how does it go for mixing in battle. i couldnt imagine reaching over to control pitch?
-
hey turntable people (not to be mistaken w/ turntablists ) do you spin in standard (tone arm & pitch controls to the right of the platter) or battle (tone arm & pitch controls to the top of the platter). just curious. i spin standard only because my current setup which was using an existing glass shelf type thing which we already owned, and have come to like having my pitch where it is.

Stanton (ST150) Stanton Turntable $299.00 Technics (1200) Technics 1200SL Mark 2 Turntable $600.00 damn thats cheap. the ST150 cost me $650! no indication of whether it is new or old though.... EDIT: called them, the st150's are ex-trade in. still looks like some good stuff but best go in i reckon

hey man welcome. i assume then you have traktor pro (and there is nothing wrong with using traktor!) and not traktor scratch pro. is there an upgrade thing you can pay? if so, then why not do that and you can then use the cdj's with time control cds?? just a suggestion

yeah man voted. liked it (not cuz you asked cuz thats sneaky.. he he). nice mixup of transitions, i really liked the heartbreaker/ devotion transition. you know i only just realised my mixer has a manual filter effect!!! and i was gonna learn how to use traktors. what an idjit. anywho, yeah it was nice man. and +1 on the kid cudi song. i know guetta's bigg but i dont really know his stuff except that akon one they play at the gym all the time, which i dont like. but cudi on the ther hand rocks the kasbah. -

hey all beatport 99 cent sale is on again http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/bea ... he-decade/ the links will only show 10 per genre but as before just search for anything older then the last couple of months and its 99 cents. also anyone know the deal w/ restricted songs. ive been dying to get the dance me track by riva starr but it keeps saying restricted. i thought maybe it was a staged release like US first etc, but its been a couple weeks and its still restricted.

oh yeah so was wondering on peoples thoughts out their in the mobile industry about the above? in summary i was figuring to go mobile i would need this digital shifting license; an ARIA license; and a PPCA license. is that it? EDIT: just re-read pills and rhemyd's stuff. so you dont need any license from ARIA (aside fromt he Digital Format Shifting one) because the venue has to have it right (if applicable?)
-
sorry to bring this hot potato back rhemyd you said but while snooping around at license info (i too am considering mobile to help pay bills) i found this doco (admittedly dated 1.5 yrs ago: http://www.aria.com.au/documents/003A.D ... .07.08.pdf which has the lines: "Do I need this licence if I buy my music in electronic form? This will depend on the terms and conditions of the supplier of the electronic form of music. For example, suppliers such as iTunes and Bigpond music have terms and conditions on their website which indicate that music bought from those services can only be used for non-commercial, personal use. Even if you have legitimately purchased music from these services, you will still require a licence to use the reproduction for commercial purposes." which reminds me of back in the VHS Video Rental Days ( i too looked into that as a biz to pay for bills...ha ha), rental places would pay i think about $60 to $80 (something like that) for each video even though you could buy it at k-mart for $25, only because the kmart one was not for commercial use. even though it was essentially the same thing. havent read the beatport or juno t&c's but it would be worth looking at (stupid machine im on now won't open beatport, only beatportal)

damn that board is massive! and its only 16, how bigg is the 20
-
dont know the specifics, but im pretty sure just having one powerboard into another is already bad. even a power board running from a double adaptor is meant to be bad. ive got one powerboard that has 6 sockets with my lappy, a hard drive, and all the dj equip (2 TT's and a mixer). then a seperate one for the stereo. 10 things(??), you running four decks?
-
yeah get him to join!! and then some people will have to eat their words. he he http://www.ausdjforums.com/modules.php? ... sc&start=0

hmmmm i dont know if i agree w/ you there fully (of course im a brand noobian and your a dj, so i could be way offf). learning how to beat match, phrase match, and finding parts in the song that is best to mix in and out of the songs, yes should be learnt but that can be learnt on whatever platform you use. and of course track selection!! but does that mean you intend on going right backwards and start needle dropping like kool herc? i.e not "cheating" by cueing?? now that would be just crazy (and hard) using the tools of the future in my opinion does no way take away from what djiing is. if you can party rock a floor or mixtape, then you djiing. whether your using turntabels, cdjs, software only, an answering machine (ive seen this), an mpc with a few toy story toys (okay this was more production then djiing but it rocked!! we kept it on loop for about an hour.. if only you tube existed those days), you know whatever tickles your fancy.
-
i guess carl cox, richie hawtin & pete tong (dance), plus dmc champions craze & klever (turntablists cum dance) are just amateurs huh... he he.welcome.
