  1. As of today, Jauz is officially off the market. There are lots of sharks in this crazy sea, but the superstar DJ/producer has found his match with longtime significant other, Joann Walker. They have both been keeping the getaway ceremony on the down low, but just yesterday Jauz took to Twitter to share the amazing news. “Welp, I’ve been quiet about it for as long as I could but at this time tomorrow Joann and myself will be celebrating with our family at our WEDDING!!!!!!” “Can’t fucking wait to spend the next few days celebrating with you my love,” he added. Joann expresseed her own excitement, “…my birthday and wedding and honeymoon and New Years and Christmas are all in the next month hahaha this is going to be the best month of my fkng lifeeee.” D’awww! The ceremony is set to take place in Hawaii today and we can’t wait to see the photos. Congrats to the newlyweds! 2. Chicago is corrupt as all hell, and that probably won’t be changing anytime soon. But one way that the city’s residents can try to claim at least a little bit of local control is to keep tabs on who’s running their neighborhood. To help teach you how to do that is Chance the Rapper, who stars in a new video that breaks down the purpose of a ward’s alderman, as well as how hard it is for young, diverse candidates to get noticed in a field crowded by red tape and career politicians. It sounds dry, but Chance and the crew keep the proceedings fun, with the rapper conducting interviews as fake mustache-wearing reporter Champ Bennett. Comedian Hannibal Buress also swings by to play a corrupt, 75-year old alderman whose position is to “just vote yes.” In addition to funny man-on-the-street interviews, Chance also sits down with aldermanic hopefuls (including 33rd ward candidate Rossana Rodriguez, who this Chicago-based writer will be voting for come election time). Watch it below. It’s the latest in Chance’s numerous moves to promote underrepresented political candidates and bring aid to the communities in which he came up. Recently, the rapper donated $1 million dollars to mental health service providers all across the city, made a $2.2 million pledge to local public schools, and participated in a Lyft fundraiser. He also threw his weight behind Chicago mayoral candidate Amara Enyia. The video also marks once of the first pieces of content from Chicagoist under the leadership of Chance, following his purchase of the news publication earlier this year. The rapper’s been onscreen a lot lately, having starred in this year’s pizza-themed slasher, Slice. He’s also planning to serve as a judge on Netflix’s upcoming Rhythm & Flow competition series, and is teaming with MGM for a Chicago-set musical, Hope, from Empire writer Carlito Rodriguez. He still makes music, too; just this past week, he shared two new tracks. Chicago, vote for your alderman on February 26th, 2019. Source
  3. Tragic news to report, as a young fan died at Bring Me the Horizon’s show Friday (November 30th) at Alexandra Palace in London. Reports started to surface about the death on Saturday morning, with the band acknowledging the sad news in a tweet on Saturday evening. The band wrote, “Words cannot express how horrified we are feeling this evening after hearing about the death of a young man at our show last night. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this terrible time. We will comment further in due course.” Words cannot express how horrified we are feeling this evening after hearing about the death of a young man at our show last night. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones at this terrible time. We will comment further in due course. — Bring Me The Horizon (@bmthofficial) December 1, 2018 Fans at the venue have complained about a dearth of security at the show, with some reporting there were only 9 or 10 security guards for a show attended by 10,000 people. It was so mad last night! The entire place was just so rough. The venue need to sort out their security! 10 main people for 10k people! — arron nurden (@arronnurden) December 1, 2018 According to The Independent, in a since-deleted tweet, Griffin Dickinson of the band Shvpes and son of Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson, wrote, “Last night at a BMTH show I saw a kid die. He was carried out by 3 dudes & paramedics tried to resuscitate him to no avail. Please please please look out for people around you.” A statement from the venue read, “A medical incident occurred at last night’s Bring Me The Horizon concert. Our thoughts and condolences are with the individual’s family and we would like to express our deepest sympathy to them. We hope you can appreciate we cannot provide any further comment at this time.” A medical incident occurred at last night’s Bring Me The Horizon concert. We hope you can appreciate we cannot provide any further comment at this time. — Alexandra Palace (@Yourallypally) December 1, 2018 NME reports that the London Ambulance Service confirmed the news of the fan’s death, stating, “We were called at 9.48pm on Friday (November 30) to reports of a person unwell at Alexandra Palace in north London. We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an advanced paramedic and our hazardous area response team to the scene. Our first medic arrived in less than three minutes. Sadly the patient died at the scene.” As of now, there is no word on an exact cause of the fan’s death. We’d like to offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. Source
