles. The song starts out with some airy guitar chords to set the mood before some production flourishes and Plumb’s vocals come in. The chord progression continues over the beat as Plumb continues to sing and give the song its character. After a slight build up, the drop hits, and it’s classic PVD trance melodies. From there, the bridge sees Plumb sing the song’s singular message, “Your music rescues me,” without question a sentiment felt by many of Paul’s fans, over layered synths. After a moment of synths, some piano keys come in and the song builds up to another drop. The video follows three teenage-ish (I’m assuming they’re teenagers, they’re on bikes) Los Angelenos as they try and track down the source of some mysterious sheet music they’ve received. They have the coordinates and traverse all over a slew of Los Angeles locations, from Runyon Canyon to La Brea to Ferndell Park. The youths are rewarded for their efforts with a vinyl autographed by Paul himself. Paul will be debuting his new album, Music Rescues Me, October 12th in London. From there he will take a brief tour of North America to close out the fall. Tour dates below. Make sure to watch the video for Paul van Dyk’s newest single “Music Rescues Me” ft. Plumb, out now on VANDIT records. November 9 – Ravine – Atlanta, GA November 10 – Sound-Bar – Chicago, IL November 15 – Beta – Denver, CO November 16 – 45 East – Portland, OR November 21 – 1015 Folsom – San Francisco, CA November 23 – Dreamstate SoCal – San Bernardino, CA November 24 – The Palace – Calgary, AB November 30 – Celebrities Nightclub – Vancouver, BC December 1 – Stereo Live – Dallas, TX December 7 – Avant Gardner – New York, NY This article was first published on Your EDM. Deadmau5 rarely has a filter on social media, and it’s earned him both praise from his biggest fans as well as criticism from some of his most staunch detractors. Yesterday, deadmau5 found himself in particularly turgid waters as various comments severely angered the LGBT community who accused him of transphobic remarks. See below: The various comments were accused of being both homophobic and transphobic. Though not explicitly “anti” any particular group, the comments represent ideologies that have become normalized in society, and are now being actively fought against by these groups who simply want inclusion. i wasnt trying to make blatant transphobic statements, just got into a heated arguement with some dude online said something dumb and the internet took it way into somewhere unintended. I've since deleted the tweets, im not that kind of person. my apologies. https://t.co/eUJtjgmYAY — Goat lord (@deadmau5) October 8, 2018 Thank you. I’m glad the tweets have been deleted, and that you’ve clarified how you feel. I’ve said stupid stuff, too. It’s what you do with it that matters. It will mean a hell of a lot to my daughter to know you don’t feel this way. — Amanda Jette Knox (@MavenOfMayhem) October 8, 2018 Photo via Rukes.com | Screenshot via EDM.com This article was first published on Your EDM. Drug smugglers are having to become more and more creative with their methods of transportation. A new report from the Australian Border Force states that officers found over half a tonne (approximately 1100 pounds) or MDMA in “sausage-making machines” in Sydney. The meat-mincing machines were found on a shipment from Turkey in September. The street value of the find was around $40 million USD, enough to make around 1.7 million pressed pills. The operation was taken over by Australian Federal Police (AFB) who replaced the stash with counterfeit drugs and set up a sting operation to uncover any culprits directly related to the drugs. Three men were arrested at a supermarket in Auburn, New South Wales who are said to be part of a “larger syndicate.” “Had this [MDMA] seizure made its way to Australian streets, countless lives would have been affected,” said Federal police Detective Superintendent Kirsty Schofield. “Seizures like this don’t address the issues of demand … but stopping almost half a tonne goes a long way to reducing the harm these drugs can cause our communities.” via Mixmag This article was first published on Your EDM.
