SL1200s and step-down transformers

My electrical engineering knowledge is not what is should be.

Are there any potential problems powering SL1200s long-term with a step-down transformer (to convert from 100v, for Japanese models)? Is audio quality in any way affected (I ask this cos I know audiophiles are fussy about their power sources)?

Cheers

Don’t believe so. Plenty of people use the transformers. Just get something better than your cheapo bargin bin transformer (don’t want it blowing up your tables) and you shouldn’t notice anything different. Turntables are a phono output, so power is just driving the motor.

Nope, I used a step down and it was fine. Turntables are very low power consumption so you'd only need a 50w one for 2 turntables (plus a Japanese Y adaptor). I bought one very similar to this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/50-Watt-Japanese-Isolated-Step-Down-Transformer-Voltage-converter-100V-SD100-50/252419714651?hash=item3ac5632e5b:g:mnQAAOxyTMhR8M1a&frcectupt=true and had no issues. Re: audio quality, I can't say it's 100% unaffected (but it almost certainly should be), but if there is any difference it'll be imperceptible.