  4. Historically, Americans have treated the words “the British are coming” as a warning. In the case of Saturday Night Live, the news that British actress Claire Foy would be hosting last night’s show shone like a beacon of hope. After a less than stellar (hell, almost unbearable) first six episodes of Season 44, Lorne Michaels and team had no business shooting down help from anyone — not even the redcoats. If nothing else, they had to figure Foy’s accent would charm American audiences for at least the monologue … and it did. However, the star of Netflix’s The Queen had more going for her first time as host than a posh accent and a teacup full of your-country-is-actually-more-fucked-than-mine jokes. The actress played a variety of straight roles that allowed the cast to deliver some of their silliest and funniest performances of the season. Also, Oxford (Foy attended the School of Drama) met Oxnard last night when hip-hop star Anderson .Paak guested and brought a special friend (more later), and frequent guests Ben Stiller and Fred Armisen returned to help fill out Donald Trump’s (Alec Baldwin) inner circle of very fine people. While last night didn’t offer enough laughs to make us forget how bad the current season has been, Michaels would be wise to tell Foy that if she must Brexit, NBC would gladly take her in. Accent and all. __________________________________________________________ Mueller on My Mind With the Mueller investigation breathing down the president’s neck and provoking 3 a.m. Twitter tantrums, it was only a matter of time before Alec “Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em” Baldwin would return as Donald Trump, despite having been arrested for acting out the plot of a Seinfeld episode. And while we got to see bat-like Rudy Giuliani (Kate McKinnon) flash his fangs and heartbroken Michael Cohen (Stiller) finally call it quits, the most fun came from seeing Trump being made the odd tyrant out as topless Vladimir Putin (Beck Bennett) and the Saudi crown prince (Armisen) swapped yuks at the president’s expense. “I prefer presidents who don’t get indicted,” needled Putin at one point. We do, too, Vlad. We do, too. __________________________________________________________ An Early Holiday .Paakage If America wasn’t already 100% clued in to who Anderson .Paak is, they should be after last night. In the most electric musical performance of the season, .Paak appeared in bucket hat and shades front and center behind his drum kit, seamlessly laying out the percussion to jazzy jam “Tints” while also carrying lead vocals. .Paak’s performance was so impressive that nobody would’ve been disappointed even if surprise guest Kendrick Lamar hadn’t casually perched on the drum kit’s riser to deliver his knockout verse. Later, .Paak would rap, dance, and thrash in a haze of red smoke to his latest single, “Who R U?”, reminiscent to Kanye West blowing minds with his mesmerizing live performance of “Black Skinhead” several years ago. These are the types of SNL performances that can launch an emerging star into the mesosphere. Or at least cause him to blow up so much that he needs all his windows tinted. __________________________________________________________ Cheer Up, Charlie… SNL scored the most laughs last night when it got Abraham H. Parnassus levels of silly and demented. Foy reprised Kristen Stewart’s role as Charlie Bucket as TMC delved back into the mysteries behind the bed in Willy Wonka that held four grandparents for multiple decades. This time around, we learned what happens when Charlie’s g-parents get a little frisky. Luckily, we never actually saw anything. The act was left up to our pure (or maybe impure) imaginations as wall plaster fell, bedposts rocked, and Mrs. Bucket (McKinnon) tried to sing to Charlie as a distraction. To see the cast cracking up and the scene escalate to levels of absurdity not witnessed on the show in ages served as a reminder that a big, dumb risk can sometimes have a huge reward. __________________________________________________________ Mueller … All I Want for Christmas Is You Two years later and many of us are still trying to figure out how educated women voted for Trump. Apart from immigrants and our dearest global allies, Trump has insulted the dignity, intelligence, and integrity of women more than any other demographic. It was therapeutic, then, if not entirely festive, when the women cast members of SNL took to the stage at the close of last night to sing a holiday-tinged jingle urging Robert Mueller to deliver his scathing, indicting report under their Christmas trees this December. “Our balls are fully blue,” they sang, “Mueller, all I want for Christmas is you.” It’s the type of gift that would make all of us believe in Christmas miracles again — or at least human decency. 