tittsworth-wtf has that line "everybody on drugs" and a couple weeks back i bought this awesome track OCELOT-Our Time (treasure fingers mix) which has a bit about "we're gonna get drunk, we're gonna get drugs, we're gonna get fucked", but its prob a bit too effectsted to sample (but track rocks!) for movie samples check human traffic. f'n classic film, for thos that aint seen it, grab it. they most def must say something to that effect. havent watched it in a minute but ive watched it plenty of times (when they break into song is a legendary...) in regards to the track. loved it, break down and climax into the wonk is awesome. love to see it come into fruition

How do you beatmix (not the question you think...)?
eggssell replied to SourceRaver's topic in DJ Headquarters
i do the one ear method and usually have my mind not counting but going "doof doof doof" to the beat in my ear, and then my mind listens to the monitor to see if it goes, if not i start to adjust the pitch. i dont think i actually take note which is faster or slower and find about 40% i go the wrong way at first (yes i know i need lots of practice...ha ha). and i kind of just keep doing that "doof doof doof" in my head to the music in the ear until that rhythm seems to match the monitor. then my mind stops its doofing and i listen for double bass, double snares to fine tune. [its not really doof doof doof, but kind of but no real f sound, like replicating the kick drum] -
yeah i do but im usually behind the great wall, then when i gets home its not in the posts i aint visited i forget to look. cant say the music is my cup o tea (not that i dont like it) but some things: yeah the beat is ff the hook man. i love the ummm laser cut/ back scratch sounds (ha ha im no producer so dont know the technical term), but its the higher sound in the percussion but not quite the cymbals. i love the breakdown at 1.30, and yeah the pause is perfect.

beatport charts US have billboard charts for just about every genre

one way the ABN does help is if you register for the GST system, you can get the gst back for anything bought. of course theres lots of little other rules (about a book shelf worth) of how this all works.
-
aiight im a bust it a little simpler: * in regards to OP question, ABN has nothing to do with whether you can claim it as a deduction * if you have some sort of business structure and are lodging a business tax return: - gear costing less than $1,000 can claim in the year bought - gear costing more than $1,000 claim 15% in first year, and then 30% in next two years, and then 15% in the fourth year * if you have earnt any income from using your gear but will not be submitting a business return: - you must claim the cost of the gear over the life of the equipment (the guide for mixers and speakers is 6.66 years, so i guess everything else kind of fits in here except laptops, so that will mean you can claim about 15% a year) clear as mudd. heh

hey lloydc i was goin off that OP said "using traktor". if not using traktor then yes can use mixxx, torq and mix vibes i think.
-
yo from my understanding no. traktor have locked down vinyl control to audio 4, audio 8 or certified mixers. note also you will need traktor scratch /duo pro not just traktor duo/ pro.

WHATS EVERYBODYS ALL TIME FAVOURITE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD WEBSITE
eggssell replied to christianfloyd's topic in DJ Headquarters
y'all beatporters tried juno? much slower and clumsy but definitely ends up cheaper. especially for buying entire releases. sometimes for the cost of two you get about three to four tracks (i got a 9 track ep for about the cost of 5.5 tracks). and thats not even comparing it to beatport. the 9 track ep was about 13-15% cheaper on juno. -

junodownload for me. i use to be beatport, and i still use it for following labels and artists (much better interface then juno), but then i go and buy off juno cuz ends up cheaper. however, heaps of US stuff comes a month later to juno or never. -

well dependent on when you bought it, but it will actually be over 4 tax returns (i.e 1-15%, 2-30%, 3-30%, 4-balance). NOTE: this is only for a company's tax return, and a small business eligible for simplified tax rules at that Decline in value for a personal tax return is different (in summary write off straight away if under $300, otherwise over its life). And the final note in Tax 101: do not be mistaken that you are getting in your return the cost of th gear, what you are getting is savings in tax equal to your marginal tax rate! i.e if your marginal tax rate is 20%, and you spend $1,500 then you are saving $300 in tax over the number of years you depreciate it (not each year). Next week we will talk about Fringe Benefits Tax
-
ha ha. i am an accountant but the myth is we all know tax, when actually tax legislation are government rules, and differ greatly from accounting rules. so a lot of accountants dont actually know tax!... i know a little bit about a little bit. but no worries see a tax proffessional. i did check out the tax deductibility of gear, and basically for a small business (i.e. not personal return); you can claim in full in the year the gear is bought 100% of the cost as a deduction for all items less than $1K. if it costs more then $1K; it goes to a pool where 15% can be claimed in the first year, then 30% each year after that.
-
the tax deductibility is not based on whether you have an ABN. its tax deductible if you have used it to gain the income you put in taxable income. so that goes for anything that helped you get income: music, travel, insurance, admin fees, etc. in terms of gear you need to depreciate it over a period (i.e. cant claim it all at once), though there are some small business benefits that allows you to claim at an accelerated period, id need to relook at it. with an abn i guess you have a registered business? do you invoice via a company structure?? as DJing will be viewed as personal services income, any surplus profit from what the business earns will be counted towards your own taxable income (this was to prevent people paying just company tax rates!) anywho i can post up what i came up with when i was doing my business case, which used the model of creating a company to invoice and pay for expenses.
-
yeah its from spacetek us. you can get the spacetek cd/ laptop stands and clamps here but cant get the booths. not that i could afford the $3K USD tag anywho... ha ha yeah ive been bustin my head trying to find something that is stable, while at the sametime will not look too fugly in my lounge room and not too pricey. i.e. the wrestling table from bunnings was vetoed. i too wouldnt mind suggestions. i want two tt's in standard pos, a mixer, and then risen a laptop and an akai mpd24. i dont really look at the laptop while playing just to choose songs so not too fussed if thats not right in front. though this might change when i start controlling the decks C & D via the mpd24, but im donkeys away from that..... ha ha
-
yeah man other then the dex tables, or coffin plus stand, your only real option is do it yerself. ive been looking! right now im on some glss thing i bought from freedom a few years back. not sure what its meant to be, maybe a I am a fagget occassional... but basically its an upside down U that can fit tt (standard pos) and a mixer just exactly. so nowhere to put a laptop stand. EDIT: oh what i have is called a console (???) and its for the living room. mines black glass BUT what i want is this!!
