Ryan Komes is 5'11 with sandy blonde hair and piercing green eyes. Komes enjoys an occasional glass of chardonnay with dinner before dessert by the pool. Please tell us, how long have you been playing for and what lead you to this kind of career? A couple of weeks after I turned 18 i made up that i had previous experience & scored myself a residency at a club on the gold coast.. I'm 23 now so it was a few years ago. I couldn't even beatmatch.. those were crazy times. You’re involved with Bomb Squad. Tell us a bit about that and how it came about? I have known the bombs away boys since high school, infact thomas was the one who got me started producing years ago. Naturally one thing lead to another! What genre will most people get to experience in one of your sets and if you had to choose one, what has been your most memorable gig to date and why? I have really started to focus alot more on fun bouncy house tracks, still drop the occasional dubstep and moombah track but mainly bouncy fun stuff - people like that. What weapons are you using for your live sets and production? An MAUDIO Axiom 61 keyboard, MAUDIO Profire 610 audio interface and an above average collection of samples and VSTS. A wild 'Laptop DJ’ appears! Love them or hate them and why? I really couldn't care less about what other DJ's use to deliver the goods and I don't think it matters as long as they rock it, that's what it's all about anyway, amirite? What are you currently listening to in your car or on your iPod? A sweet mix of shit I burnt the other day of biggie. some new jay z, eminem freestyles & some stuff that i got on promo from global pr pool. What other Aussies DJ/Producers do you rate? Nick Thayer is boss, just seen his last stuff signed to Skrillex's OWLSA label. That guy is going places & he deserves it! He is definitely gonna help moombah get started properly in Aus. And my homeboys Bombs Away are killing it also. Their remix of Jam Xpress & Seany B's 'Everybody Get Up' sitting on top of the Aria Club charts for the third week running.. word! Can you give us an ADJF exclusive on what’s on the horizon for Komes? I personally am starting to concentrate on getting some original productions out there, some fun bouncy stuff like what I am all about when DJ'ing. An underground moombahton project has also been underway with another producer and myself for the past few months. We have nearly got our first EP finished, and it is some solid stuff. It achaly means hardware accessories directly related to the use and function of a turntable and, where necessary, the stylus (ie. platters, tone arms, faders etc). I will move the thread for you chief.