6. Amazon x Apple Music is now a thing! The two music giants are finally teaming up, as Apple Music is about become available on Amazon’s Echo. Previously this was not an option, but come December 17th, users will be able to access Apple Music’s sprawling library via smart speaker. Apple and Amazon are still competitors in other aspects. For example, Amazon doesn’t sell the Siri-driven HomePod as of now. Instead, the commerce website offers its own Echo. At least with this agreement they have come to some terms. It’s nice to see Amazon and Apple playing nice together. With this move, Apple Music joins Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Amazon’s own Amazon Music. All of which are services currently offered by the Echo and other Alexa devices. “Alexa, play Bassnectar.” Source: CNN This article was first published on Your EDM. 7. The music video for Ariana Grande’s hit “thank u, next” came out yesterday and has already set new records for YouTube and Vevo. It’s been a little over 24 hours since the video came out and, at time of publishing, it’s sitting pretty at 55 million views. Before it even reached 24 hours, however, it had already become the most-watched video on YouTube in a 24 hour period. It also broke the same record on Vevo. p.s. we set a new @vevo record. that's wild. i love u. thank u. — Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) December 1, 2018 The record was previously held by BTS and their song “Idol,” and “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift before that. 8. Manchester Orchestra and The Front Bottoms are currently out on the road together. In celebration of their wintry jaunt, the two have released a collaborative single titled, “Allentown”, which has quite an elaborate backstory. “This song started as a writing exercise between Nate Hussey (All Get Out) and myself,” Manchester Orchestra’s Andy Hull explains in a press release. “Nate sent me the first four lines and asked what kind of music and melody I heard. “I sent him back the melody and we started crafting out this character with as few words as possible,” he continues. “When I sent it to The Front Bottoms, Brian wrote the cool narrator perspective as our chorus. The Front Bottoms crew came down to Atlanta and we co-produced the track and gave it some proper clothing.” “TFB have been friends with Andy and the Manchester crew for quite some time,” adds The Front Bottoms’ Brian Sella. “It felt good to finally get in the studio with them. The track really came out great, and we had a blast recording it. We hope you enjoy it.” Stream the track below and consult their full tour itinerary shortly after. 9. On Wednesday night (November 28th), the Capitol Theater in Port Chester, New York, played host to Generation Axe — a near-four-hour celebration of guitar shredding. Generation Axe is Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, Zakk Wylde, Nuno Bettencourt and Tosin Abasi pledging allegiance to the idea that a guitar should be played very loud and very fast. Wasting no time, the show starts with all five guitarist on stage. Tearing into the early ’70s hit “Hocus Pocus” by Focus, each guitarist gives a taste of whats to come. As the songs ends, Tosin Abasi, of the band Animals as Leaders, becomes the night’s first featured player. As the youngest member of the shred-fest, Tosin may not be as well known as the others and that leaves him with the task of making his presence known…and he wastes little time in doing so. Mixing lush, beautiful melodies with sounds that are completely foreign to the traditional guitar lexicon, Abasi ties it all together with foot-stomping groove.

In the middle of his set, a humble Abasi admits that it’s still surreal for him to be sharing the stage with his guitar heroes. A sentiment echoed by Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, who remembers being introduced to a then unknown Steve Vai, when he opened up a guitar magazine and out fell a record (“The Attitude Song”). Bettencourt accompanies Abasi on the Animal as Leaders track “Physical Education”. Even though their styles are completely different the collaboration works, as does the concept of segueing from one guitarist to the other by having the next guy come on stage and take the torch. Joking that, “Now we’re done with the intellectual part of the show…I’m here to dumb things down,” Bettencourt, who doesn’t seem to have aged one bit in the last 25 years, puts forth the most accessible set. Mixing the heavy groove of Extreme’s “Get the Funk Out” with the acoustic “Midnight Express” he proves that you can appeal to non-musicians while letting it be known that you can also shred with the best of them. Closing out his set with a medley of Extreme’s greatest riffs, the spotlight shifts to Zakk Wylde. With a catalog of music that now dates back to 1988, it would be quite easy for him to pull out a handful of Ozzy and/or Black Label Society songs to play during his set. Instead, Wylde pays tribute to “Lord” Iommi as he takes Black Sabbath’s “Into the Void” and “War Pigs” on a thunderous ride that brings Zakk face to face with just about everyone in the theater — literally. No stranger to being “one-with-the-fans” Wylde turned it up a notch by playing behind his back as he made his way through the crowd all the way to back of the theater and then up to the balcony, where the only thing to stop him is the last row of the theater.

