  1. Starting to make a habit of this, I've got a mix up three months in a row now! This is another live venue mix, recorded at a rooftop bar on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Lemme know what you think šŸ˜€.
  2. I’ve personally always recorded like @LabRat has mentioned, however my mixer does not have a sound card built ion. I’ve had a look at the mixer manual for the Xone 23c and the USB out from the mixer can be used as a sound card, so in theory you should be able to record via USB out on that mixer. 1) Make sure you have the driver correctly installed. You can follow page 12 of the manual (https://www.allen-heath.com/media/AP9433_5_X23C_UG.pdf) and you can download the driver from here https://www.allen-heath.com/ahproducts/xone-23c/ (browse to the ā€œsoftwareā€ tab). 2) There seems to be some limitations using the record out over USB. Have a read of this https://gehrcke.de/2014/07/allen-heath-xone23c-hidden-technical-detail-and-quirks/, particularly the last three sections. Based on this, Audacity might not be the best tool to use. It looks like your mixer should have come with a serial key for some DJ software? The way to go may be installing that and using it to record. If it all gets too hard you can go as @LabRat mentioned - use the RCA mixer outs to either a 3.5mm line in (if your PC has one) or get a cheap USB sound card with RCA inputs. Behringer make one that’s about $50 from Store DJ.
  3. If you don’t have Ableton, Cytomic sell the Glue as a VST for use in other DAWs, as well as some other plugins https://cytomic.com/#plugins
  4. An article from the creator of Ableton’s Glue compressor https://www.ableton.com/en/blog/andrew-simper-glue-eq-eight/ Another article on some interesting uses for it https://www.macprovideo.com/article/ableton-live/get-unstuck-with-ableton-live-9s-glue-compressor/ šŸ‘
  5. MacBook Pro 13ā€. Purchased June 2019 with 2.8Ghz i7 quad core CPU upgrade, 16GB RAM upgrade, 1TB storage upgrade. Some people are reporting the CPU usage indicator goes a bit wack. I don’t look at it often, but haven’t had any issues.
  6. Got the upgrade, thoughts thus far: Some people have reported high CPU usage. I haven't had any problems. Hybrid reverb is pretty sick. Everyone bangs on about Valhalla Shimmer being the ultimate reverb. Hybrid Reverb has a shimmer setting built in - probably not quite as good, but pretty close and it's all included. Shortcut key "C" now arms the currently selected track(s) which is a small, but nice thing. Default settings on compressor are different (not good/bad, just something to be aware of). FX are grouped into folders (by effect type) by default. Might drive some people nuts, but you can turn it off by right clicking on a folder and deselecting it. I find it handy to try a different effect on something that I may not normally think to use. There's some pretty good sample packs by Spitfire audio which I haven't downloaded yet but I've heard them in other videos and they sound pretty mint. Direct from Spitfire these used to cost a pretty penny. Haven't really used much of the other new features (yet).
  7. Ableton User Group Melbourne are doing an event Monday night to go through some cool stuff with the Live 11 launch. These used to be in person, but they've been doing them online for the past year or so whilst gathering restrictions are still in place. This opens it up to non-Melb peeps as you can join in from anywhere, watch it back later, etc. All streamed live through facebook for anyone interested https://www.facebook.com/events/2845182762405957
  8. Nice, deep and dark. @OxyKon might like this too.
  9. From the outside, UAD looks like the best way to ensure you never have any money again lol; so pricey. Look forward to review šŸ‘
  10. This also has balanced output and USB-C at a slightly cheaper price https://www.storedj.com.au/m-audio-air-hub-usb-monitoring-interface-w-built-in-3-port-hub
  11. I went to an online meetup thing where a bunch of the certified trainers had early access to the beta. The creativity you can do with the comping looks cool, as does the additional MIDI editing features. I’ll post back here once I’ve had a crack at it!
  12. Only thing I’d say about that is it has RCA outputs, I’d be keen on TRS/XLR balanced output at a minimum. This m-audio one looks like a new model and has 1/4ā€ balanced outputs https://www.storedj.com.au/m-audio-m-track-duo-2-channel-audio-interface-w-2-xlr-and-1-4-inch-combo-inputs. Currently on backorder though. This one is a tad more expensive but also has the benefit of a USB-C connection. Assuming you have a newer MacBook this will avoid the need for another adapter https://www.storedj.com.au/rode-ai1-studio-quality-audio-interface-and-headphone-amplifier. Rode typically make OK stuff too..
  13. Yeah.. When they first announced the beta I jumped on the discounted upgrade they offered (think it was 20% off?). Was my Christmas present hehe
  14. Update: release scheduled for Feb 23!

    Hi

    Hi
  16. Back again m8s. This month's mix is a recording from my set @ Glamorama the other week. If anyone is in Melb this weekend I'll be playing there again on Sat šŸ‘. Enjoy peeps
  17. They do work with rekordbox; however, the screen only lets you browse one line at a time which is a bit of a pain, so you need your playlists on point. The 850s (what I have) show three rows when browsing which is a bit better, but I’m finding they’re getting slower now the USBs are quite large with heaps of tracks on them. Pioneer do make a range of all in one units which look like a controller but you just bang a USB in and off you go - not sure how much these are though (probably more than 500).
  18. I tend to stay a couple of revisions behind. Still on Mojave for the music stuff, and run a separate OS install for work/daily browsing. I suspect Ableton Live 11 will have M1 support in some form when it’s released in the next couple of months... Many have said both v10 and v11 beta are running OK with Rosetta 2, but there’s likely many audio interface drivers and VSTs which may not work.
  19. Thanks mate - bringing it back for 2021! Appreciate the repost .

    TOTD?

  21. Hey fam, Been a while since I posted one of these. Hoping to do one each month. As things start to reopen down here, I greatly appreciate any social media action as I try to get some bookings + post any feedback below of course. Stay .
  22. Welcome (fellow Melbourne resident here)
  23. Came across this article - I wasn’t aware you could order instruments and effects to put the most used ones at the top! https://audioordeal.co.uk/ableton-features-you-didnt-know-that-you-probably-should/
  24. All good this end mate šŸ‘
  25. This is good stuff! Hope you're keeping well my friend
