Nanotechnology operates at the molecular level, so tiny that it’s measured in billionths of metres, and it’s changing everything, from medicine to big data. The micro revolution might now be heading for vinyl, a material that’s barely changed since the ’40s. Last week at the Hi-End Audio Show in Taiwan, Japanese company Ulvac unveiled samples of records that are nano-coated in the chemical molybdenum. Ulvac claims the new tech – which is commonly employed in the semiconductor industry – can be used to protect vinyl records from mold, scratches and static charges caused by handling. The updated material also has the potential to resolve poor heat conductivity in vinyl, which could mean the end of warping. The coating was developed by Ulvac’s Taiwan vice CEO Clare Wei, who started listening to vinyl records last year. Wei invested more than US$4.64 million on R&D for the project, which has since received patent rights in the US, Japan, China and Taiwan. [via Taipei Times] In other news, an Austrian company has filed a patent to develop what would be the world’s first ‘high definition vinyl’ technology. Also, new pressing machines have been developed to speed up vinyl manufacturing.

Martin Garrix’s awaited MTV documentary The Ride can now be streamed in full from kind souls on YouTube. The film follows Garrix on his intense journey from his first €30 paid gig through his Ultra performance in 2015 and more. Clocking in at nearly 45 minutes, there’s a lot to go through and you don’t want to miss any of it. Achal zero to hero.

Mysteryland USA has delivered a matchless festival experience in the past couple years with its unique collection of performers, art installations, interactive exhibits, and more. Located on the same grounds that the Woodstock ’69 affair took place, the 3-day event in Bethel, New York will take place on June 10th-13th and features a diversified lineup of artists like ODESZA, Skrillex, Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, Claude Vonstroke, Gesaffelstein, and many more. While the festival’s lineup continues to grow and cultivate into a unique collection of artists from every genre, the stages of Mysteryland have always excited attendees with their impressive designs, visuals, and sound systems. A fan favorite – the Boat Stage – returns this year to bring back its signature roster of hip-hop, future funk, bass and trap sounds. The stage has a long, celebrated history as one of Mysteryland’s staple stages. It first premiered at Holland’s Mysteryland festival in 2011, and since then has traveled around the world from The Netherlands to Chile, eventually making its debut at the initial Mysteryland USA festival in 2014. Three years ago, the boat stage woo’d over MLUSA’s first-ever crowd with its picturesque design – an enormous wooden ship with butterflies as sails. The stage provided listeners with the finest bass and trap sounds with artists like Chase & Status, Zomboy, Paper Diamond, Big Gigantic, and a very special debut partnership of Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus aka Dillstradamus. In 2015, the return of the Boat Stage supported a new design that was resonant of an industrial steamboat complete with a balcony for festival goers to dance on. Paired with Bro Safari’s animal house boat raid and a brave girl who jumped off the top story of the structure (she wasn’t hurt!), the stage proved to be one of the wilder places to be for the weekend. Trap, dubstep, and moombahton artists like FIGHT CLVB, TJR, Mystereo, Doctor P, and ILOVEMAKONNEN threw the dance floor into mayhem, while Gramatik and GRIZ formed into Grizmatik to bring their infectious funk on Saturday night. This year’s model will be sure to impress the Mysteryland USA crowd once again thanks to a new dragon-style design. With more artist announcements to come in the upcoming weeks, Mysteryland’s third edition of the Boat Stage will be sure to remain the spot-to-be for this year’s festival. Here's music because I'm not sure why.

Four Tet has an idea to turn the London Trocadero into a top notch nightclub. He says he wants to create something similar to Berlin’s Berghain. This German nightclub boasts a big sound system and a closing time that lasts late into the morning hours. The location that Four Tet has picked is nothing short of perfect. The Trocadero is a historic London building that originally opened in 1896 as a restaurant. The building added a cabaret after World War 1 and eventually closed to the public in 1965. It was relaunched in 1984 as a cinema and shopping complex for tourists. Now, it sits partially vacant. The new venue seems to be in the early stages of planning. Hebden’s goal of creating a dominate London nightclub starts with the Trocadero. He needs big investors in order to obtain this building. The property value is around $300 million U.S., reach out to Hebden for any investment proposals.

It seems that with every passing day, there is another artist showing their discontent with the dance music community. From Mat Zo to deadmau5, many producers have taken jabs at the collective group of people who listen to EDM. This time, Chris Lake had a few words to share about his thoughts on the current state of the EDM tolerance within the community. Although his short rant was posted a couple years ago, it somehow made its way back to the public eye. In his rant, Lake talks about how each genre of EDM likes to think of themselves as the best while hating on every other genre. According to the Scottish producer, “deep down, we each think our musical taste is the right choice, and everyone else is wrong.” Perhaps this narrow-minded listening of EDM is due to the fact that some people are too lazy or afraid to venture out into other genres of dance music. Once they find a sound they like, they try to find other songs that are similar to that song. This creates a chain reaction that leads to people sticking to one genre and failing to recognize the beauty of another. While it is okay to have a favorite style of EDM, Chris Lake’s point is that we should not hate on everything else just because we find something we like. Being open to new sounds is the key to music discovery, and we could all use a bit more tolerance.

There's now 10gb of new mixes up on radio, so treat yourself to new tunes while you're sitting around on your computer. Or in your car. Or banging your missus. Just fucking tune in otherwise what's the point of having it?

Also if anyone has a bunch of mixes and FTP let me know and I'll set you up so you can just send them directly to the server

http://www.ausdjforums.com/radio/ So I found out today Shoutcast reset basically everyone, and the IPs were reassigned. This meant our radio was fucked (it was actually linking to some other station). I've updated everything tonight and will be uploading a bunch of fresh mixes including all the shit from previous ADJF Meats. If you have some new mixes you want on rotation link them here. If you have previously DJ'd on ADJF Radio live I need to create you a new DJ profile before you can again. So start listening to radio again. And do more live mixes. And post a mix. And click the ads.