Joined back on stage by Nuno Bettencourt, the two play the Gary Moore classic “Still Got the Blues”. Trading soulful blues licks, each guitarist ventures out to the crowd again — playfully throwing riff’s back and forth until it’s clear that there’s a third guitar playing, at which time a spotlight shines on the soundboard, revealing Steve Vai. The guitar has no greater ambassador than Vai, who started a record label to help promote artists who have been overlooked by big labels. Generation Axe is Vai’s baby, so one would think that he’d be the natural choice for “headliner” but instead Vai puts together a tight three-song set that brings the house down, including the crowd favorite “For the Love of God”. Abasi, Bettencourt and Wylde join Vai on a version of Edgar Winter’s “Frankenstein” that may be the highlight of the evening. With three hours of shred under our belt, it was only fitting that Yngwie Malmsteen, a master of shred, should close out the evening. Earlier in the evening, Bettencourt had joked that the performers were being paid by the note, and he was going to give Malmsteen run for his money. Within the first few minutes of Yngwie’s set it was clear that he would be taking home the majority of the loot home, if they were indeed being paid by the note. It’s during the Malmsteen set that you really appreciate the band that has been playing throughout the evening — drummer JP Bouvet, bassist Pete Griffin and keyboardist Nick Z. Marino provide a seamless transition from one amazing guitarist to the next. Playing a cross-section of songs from his impressive career, Yngwie’s skills are as jaw-dropping impressive now as they were when he first hit the scene back in the early 1980s, even if he spends a good deal of his set hamming it up a bit with exaggerated facial expressions and by repeatedly tossing picks into the crowd. Closing with his classic “Black Star”, he’s joined by Vai, and they tear note-for-note tear through sections of the song that leave everyone dumbstruck. For the finale, the five fretboard wizards arrange a version of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” that is mesmerizing. It’s not easy to take a song that’s been heard a million times and do something different, yet respectful with it…but they do. With the crowd pleading for one more song, the shredders oblige with the Deep Purple staple “Burn”. It’s all together fitting that a song that most guitar players learn early on in their development is the song they choose to end the night with. Generation Axe may not be for everyone, but rest assure that 10 or 15 years from now, people will still be talking about the insane amount of talent that was up on that stage. Rock music historians love to tell tales about “the night so-an-so” jammed for hours at a blues club back in ’60s and we all who have loved to have been there. But that’s living in the past. The truth is that guitar playing is just as creative and innovative as its ever been. If you truly appreciate virtuoso guitar playing, hit this tour when it comes to your town. See the dates here. 10. After dropping singles “Tell Me” and “Storyteller,” Haywyre is finally back with the full Panorama: Discover EP. Spanning six tracks, Discover is the first of six smaller projects expected from Haywyre’s Panorama. Haywyre fans from any period of his career are sure to love Discover, as it blends his classic jazz knowledge with blazing electronic flourishes and pizzazz. “Stepping Stones” serves as a perfect introduction to the EP, preceding the two already-released singles, as it offers up some bouncy funk and groove like no other. However, the song that I’ve been waiting for fans to hear since I received the EP weeks ago is absolutely “Square One.” Having listened to Haywyre since before his Monstercat days, I can confidently say this is one of my favorite songs he has ever released. “In a sense, this [Panorama: Discover] is as personal as it gets. I drew from everything I could. Moments of excitement, love, discovery, realization, connection, but also fear, insecurity, depression and disgust. I wanted the full spectrum. In another sense, it couldn’t be less personal, because I’m avoiding the literal personal accounts that drove me to create this in the first place. I don’t want people hearing my story, I want people hearing their story in my music.” – Haywyre Listen to Panorama: Discover below! See Haywyre on tour! This article was first published on Your EDM. 12. Nothing’s gonna save us now — except maybe Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus. Their new collaborative track “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart” is pure, audible bliss, despite the harsh reality of the subject matter. It’s Mark and Miley against the world on this one. The outstanding production is sure to melt hearts, certainly not break them — but, there’s a deeper message. The