  1. Another alternative is to do garage parties and find a friend who has a massive subs in his ride. Plug into his mp3 input. Bonus light show with hazard flashers and smoke machine (diesel fuel, petrol engine)
  2. I always leave a lasting impression
  3. My powered sub has 500Wrms amp and its speaker chews up all its power. Full bore on sub and main amp on 1-3 and its still not balanced (ie no bone shaking bass) Bass need heaps of power.

  9. Interesting article I saw regarding the dumbing down of music quality.Once vinyl LPs and magnetic cartridges were the norm for music listening and then came along the casette deck that allowed you to copy /steal other peoples music . For the sake of convenience people now had a portable music device they could take and play at parties and in cars. They were not fussed that the casettes even with dolby, sounded awful. Next came CDs with less quality than vinyl but again easier to swap cds and store and carry around. With I pods the standard is again compromised for storage convenience and todays norm is 128kbps. Is anyone prepared to forgo compression and have 100 tracks in real time on an Ipod when they can have 3000 in ok quality? People are now happy to listen to average/poor quality music weather at home or at parties /clubs as long as it is passable. I put away my Stax electrostatic headphones, a long time ago
  10. Found them Thanks
  11. Hellow eveyone Do any of you know where I can find some sound effects to download and incorporate into my high class act. Sounds like Vomiting, pissing, farting, toilet flushing, screaming.police sirens (Australian) car accidents, punch ups.etc Would be most appreciated.
  12. Must have been Archie's pill head mate Mr Personality. Sold me the wrong xlr plug. took me ages to change pins. dick head.
  13. Bought a behringer amp from arsehole dj warehouse. One channel did not work. Phoned dj warehouse and was told to contact behringer direct as it was not an item the usually stocked and they could not help me. They haven't heard of the trade practices act. Behringer arranged a courier to pick up the amp and give me another one at no cost. Impressed with their service. D.J city usually provide great service and will spend time with you discusing your needs. They also let you negotiate a fair price. go there often.

    KAM 15" Sub

Re the sub. You can get a sub amp for 100 dollars -80watt. from Jaycar or the 150watt model. I bought the 80watt for home theatre and have used it for small gigs, it pumps out heaps of bass for its price. into a 150watt speaker. Lots of plug options also, rca input or in /out speaker feed which you might need. Went overboard sexing up the bass cabinet. Buying parts, grille, carpet corners,. handles etc,I could have bought a powered sub for what I spent.

    KAM 15" Sub

Sorry 150watts Jay car speakers. You will be line ball for output power 250watts assuming the sub draws 100watts a channel two 1/4 inputs. 2 banana plug outputs from amp to 1/4 mono plugs to sub should do for connections but get banana plugs that have screw clamps not solder connections. You dont want to be soldering broken connections at a gig A screwdriver is quicker.

    KAM 15" Sub

Hi D Jaz Would be interested to hear what Source says about this. From your previous thread looks like speaker A output would power your 170wattrms FOH speakers and Speaker B output will power your 200Watt RMS sub. Depends on the sensitivity of your speakers whether you achieve the correct balance between sub and mains. You may have no attenulation to make any corrections. Over to Source
  17. Dont charge any money or its back to Temp occ permit stage. If something goes wrong and you have charged admission you will be in serious trouble as will the home owner. I am legal and I do this shit all the time.
  18. Have it at someones house/farm, private party No permits required. 500 people is no problem Done it often at my house on standard quarter acre block. Police will close it down about 12-1am regardless.
  19. When I managed my first band on the Gold Coast in the 60s I would swap glass ashtrays at coffee bars and pubs, clubs with ashtrays with stickers of my bands name under the glass bottoms. They lasted for months as no one could be bothered removing them. Also posted signs in public where no one could reach them. No numbers just the band's name. After a while we began to get recognition.
  20. You would need a permit from the Council for place of public entertainment.Temporary occupancy permit Fire brigade permission, portable fire extinguishers, exit signs, emergency evacuation management plan. parking and parking attendants, maximum number of people permitted (1m sq. per person.) Health department approved toilet facilities. Food handlers licences.Advertising. marketing,security.electricity. etc.. It would be a logistics nightmare but if you can pull it off, great fun. With the cumulative knowledge you will acquire after doing one event you should be well placed to make a career out of it.
  21. Go to PPCA web site. Phone them up and they will read you the riot act.
  22. Dennis should kick in about now
  23. So this old fart looks like Uncle Fester from the Adams Family comes in. I bring his resemblence to the attenion of the crowd (footy club gig anything goes) ask him to put a light globe in his mouth. Get a good laugh. He's not happy, so comes over later to tell me I've played the same song twice. I say something calming like "so fuckin what." Now I've got it in for him. He goes for a piss and I notice he has emptied his stubby. So I half fill it up with water, the table is in on it. When he gets back he has a swig and sprays the table. Huge laugh all round. Nothing came of it really, a few pushes and shoves.
  24. Did a new years eve party and was 50-50 The 20s wanted their music and danced but the oldies wanted their music and danced so had to juggle song sets to keep both sides happy. The good missus having had a few, became spokesperson for the oldies and gave me grief all night.
  25. Hahahahahah Pisser source. Had some diasters of my own doing but I wont tell as I dont wont to set a bad example to our newbies.
