getting ahead of myself this weekend.. shop has called to say they expect my ns6 to be delivered today. As soon as it lands and if its ok in shop I've got about 24 hours to prep it and get used to it b4 my crew has a test run gig for our new idea: We're going to set up a band (all mates) and me on dex. Then it's anythign goes: band plays i scratch along, band plays i mix along, band fades out i mix, i mix band joins in, solos, mcs, singers etc... anything goes. We did a simliar thing in the 90's but based on funk/jazz/soul/breakbeat vibe. this time we're all grown up and so is the tehcnology so literally: anything goes. obv i'll take cdjs as back up in case ns6 cant cut the mustard/has issues. and as i say its just mates as a dry run to see if it's a goer we should advertise. this means no pressure., free bar, free cola, free vibes, free nelson mandela (oh no thats been done) i honestly cant wait, feel like i'm 9 and it's christmas eve.

there is a dj profondo already... http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid ... j+profondo just being honest but it sounds like a wack kids party magician to me. cant offer a better option than cupes Cap5 tho. sporco ok without the "dj" maybe?
-
haha, or: capinyoass cupe: you're a bot at dealing with all us mad multi-personality fools. + rep
-
^lloyd is right, not much info on the ddjt1 yet from users. hoddi: you could be the first to upload a user guide for the noobs? ...there is no better way to be sure you understand something than to work out how to teach it someone else.
-
ez. I bow to peer pressure and you get the first rubber head i have ever given
-
haha, just a bit eh? just rem what i told you b4: i foolish. wonder what Gandy thinks? could it be he is actually considering a move to a DVS/controller rig?
-
i kno mate, only kiddin. it is pretty confusin anyway. but as far as i understand it: the best analogy i can think of is this: traktro/serrato/even VDJ are software programmes that any user can use with a variety of timecode sources, in a variety of ways, and so can cause a million different issues for themselves and for Tech Support due to the variety of soundcards/ controllers/ midi maps etc. A bit like a PC computer. ...or like a midi controller keyboard with various synthesiser software programmes. Itch is developed with it's hardware so what you see is what you get. But it works and so if you like it you roll with it. like a mac. ... or a piano.
-
yes but the software/hardware hook up on dvs is not as reliable due to the ability of tinkering. no the traktor and s4 come with midi maps but you can still tinker. the point of itch is you cannot tinker with its midi map. The controls are locked with the controller you choose to buy. You cannot buy itch without a controller. They are born and developed together. This is why they have much better plug and play ability and rock solid latency free control. No extra soundcard, no timecode, no set up. literally plug n play. TBH: i only found out about it coz i like the look of the ns6. but anyway: yeah hoddi: post reviews

Nah, i cant explain it. There is an explanation, and i feel i understand it, but i cant explain it. Have a look more into the itch product and you'll see how much extra attention they pay to linking hardware and software, it's all about that mate. ^this is the weakest answer ever given ey?
-
haha, just noticed lloyds original post stated this had no audio. derp dim, derp. This thread could be renamed best midi controller.. or would that open a can of worms?
-
what is a sync button? Srs tho: i believe it has beatgridding and sync but you can disable all these just like in traktor. p.s. dont confuse serrato with itch. serrato is the timecode based system, itch is just for controllers with high spec hardware/software collaboration i.e. NO MIDI MAPPING.
-
i knew there was a version with audio. nice work djaz.
-
^ users can select where the waveform is and i think the idea is that the laptop is essentially a library/record box. devs imply the dj should only need to look at the hardware apart from choosing a tune, hence the crumby gui. TBH i havent tried it yet as ns6 still hasnt landed in uk, but i'll report back when i have.
-
^haha preperation is for chefs, architects and some djs. you did well throwing it down boss.
-
^i think its coz serato have a much stronger link between hardware and software, which i guess implies much more time spent collaborating between the two teams at R+D stage? hoddi: no probs, thanx 4 being honest. good luck with the itch forums.

Ive got the hang of beatmatching! now, what songs to pick
dim replied to SolDios's topic in Beginner DJ Tips & Tricks
cappsssss: great tune spot mate, keep it real. ravni: when it's time to really generate a trance like state i think djs can sit at one tempo... otherwise whenever i hear a dj set that sits at the same tempo for more than half an hour i go to the bar. Bands dont do it so why do djs? good work fella. vlad: that kind of inventiveness is exactly what computers and auto dj software will never be able to recreate... fly the flag bro. -
^ sol is the only reason i'm still here! nohomo whales
-
^ oh, good spot source, i thought this one had audio too. the numark mixtrack pro is an all in one unit, doesnt look as flashy tho.
-
^'tis nice so it is. hooked up pon de cloud.

cognarts sol. glad it's starting to work for ya. what street cleaner said is true, trial and error is a way fwd... ravni is also right: Mixed in key is good if you wanna go that way. what i've written below is about developing your own style, if you want to keep on down the path of the modern DJ listen to everybody else... if you want to blaze your own trail read on: i disagree with researching genres and thinking of things that will work well... that's for getting your head round it. Thousands of DJs do only that and that's why they all sound the same forever. No harm in doing it to pad out a set with filler, to make sure you have got your beatmatching down, or to keep a commercial situation earning you money but... If you are really able to beatmatch you no longer need to make things easy for yourself... So just listen to everything all the time everywhere with no exceptions. Occasionally you may find yourself naturally humming or singing a song along to a different one you are listening to. You will not have had to "think" about this, it will have just happened because your marvellous human brain has thrust it upon you. These are the pairs of songs that should mix well AND help you develop your own style. I just remembered this great quote from some rap or other I heard when I was your age: "it aint nothing like hiphop music, you like it coz you choose it." EGGS? can you name that tune? anyway: apply that philosophy to EDM, DnB, Dubstep etc etc and see where you get to. oh, and post mixes boss. -
hey lloyd, thats a great buy for a 15 yr old mate. i recommend those or numark mixtrack pro to most students. Can be used as a toy or can be taken srs if he wants... He'll love it. ...god i'm so jealous of how kids these days can get their hands on tech that will do these things for them. whinge whinge whine

oooooo, srs question, please let me know if you dont understand it: you ever used cdj 1000s? if so: how do the platters on the ddjs1 compare? can you set them to "scratch" mode like cdj1000s so that the top of the platter is for scratching/fwd/rwd but the edge of the platter is for nudging? also: chk the links below: If those threads cant help you should prob post your own query (but make sure they know it's about the djjs1, they have hardware specific areas to the forums). On that forum they have a lot of cocks but there are good lads amongst the dicks. Cerla and Kraal have helped me before. http://serato.com/forum/discussion/187476 http://serato.com/forum/discussion/259946 p.s. very jealous of your choice of set up mate. Well done, i honestly believe this new gen of controller will become the new industry standard in the same way cdjs did 15 yrs ago.
-
hey, i just saw on other thread you got one of those djjs thingies? Do you mean the pioneer badbwoy? I'm sure it's supposed to sync an itunes library. but anyway tell me how it is man... I got some specific questions i could really do with answering if you have used Pioneer cdjs too?

^ i dont know itch either but the screen shots i've seen imply there is a browser area where all you're songs should stay? Have you checked in your itch options/preferences if you can set a folder as your music library? that is how it works in traktor etc. If not that perhaps you can select all your tracks in itunes or whatever and drag the whole lot to the browser area on itch? try drag and drop with one 1st and if it works dump the lot in? i dont know itch but am hoping to get soon, and i am foolish so try my ideas last probably.