beautifully shot music video below hones in on the lyrics and amplifies the message to relate to the cruel world we live in. Mark Ronson does wonders with release as Miley’s profound vocals lead the way. And, if you hear some extra influence in there, that’s because Jamie xx has a co-producer credit on this one. Together, these artists find an intriguing jive that’s easy to dance to, or break down and cry to. Either way, it’s glorious and a sure hit. Dance and pop come together so perfectly here. That might not save the world, but it saves us. Watch here and let us know what you think! Mark Ronson – Nothing Breaks Like a Heart ft. Miley Cyrus This article was first published on Your EDM. 13. With the exceptions of their 2808 EP and collaboration with Zhu, the world hasn’t seen new music from Nero in over three years. Between II Worlds was their last significant release, earning our distinction of #1 album of the year at the time. Now, right at the end of 2018, Nero is teasing the world with new music in an oh-so-Nero way. We don’t get more than a flickering screen animated on an old TV, with what sounds like one of those old radar sounds you hear in movies about submarines. And then a date flashes across the screen: 4.12.2018. (Nero are from the UK, so this is December 4, for those who are confused.) With absolutely zero additional information available, we’re forced to wait. Then again, it’s only four days from now, so it could be worse. Check out the teaser below. 14. Skrillex’s so-called remix of Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” turned out to be more of an edit, but Whethan is here to save the day. While Whethan is mostly known for his glittery future bass tracks, he knows how to throw down, too. His flip of Skrillex’s “Sicko Mode” remix is precisely what we were hoping Skrillex was dropping in the first place: an in-your-face bass tune worthy of pumping at full volume. The fact that Whethan even managed to make two separate drops out of just the remix, which he likely had no stems to, just reinforces that Skrillex’s original remix had so much potential. 15. His legend continues and yet we’re already getting a LeBron James biopic. According to Deadline, the formative years of the current Lakers star and former 2X NBA Champion with the Miami Heat (and for some other team from Cleveland) will be the subject of a forthcoming film from director Chris Robinson (Beats). Rest assured, the source material’s strong as screenwriters Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier based their screenplay on Shooting Stars, the collaborative memoir that James wrote alongside Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger. Seeing how James is a pretty great actor himself — he’s one of the major highlights of 2015’s Trainwreck — perhaps they might want to use some of that de-aging technology Scorsese is currently employing for his forthcoming crime drama, The Irishman. In the meantime, James can currently be seen hitting the court with the Los Angeles Lakers as they continue to compete in a constantly evolving Western conference that’s seen more drama this season than all of TNT programming. But, he’s also working on getting us Jason again. Source
  16. Mark Kozelek didn’t just hold to his promise to release two albums in 2018, he very nearly surpassed it. After delivering a self-titled effort back in April, he released This Is My Dinner under his Sun Kil Moon moniker. Now, he’s putting the finishing touches on a new album to be released on March 1st, and those finishing touches apparently include a title change. BrooklynVegan reports that the album, a collaboration with Grammy-nominated saxophonist Donny McCaslin and Jim White of Dirty Three, will now be titled, I Also Want to Die in New Orleans. It was previously dubbed, Mark Kozelek with Donny McCaslin and Jim White. In a very Kozelekian turn of events, the change came about after the songwriter saw a poster for the $uicideboy$ album I Want to Die In New Orleans. Brooklyn Vegan also reports that it will now be issued as a Sun Kil Moon album, as opposed to a solo release. (Read: Sun Kil Moon Breaks Down New Album, This Is My Dinner, Track by Track) Will Kozelek’s prolific nature never cease? He also released three albums in 2017, including a solo EP, a Sun Kil Moon album called Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys of Blood, and a collaborative LP with Parquet Courts bassist Sean Yeaton. 