Walt Disney Records to Release DCONSTRUCTED Remixes Album

If you didn’t think so before, electronic dance music has official crossed over to the mainstream but in a way EDM fans never saw coming. Today Walt Disney Records announced the upcoming release of DCONSTRUCTED, a comprehensive compilation throughout Disney’s extensive catalog of both classic and current music. The 14-track collection will feature remixes from superstar DJs/producers from around the world including Avicii, Kaskade, Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso, Mat Zo and more with material from Academy Award®-winning films The Lion King and Frozen, in addition to two Daft Punk contributions to TRON:LEGACY.

Releasing on April 22nd, DCONSTRUCTED will showcase the skills of some of the most coveted names in dance music including GRAMMY® nominee Armin van Buuren’s remix of Academy Award® -winning song “Let It Go” for Frozen by Idina Menzel, GRAMMY® nominee Kaskade‘s rework of “Baby Mine” from Disney classic DUMBO and much more. Ranging from recent hit films such as Monsters University, The Incredibles, and The Muppets to the everlasting sounds of the beloved Mickey Mouse Club member, Annette Funicello from the Hawaiiaanette album, Sleeping Beauty, and DUMBO ; the compilation will be a refreshing new take on Disney favorites.

With DCONSTRUCTED, Disney and these dance music stars are reviving music from over half a century ago to create universally appealing modern renovations. Kaskade brings in emotional melodies to DUMBO‘s sentimental “Baby Mine” with soft progressive rhythms to translate those feelings to present time. Trion uses snippets from Sleeping Beauty‘s carousel-like “Once Upon A Dream” in a tweaked out mix that blends perfectly with the feel-good vibe of Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade.

Far from the typical songs you’d expect these DJs to be remixing, it will be interesting to see the reaction of the dance music community when DCONSTRUCTED is released on April 22, 2014.
