Tomy replied to eggssell's topic in Music Production
yeah man if you pick one up for about 300-500 in good condition your doing well i've seen them new in box (could be bullshit?) from 500-1k. Just be sure to ask for some sort of proof or something to make sure that the display screen still works. as some of them have a little issue with the display screen failing. -
hahaha ^^^ perfect response. Spot on really. They said they same things when electro got big or when cdjs started becoming the norm.

Tomy replied to Cupe's topic in DJ Headquarters
i watched a fair bit of it. Laidback luke's set was interesting mainly melb style but heaps of local aus stuff which was kinda nice even though i'm not too much into that style. Also Tiesto played trap....... soooo that was.... not what i expected -

what. a. dick. -
yeah it's pretty bad in aus. I know so seriously good female djs and it seems a lot of the time that if they don't have a modelling career they wont get booked. It is getting better though due to all the legit females rocking it.

Part finally arrived today. I've installed the new firewire PCI card and everything is back to normal and running sweet. The new card cost me about $105 as i had to get it shipped in from the states. I bought it off amazon and found it a little difficult to find a shop that would post here. details on the card below. If anyone else stumbles across this and is having the same issues just buy the card. Saved me so much headache. There is a list of compatible firewire cards etc on the saffire site so check there before you buy one. 3 Port Firewire Adapter Card by SIIG Firewire Ports - 3 Firewire Support - IEEE 1394 OS Support - Windows® 8 (32-/64-bit) / 7 (32-/64-bit) / Vista (32-/64-bit) / XP (32-/64-bit) / Server 2003 & 2008 (32-/64-bit) / 2000 / ME / 98SE Compliant with IEEE 1394-1995, 1394a-2000 and OHCI 1.1 standards Chipset - TI TSB43AB23

that's a really good price point for an 8' monitor, probably expect to pay a bit more than that here in Australia, but hopefully not by too much. Will be very interested in reading some reviews on these soon.

QLD Gov considers plan to cut trading hours for pubs & clubs
Tomy replied to Tomy's topic in DJ Headquarters
yeah most the violence I see it early on in the night and even that's rare. maybe see something once a month. My guessing is if your there after 3am most likely you've got your hands onto some party enhancers thus not being as violent as your general drinker. it just really frustrates me that time and time again its the majority that has to pay for a few idiots bad decisions and shit house behaviour. such the Nana state up here in QLD. can't advertise drink prices out side of the venue and no one does drink specials any more because liquor licensing would treat you like a criminal and ban half your shit. -

Queensland Government considers plan to cut trading hours for pubs and clubs to 3am ATTORNEY-General Jarrod Bleijie has flagged tougher penalties for drunken violence alongside a potential overhaul of trading hours for pubs and clubs. He said he was also looking at the success of winding back trading hours in combination with an earlier lockout as is currently done in Newcastle. It comes after The Courier-Mail today revealed an expert panel assembled my Mr Bleijie to help overhaul liquor licensing laws had recommended scrapping the 3am lockout and winding back trading hours to 3am. "We are seriously looking at the penalties applicable to people who are doing the wrong thing," he said. "And if we have to increase those penalties, to substantially increase those penalties, to substantially increase the banning orders, then we'll consider that as well." Mr Bleijie said he had discussed the Newcastle model which included reduced trading hours, a lockout and drink restrictions. full article here - http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensland/queensland-government-considers-plan-to-cut-trading-hours-for-pubs-and-clubs-to-3am/story-fnihsrf2-1226721312796 Yet again our state gov. is really screwing our state. there are so many factors involved in this and it seems to be an on going issue as this isn't the first time they've tried it on. It's just a shame the majority of people will now have to suffer for the actions of the few. feel free to sign this petition to keep our venues open till 5am http://www.change.org/en-AU/petitions/t ... 3am-in-qld