17. Even before David Gordon Green’s Halloween obliterated the box office, becoming the highest grossing slasher of all time, Blumhouse made it quite clear they were already working on sequel. While it’s still uncertain if Green or co-writer Danny McBride will be involved, fans can count on one familiar face returning to the fold: John Carpenter. In a new interview with Consequence of Sound, to be published later this month, the Master of Horror says he loved working on Green’s film and that he’d be happy to score the sequel, insisting, “We’ll be ready. We’ve all talked about it. We’ll be ready.” (Read: John Carpenter Carves Out a Brutally Angry Score for David Gordon Green’s Halloween) He also confirms that a Lost Themes III remains in the works, which he alluded to in a past interview with our Halloweenies podcast. “We’ve been putting together some music,” he says, but insists his band, which comprises of son Cody Carpenter and godson Daniel Davies, is currently taking a much-needed break. “The group is not intensely working on anything,” he clarifies, “but we’ll get back together and do some more stuff. We need to rest now after Halloween and keep out of sight. We don’t need to bug anybody now.” Keep a look out for the full interview in the weeks ahead. 19. Common’s spent 2018 making music as August Greene with Robert Glasper and Karriem Riggins, but it was to his 2016 solo album Black America Again that he turned during his appearance on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert Friday night. What’s better is that his turn received an introduction from Michelle Obama. Obama was on the show to promote her new memoir, Becoming, and spoke at length with Colbert about the book and the Trump administration’s approach to morality. Later, she helped introduce a medley performance from Common, who wove together his Selma soundtrack contribution “Glory” with Black America Again’s “The Day Women Took Over”, the latter of which name-checks the former First Lady in addition to Rosa Parks, Oprah, and Beyoncé. 20. Ahh, the annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJ list. Over the years, many house and techno listeners have read this list with disappointment, as they felt something was missing. This year, DJ Mag and Beatport heard our prayers and revealed their new Alternative Top 100 Djs featuring Carl Cox at number 1, and followed by Claptone, Richie Hawton, Adam Beyer, and Marco Carola. These names are truly a breath of fresh air, as the scene has shifted more towards these underground sounds as of late. These well deserving artists finally have rankings of their own based on votes from fans and finally, sales trend data, making this revolutionary house and techno revival all the more real. These artists were unable to compete in the popularity contest that was the DJ Mag Top 100 which ranked them much lower on the list. Now, with their own list, they’ve been given their chance to shine within the alternative DJ scene that’s so near & dear to our hearts. Check out the list below and revel in its underground inclusive beauty. Featured photo by: Mixmag Asia The post New Alternative Top 100 DJs a Breath of Fresh Air appeared first on EDM Maniac. Source
  21. Deadmau5 music videos have changed a lot from the days of “Professional Griefers” and “Ghosts N Stuff.” The last video from the Canadian artist was the strange “Monophobia” with Rob Swire, featuring a drone flyover of his house with odd 3D CGI animations. Well, that seems to be the new norm for Deadmau5 if we judge by the new music video for his song with Lights, “Drama Free.” The song is already one of our favorite deadmau5 releases in recent memory, and the video just solidifies the strange and quirky nature of the new mau5. The only really discernible “plot” is a series of tentacles attacking Earth and causing mayhem while a diaper-clad deadmau5 infant fights against evil? Beyond that, it’s an exercise in “how weird can we get” – the answer is pretty damn weird. Check out the video below! Photo via Rukes.com This article was first published on Your EDM. 22. 50 Cent certainly knows what’s up when it comes to good music. The hip hop icon just shot the following video from the inside of his Maybach, first showing off the dashboard and the cleanliness of said dashboard. Then, he switches it over to a selfie view, where he introduces some music to set the mood. “This the music you listen to in the Maybach.” *Cue Above & Beyond‘s “Cold Feet” with Justine Suissa.* As if that isn’t amazing enough, it gets better. Above & Beyond soon answered back on Twitter. In their response, they show off the Volvo. The dashboard is also clean. The music they listen to in the Volvo? You guessed it… 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” Collab? 