I have the same ASUS i3 laptop and a HP dv6 i5 laptop.....spend a little more $$$ and get a i5

Stay away from the i3 laptop because I can only run one USB input at a time with the i3

With my HP i5 I can run all 4 USB inputs at the same time..( that's the Rane ttm 57 sl mixer and my edirol pcr 500 midi keyboard and my diccer midi controller and my 500 gig hard driver )...with my i5 I can run Serato with ableton bridge & Serato scratch live video , my i3 will not do this...

Something is wrong with your lappy, the port's must not be powered properly, my laptop is an i7 and only 2 usb's are properly powered, cpu has nothing to do with it.