50 Cent and Above & Beyond Love pic.twitter.com/gD9b5CkNAT — 50cent (@50cent) November 30, 2018 pic.twitter.com/UZegpKDCJw — Above & Beyond (@aboveandbeyond) November 30, 2018 This article was first published on Your EDM. 23. Nicky Romero has been a very busy man in 2018, dropping new songs like clockwork every few weeks or so. The Protocol head-honcho isn’t done yet, as he returns with a new radio-friendly track “My Way” featuring Swedish singer/songwriter Alice Berg. While the bulk of Nicky’s work so far this year has been more festival and club friendly, “My Way” is a much more pop-leaning song. Alice Berg’s vocals are definitely the highlight of the track and she absolutely vibes on this one. The production is relatively minimal on the track, but definitely strays outside Nicky’s nominal progressive house comfort zone. The first verse of the song is essentially Berg’s vocals laid over some percussion. Some piano notes come into play during the buildup, before dropping into an interesting, but fun drop, that’s part future house, part trap, part pop. Berg sings “My way…I don’t know you anymore” as some vocal chops sync up with some light trap drums. No question, Nicky is going for a more mainstream and contemporary sound on this one. This one plays perfectly on the car radio. Check out Nicky Romero ft. Alice Berg “My Way” out now on Protocol Recordings. Nicky also just kicked off a mini-tour of the US at Academy in Los Angeles over Thanksgiving weekend. There are still some dates left to check him out. 12/1-New York-Marquee NYC 12/3-Boston-The Grand 12/6-Philadelphia-NOTO Philadelphia 12/7-Las Vegas-XS 12/8-San Francisco-Temple Here’s a clip of his post-Thanksgiving show at Academy LA. 24. Three months out from the release of his chart-topping Astroworld, Travis Scott recently launched the spectacle that is his “Astroworld Tour”, which has already seen cameos from Kendrick Lamar and Kylie Jenner (and quite the complaint from Tommy Lee). Now, the Houston rapper is keeping the momentum going with a new music video for album standout “Yosemite”. Nabil directed the lavish clip, which finds a young boy transported into the ancient ruins of the Houston-area AstroWorld upon which Scott based his album. Gunna and Nav guest on the track, the former spits his lines from a private jet overlooking the ruins, which include a stone version of the Scott head dominating the album’s artwork. Watch it below. In November, Scott hosted the very first outing of his Astroworld Festival, which featured the likes of Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Rae Sremmurd, and Young Thug. Source
  25. In a week that’s seen the fall of many associated with President Donald Trump, it’s good to see his go-to “American Badass” Kid Rock also take a stumble, and one that might actually bruise him financially in the city of Nashville. On Friday morning, the self-declared “Bad Motherfucker” invited Fox and Friends to his newly minted Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse in downtown Nashville, where he made some lewd comments while speaking to host Steve Doocy. “I would say, love everybody. . . except screw that Joy Behar bitch,” Kid Rock said while swigging whisky. The comment even surprised someone like Doocy, who apologized for the language, prompting Kid Rock to follow: “I apologize for the language, not the sentiment.” Kid Rock live on Fox & Friends: 'Screw that Joy Behar bitch' pic.twitter.com/N2fYLqm4vL — Aidan McLaughlin (@aidnmclaughlin) November 30, 2018 If you recall, Behar criticized his visit to the White House last year with Sarah Palin and Ted Nugent, to which she called it “the saddest day in in the history of the White House since the British burned it to the ground in 1814.” Like a champ, Behar responded to Kid Rock’s latest comments on Friday afternoon’s episode of The View without skipping a single beat, saying: “This bitch and these bitches will be happy to have you on the show and have a beer.” Of course, Kid Rock was nonplussed and only double-downed on his sentiments, issuing another back-handed apology on Twitter in which he channeled his Joe Dirt villain, adding, “Mess with the bull, you get the horns. End of story.” Naturally, all of this didn’t sit too well with the city, who had previously appointed Kid Rock as the Grand Marshal of Saturday morning’s big downtown Christmas parade. City councilman Freddie O’Connell tweeted he would sit out of the festivities, arguing that Kid Rock “evokes neither the spirit of Christmas nor the inclusivity I think represents the best of Nashville,” while Nashville Mayor David Briley also noted he’d be following suit. In light of the backlash, and in a very Capra-esque Christmas miracle, the organizers replaced Kid Rock with legit hometown hero James Shaw Jr., who thwarted a mass shooting at the city’s Waffle House back in April. Just got some really exciting news!!!!! — James Shaw Jr. (@JamesShawJr9) November 30, 2018 Although Kid Rock’s business partner Steve Smith, who also runs the nearby Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and co-sponsored the parade, wasn’t a fan of the decision, threatening the city to “refund me my quarter of a million,” there was no Kid Rock to be seen on Saturday morning. Just left parade. Great grand Marshall. No kid rock thank goodness. pic.twitter.com/QfNb6p2xqb — annie armes (@anniearmes) December 1, 2018 This should all do wonders for Kid Rock’s new steakhouse, no? Source
